This is a terrible product. My daughter bought it as part of a blower, hedge trimmer, string trimmer set. Took it out today to use for the 1st time & it fell apart. The spring that is supposed to hold the two parts of the shaft together failed after a few minutes use. Will recommend my daughter demand her money back.

I’ve avoided buying a weed whacker for a long time. I finally decided cutting the grass with scissors was too hard with s bad back. Even though I don’t really know how to use it, it seemed worth a try. I haven’t had any trouble with it yet. The stronger battery is the way to go, but it does make it heavier. Overall, it’s lightweight, but I have a bad back, and I’m no spring chicken! I do recommend it for small jobs.

Ryobi designers flunked this one
I got this trimmer to use the same batteries from my other Ryobi tools without doing a complete research, for starters it is big, heavy and cumbersome to handle, the worst part of the design is the lack of the front guard to protect the bark of trees and flowers when cutting grass around flower beds, even the cheapest from other brands have this guard. If you need it to trim grass in areas without tress, bushes or flowers, this is your toll, otherwise look for other brand. I regret wasting my money on this one. Ryobi designers flunked this one.

Would have given 5 stars but this lil guy needs a battery Twice the power as what is used. Maybe they have one? Don't know but I Do know it Wipes a full battery to just No comparison to the chainsaw. I had a Makita weed eater many many years ago, didn't cost much and could Constantly run it for a whole hour. And again this I Think probably not Lithium, over a decade ago? Either way, to get anything significant done you need 2 batteries. Plus the front handle, while others commented, and rightly so being it is WAY to far up but it should be ADJUSTABLE anyway. While it is indeed a joke, no problem to just hold it on the stem where comfortable for you. The overall condition, body is well made. Just make a Much more powerful battery, adjustable handle it'd be perfect.

This Ryobi cordless trimmer is a wonderful companion to my Ryobi lawnmower and I do not regret choosing this product. The battery charges quickly and is interchangeable with a variety of other Ryobi products. The trimmer is extremely powerful and very light weight, even with the battery attached which is very appealing to this senior citizen! I must add that not having to fuss with a cord is also a huge bonus in my opinion.

This is a pretty convenient trimmer for your average home use. There is a little assembly required. You have to push the 2 ends of the pole together to lock them together and you have to screw on the bottom guard. It took about 60 seconds. It comes with the charger and 18-volt One+ battery, which is compatible with other Ryobi products.
The trimmer is very light, even with the battery. Its comfortable to hold and use. The handle has a safety such that your hand must be gripping the handle and depressing it when you pull the start trigger. The handle can also be spun around such that the trimmer points down for edging.
Its plenty powerful for trimming regular grass, but I doubt it would hold up to heavier brush. The trimmer line is auto-feeding so you don't have to slam the head down to advance it. How it works: While the trimmer is running, release the trigger, wait 2 seconds, and press the trigger again. This will extend the line 1/4 inch. You can also extend it manually by pushing a button on the string head and pulling on the line.
The spool is replaceable, or you can just add new string to the spool.
The only feature lacking on this is that the handle length is not adjustable at all. For people taller than 6 feet, this may mean more leaning over when using. But given how light it is, its shouldn't strain the back.

This is a light weight trimmer great for small jobs. It is small and easy to use and since it's grab and go, I can quickly trim and edge my yard each week when I mow with little extra effort. I've seen lots of people holding their string trimmers at odd angles to use it as an edger. This one has a button on the handle that allows you to rotate the head so it can easily be used as an edger. It has a manual feed for the line in addition to the auto feed feature. I really like this for when the line binds up as they usually do on string trimmers. There are to tabs you push in on the string compartment to release the cover so you can get to the spool of line which is reloadable, you don't have to buy a new spool when this one runs out. If you have a big yard or require some significant use this is not the trimmer for you. The line is relatively thin .065 inch and it does where down quickly so I would get some spare line ahead of time

The RYOBI 18-VOLT ONE+ LITHIUM-ION CORDLESS STRING TRIMMER WITH 1.3 AH BATTERY AND CHARGER INCLUDED Is a very good deal on a trimmer package. I am 100% switched over to lithium batteries for all my lawn tools and power tools. I only have a very small yard out back to care for, so 1.3 ah is plenty of battery for me. Next, I will be looking to get a Ryobi pole saw to trim my locust tree.

The RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion Cordless String Trimmer with 1.3 Ah Battery and Charger Included Model # P20103 is a nice addition to my growing collection of Ryobi outdoor power tools. Battery power is the way to go. No more 2 cycle tools for me. Selecting this product was an easy choice. I have an older version (Model P2006A) that has proven to be a great product. This trimmer has an automatic-feed string head with a 10 in. cut width controlled by the tools trigger. Just like its predecessor the shaft rotates 90 degrees and converts to an edger. This product comes with one pre-wrapped spool of .065 (Blue String). The spool is reusable. I found it advantageous to purchase a few extra spools, and a package of .065 trimmer line. RYOBI supports this product with a 3-year limited warranty and a 90-day no-risk satisfaction guarantee.

