This chainsaw was easy to assemble, lightweight and worked perfectly.

Got this just yesterday and already put it to work. I didn't want to deal with the headache of a gas chainsaw and this was a great alternative. It worked wonderful for my project of cutting up some tree limbs around the yard. Not too heavy and I like it's quick shut off to avoid injury. Great for a normal yard projects.

This is the fifth Ryobi brand lawn & garden power tool I have. This 16" electric chainsaw is an excellent tool. If you are experienced at using a chain saw, it is easy to use. All you need to do is simply put some bar/chain oil into the reservoir, check the chain tension (which is adjusted on the side of the saw), plug it in to your heavy duty extension cord and you are good to go cutting large logs and medium size trees. It has the correct weight and balance.

This review is for Ryobi Model RY43155, 13 amp. electric chain saw with 16-inch cutter bar. This saw weighs about 11 pounds with the bar & chain oil reservoir filled. It has an automatic internal chain brake that stops the chain abruptly if a kickback occurs. The supplied chain is of low kickback design, every third link including a cutter. The control system stops chain movement immediately when the control switch trigger is released, an excellent safety feature from my perspective. I used this saw for taking down a dying 8-inch diameter ash tree, limbing and cutting it into firewood. The saw worked well with no signs of overheating or cutter dulling. The motor has plenty of power. The chain and bar lubrication system works well and does not leak oil during storage. A translucent window in the saw housing provides a view of the lube oil level. The tool-less chain tension system has large knobs that make adjustments and locking them in place easily done. The chain tension settings held well during my work. Because this saw uses an AC electric motor, it is low maintenance and relatively quiet without a need to charge or to replace a relatively expensive battery. The instructions are detailed, yet easily understood. The only weakness I found is in the factory packaging. It is oddly shaped and of weak paperboard that did not stand up well to the rigors of shipping. The carrier had me open and inspect the package upon arrival as he suspected that the contents may have been damaged or that items were missing. There was no damage nor were parts missing. This product would best be repacked if shipped separately. This tool comes with a 3-year limited warranty for household, personal or family use and 90-day warranty for commercial use. Outside of the factory packaging, this is a quality product and a welcome addition to my handyman tool collection.

This is the third Ryobi brand lawn & garden power tool that I have added to my collection this year & this 16" electric chainsaw is proving to be as good as the others. It's easy to use: simply put some bar/chain oil into the reservoir, check the chain tension (easily adjusted on the side of the saw), plug it in to your heavy duty extension cord and cut! I used it to cut back a severely overgrown magnolia bush (more like a tree) and the saw had plenty of power to cut up to 3" diameter. branches with ease. The saw seems to be well balanced and it's relatively lightweight. The bar/chain oil reservoir is translucent so you can easily see the oil level from just glancing at the reservoir. I was kind of disappointed that the saw did not come with a small container of bar/chain oil to get you started using it. I didn't notice on the box that oil was NOT included in the package, so I had to run back over to Home Depot and pay approx. $5 for a quart of this special oil. It also comes with a plastic cover to protect the chainsaw arm in storage-good idea.

I've been trying to break away from gasoline powered hand tools and this chainsaw is a great addition. Saw arrived packaged very securely and arrived in perfect shape.There is no assembly at all other than adding chain saw oil to the chamber to keep the blade lubricated. THE OIL IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SAW. After running to the hardware store i was ready to tackle my chores. I used the saw to cut some stumps to ground level that were sticking up through the soil. It made easy work of it and i can't wait until i need to do some more cutting again.

I like the full-sized weight, balance, and convenience of this chainsaw. It features auto oiling from a reservoir of the chain and bar. It also has a tools-free chain tension adjustment dial like feature on the side, so no more carrying around a small wrench.There is no bar and chain oil included, but it is easily bought at the Home Depot in various brands (not Ryobi) and sizes (I bought 1 quart Makita oil). You also need a large gauge cord; at the 13 Amps this motor uses, a 50 foot long power cord needs to be 12 AWG outdoor cord, again easily purchased at the Home Depot. I appreciate the Operator's Manual includes a nice table showing wire gauge size of power cord for 25 and 50 feet cords needed for this tool.

This Ryobi electric chain saw is a keeper. It's easy to operate and lightweight. It automatically oils the chain so no need to monitor that. We can also se the m=amount of oil still in the reservoir as it is translucent. Tightening the chain is also a breeze. Instructions are clear for those who read them. It has powerful cutting torque and slices through even our heavy logs easily. The motor is relatively quiet as chain saws go. The blade sops instantly when I let go of the trigger. I had my wife use it (photos below), and she had no trouble at all with it.

This saw is perfect for the homeowner that doesn't want to worry about a gas model. It will cut just about anything that a homeowner might need to cut or trim. The bar is the perfect length. Not too long and not too short. The motor is 13 AMP. Plenty strong enough for cutting logs or branches. The chain oil filler is well made and easy to access. I really like the chain adjuster! This is way better than older models that you need to use a wrench on. The saw comes with a bar scabbard to protect the chain and you! Always use the proper heavy duty cord and wear proper safety equipment when operating this saw! Make sure you ready all the directions before use as well!
