I've had this Ryobi expandable trimmer for 4 years. I use the crap out of it. I have every attachment they offer. They all do exceptionally well. The bower really impressed me. This little engine also can easily move the tines on the tiller attachment. It starts up great every time. I had echo and other commercial grade small engines and this one has gone through 4 times more work since it has so many attachments and its still outlasted and out preformed the other commercial brands. BUY IT!

Mine has lasted since 2017. I've beat it up. One summer I used it cutting random lawns for extra money. I've been using it at my own home for the last 4 years now. I haven't even done any maintenance on it which is probably why it's showing signs of slowing down after all these years. It's well worth the money. I might get another one of these or switch to electric since my actual property is only .24 acre lol

Trimmer works well and I have no complaints

Works well, nicely balanced, string feeds smoothly. A winner.

totally impossible to change out the trim line! the line container/spool is engineered poorly! it can’t be opened or closed using your hands! if the twine breaks inside the spool your doomed! the other thing is it’s nearly impossible and very time consuming to thread the line through both sides of spool! it’s a disaster! i took mine back after using it for 2 hours most of which was used to thread new line into the spool! i was exhausted.

It works great. Although it is not very user friendly for left handed users. As a lefty, I found that the engine shuts down with half a tank of fuel. If I hold it as a right, it continues to feed fuel.

This is my third Ryobi straight trimmer. The first one I bought in 2004. The last one was a 2014 model. 10 years use before it was time to get a new one. The new trimmer head in the 2023 model is a great upgrade and is awesome with easy to load string. Same quality as the first two. I expect this one to last 10 years too. Still have the first two shafts and a edger attachment that are still compatible.

Lasted for two seasons. Started bogging down last fall and had to warm up way too long. This year it won’t start. Annoyed because I bought and really like some of the attachments. This replaced a 10 year old trimmer and didn’t make it 3 years. The price increase since I bought it is laughable considering the poor quality. Will find another brand for its replacement.

Great machine easy to start and plenty of power

Got it out of the box starting using it the line got jammed and I cannot get the head off to fix the line

The weed eater starts up easy enough, however, it will not feed. Trying to uncap to fix the problem is impossible. I cannot even open to unclog the feeder. A piece of junk!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was shocked to find out the spring rotation is counterclockwise when my two previous spun the other way . Totally throws me off my game. I don’t know if this is normal or mine is wired different.

Great power...battery version is not good

I buy new powerheads every five years or so when they just won't start anymore. While they are alive, It takes no more than 4-5 pulls to get it going. Once it warms up, it will stay running until you hit the kill switch. Has sufficient power to do most every chore based on the attachment of course. I've chainsawed hardwood limbs from the tree and then cut the 30' limb down to 2' sections with this thing. (be generous with chain oil).

After nine years of hard use..still running,however going to replace it with a new one...I have a number of attachments so will order the same 2 cycle again. You have to maintain it make sure your oil mix is correct. If you do that it will always start and run great..the old one started on first or second pull..can't say enough good things about it Thank you Ryob

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The one I currently have is about three years old and still runs good I have several different attachments I use on it mostly use a brushcutter. Definitely plan on buying another one when the current one messes up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this 2-cycle straight shaft Expand-It trimmer and a 10-inch brush cutter attachment. Assembled easily with clear instructions. I tried it out on some wild blackberry vines and other similar briars and did fine. Would also handle small mulitfloral roses, but, as I expected, the older, bigger ones were tough cutting. But I could use it to trim them back and then take a chainsaw to them. I'm happy with it; not used long enough to give an excellent rating yet, but quite happy with it so far.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a landscape architect / landscaper for 30 years. This is the best string trimmer I’ve ever used. I consider it a toy, and I love to play with it. It’s also wickedly effective. I always bring loppers, just in case; but so far this weedeater plows through things I had initially doubted about. Along with extremely thick and long clumps of grass. This thing is a beast.