The Ryobi 18 volt trimmer is a quality built item. It has a button on the shaft that allows you to twist it 180 degrees allowing easier use as an edger. The 18 bolt battery has a good life span and I was able to trim my whole fence line and around the house, and I have a large back yard. The trimmer is light weight so it doesn't wear you out while using it. I'm 6 feet tall so it's a little short for me, but it works great for her 5'4" height when she helps out. I have other Ryobi products that are several years old and still work like new. I do recommend this trimmer.

This Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ cordless trimmer is a nice product for small to medium size yards. It's lightweight and can be used as a trimmer and/or edger. It has good power and does a nice job trimming the grass. It is turned into an edger by simply holding a button on the side of the handle and turning the pole that's attached to the trimmer. No need to bump the trimmer to have the line extend. It extends automatically when releasing the trigger and powering off. My only disappointment with the trimmer is it comes with only a 1.5 AH battery with no remaining battery life indicator. My other Ryobi tools come with a 3 of 4 AH battery.
This is one of many Ryobi tools using their 18 volt ONE+ system of their cordless tools which is exclusive to the Home Depot. This is their 10 inch string trimmer/edger that is light weight and very easy to use. Carries Ryobi's three year limited warranty and also has a 90 day no risk guarantee which is one of the best warranties on the cordless tool industry. The advancing of the string trimmer line system eliminates the bump and go system and is implied in the operators manual, bumping of the head to advance line will damage the trimmer and void the three year warranty. The proper way to advance the trimmer line is to (1) while running release the trigger switch (2) wait two seconds and press the trigger switch. The line will extend approximately 1/4" with each stop and go until the line is extended to the length of the grass deflector cut-off blade. To extend battery life here a few dos and don'ts concerning the batteries. Store batteries to 100% charged after use, do not leave batteries on tools when storing and do not leave the batteries in the charger unless unplug from the wall receptacle. By following these 3 dos and don'ts this will increase the battery life tremendously.

I'm not going to tell you this is as powerful as some of its higher voltage and bigger cousins, but if you need a light duty trimmer, this is GREAT for you! First, it's made by a great company that you can rely on, RYOBI. Second it is without a doubt the lightest string trimmer I've ever used! If not wearing your arms out is important to you, this will more them fill your needs.
Now some oddities. The string seems to auto feed, not bump feed. It uses .065 fairly thin string, so you might want to get a roll or two with the trimmer. It spools in only one direction, so that's pretty easy to restring when needed... but also another factor that makes it lighter duty. I love how easy it is to spin the shaft and set it up for light duty edging too!
Still, I would have given it 5 stars if the little pin that holds the top and bottom parts of the shaft together had not failed on the first use. It's a little spring pin and was easy to fix with a small screw and some tape, but I would have expected it not to fail like that. As far as I know, I didn't do anything wrong to cause that... and it still works just fine... but one star got deducted. Your pin will NOT likely fail, so 5 stars should hold up as a lighter duty trimmer.

If you are looking for a light weight easy to use weed trimmer, this should be given serious consideration. Minor assembly is required, might take longer to open the box and get things lined up than the assembly time needed. Very light, easy to use. Hard to say more as it will do everything you want. While we still have snow on the ground I'm confident it'll work just fine. Comes with battery and charger..
great for light work around plants and trees, uses 18 volt batters

Lightweight but powerful enough for the whole yard
This is my second of this trimmer. I wore the first one out, but liked it so much I bought another.
Very lightweight and easy to handle. The rechargeable battery makes it much easier than a gas trimmer. While it’s not heavy duty, it easily handles my subdivision yard. I particularly like the ability to switch the angle to give a vertical trim along sidewalk and driveway, but have tie normal angle for going around fences and gardens. I’d say I would buy it again, but I already did. I’ll be set for several years.

Short and Sweet
Hey Sister! Get your groove on! Get out there and trim that grass yourself in no time at all! This string trimmer looks like it's totally wimpy but it works beautifully! Lightweight, made for someone who ISN'T tall, it has a 10" reach and it's easy to use. You get the job done without needing a visit to the chiropractor afterwards. The edges of the lawn are short and you're still sweet. And then you've got the rest of the day to go to the beach, run around your nice looking yard with the grandkids, or play Mahjong with the girls. The replacement string is on a spool you just pop in. No waiting around for someone else to trim for you. Given the amount you'll pay for that, this puppy has earned its keep in a couple of weeks. What's not to love?

Very good small trimmer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very good product. I bought it a few weeks ago and have been able to use it on the property. I does a good job and is very convenient to use. This device is very good for smaller yards or trimming. It is recommended for older folks as it is light and can be used effectively.
