I like how versatile this product is. I used the drill feature to make a 8-1/4" dia. hole in a 1/4" thick corrugated aluminum panel to mount a ventilation fan. I used the hammer drill feature to make holes in a concrete slab to install drive-way markers so I can easily find my drive-way when I return home after a heavy snow-fall or dense fog. I really like the feature where you can turn the drill light on before the drill starts to turn. Great Product.

I've owned a lot of different brand drills over the years as a contractor. But no other drill matches the strength and versatility of this drill. And most important no one backs their product better than Ridgid. You know how many other companies back their batteries with a warranty like Ridgid?, NONE.

Drill is awesome compared to my old electric drill. The battery had went bad, and I was thinking about just replacing the battery. Glad I went with this new Rigid drill instead.

Ridgid 18V Cordless Hammer Drill/Driver Kit
Drill/driver with batteries and charger was a good purchase. Lifetime warranty (if proper paperwork filed in time) seems great (will update once I need to replace batteries).

Very rugged, with lot of torque, battery's last long, with quick recharge times. If you are using it all day over your head it is heavy. But will run all day.

They All Have Bit Wobble

Chuck up any bit less the 1/4 inch and it wobbles. 3/16" bit in metal and you get a hole closer to 1/4". I called Ridgid and they say thats normal and the drill isn't designed for such small bits. Went to 3 different Home Depot stores and tested many others right out of the box that did the same thing. Put my bit in 3 other brands at HD and it was perfect. I will now return all my Ridgid cordless tools and switch brands.Shame on Ridgid.

bring back the old ridgid hammer drill!!!!
I use to be a big fan of the ridgid tools. I originally started to use the ridgid line of tools about eight years ago out in the plumbing field and had no troubles. This past year my old hammer drill finally died. The motor burnt out and figured I would just buy the x4 hammer drill and impact driver set.... the circular saw and sawzall still worked good for me. So there was no need to buy the whole 5 piece set. In a four month period of time I burnt up two brand new x4 hammer drills. I decided to take one apart to see what happened to it... the inside design had been changed on the motor and bearings. The rear bearing sits in the plastic housing and melts the plastic when it gets to hot... never had that problem with the old set!!! I just bought the makita set and blows the ridgid set away!!!!!

hope wasn't reality
Had high hopes when I bought this from the store that it could solve my "in the field" electric supply problems with previous hammer drills. Instead, the charger kept coming up with "defective" identifications of its batteries, even though it later appeared to complete charging them when I tried again. Having gotten both batteries "apparently" fully charged, I proceeded to try to drill two common holes of the sort that I typically need to do dozens at a time in the "concrete like" ground on my place. It took THREE COMPLETE RECHARGES to get those two common holes drilled. NOT a practical solution to have to keep running back to my house to recharge batteries to drill two commonly needed holes. Yes, it's "possible" the batteries and/or charger actually were defective and that the product "usually" works, but the one I bought dissuades me from trying any battery operated tool in the future.
