This is a fine trimmer and Ryobi's better battery system has no problem powering this trimmer for a good period of time. My only disappointment is Home Depot doesn't stock this unit in their local stores. I had to order it...and wait...

It was longer than I thought and very sharp. Real easy to use! Cant wait for more shrubs to grow!

Coming from a corded hedge trimmer, I was skeptical of a battery powered trimmer. I already had Ryobi One+ items and a couple of small batteries, so this was an obvious option. I was very pleasantly surprised that even the small batteries did a great job. They did a lot of work and the trimmer kept cutting strong and clean until the battery gave out. I swapped them out and kept going. I definitely recommend two batteries, but the trimmer is great and very maneuverable, with no cord to work about (either length or cutting the cord). Also, the orange "Hedge Sweep" attachment did a surprisingly good job as well.

I had an old cordless 3/8" hedge trimmer, for normal hedge's OK, but when trimming my overgrown Rosemary around the house, it just won't cut, so invested to this new 3/4" hedge trimmer, what a differences it make, cut through tough Rosemary branches without any problem at all, love the rotation feature, made it easy when trimming along chain link fence. I have many Ryobi 18+ tools, this one just added a nice touch to my cordless collection, was thinking about those 40V cordless yard tools, after used this one I think 40V tools would be a waste of $, 18V got enough power to get the job done.

Cordless is the way to go!. It is more convenient than electric and almost as strong as gas. This trimmer has good runtime and good power. I trimmed my whole yard without needing to recharge the battery. It was able to cut everything that would fit between the teeth. I compared it directly to another brand new hedge trimmer that my buddy just bought. They are the same size. His was 20 volt and yellow and new too. The Ryobi held up great!. The price was about the same as my buddy's, but the Ryobi includes a battery and a charger and his did not. Also, it has another unique feature that I like. You can rotate the handle 90 degrees to make it more comfortable when you are trimming vertically. I tried to include a picture of this feature below. This is a very nice trimmer for the price. I would definitely recommend it .

This hedge trimmer is a great tool to have for smaller, lighter duty projects. I don't know how it would stand up to repeated heavy use, I just didn't feel like it was built to work all day, but it worked fine for my application. It is light and easy to hold which is a major plus when cutting a lot of hedges. The operation is extremely easy, basically plug and play. It takes a 18V ONE+ lithium Ryobi battery, so I could interchange that battery with other tools that take the same one. You just click it in and you're good to go. The product comes with a protective sheath as well as a nifty simple addition called a Hedge Sweep, which mounts on the top part of the blade and allows you to knock off debris as you cut so you don't have to pick it from the hedge after you cut. This tool also gives you the ability to rotate the handle at different angles for different angle cuts which makes the ergonomics much better. The trimmer cut very well, even slicing through a 1" diameter branch (although that's probably not recommended) and was easy to lubricate and clean after use. The blades seemed sharp and robust. It's a great tool that I highly recommend.

Our acreage has mature hedges and a big thicket and we need to be cord-free to get the work done efficiently. It’s grab-n-go and oh-so-easy! This trimmer is smartly designed with a more-than-adequate 22” blade; a 5-position swivel handle (45-degree increments) to simplify any-position trimming and increase comfort. It’s also well-balanced, powerful, and easily maneuverable. The sharp blades effortlessly slice through branches up to ½” thick. An unexpected but helpful sweeper attachment slides down the full-length of the blade to help remove trimmings. Tight fit, but nice design! The battery utilized is the same interchangeable 18V Li common to other Ryobi One+ tools. We drained a full battery with a decent 25-min continuous run (sufficient for most reasonable jobs); grabbed a charged back-up battery; changed out again after a 50-min recharge; and whiled away an entire afternoon. There’s nothing like a sunny 75-degree day in the middle of winter to start the Spring clean-up with the PERFECT tool for the job!

You can use it anytime and anywhere, since it is always ready, and you do not need gas or power cords. This Trimmer is lightweight and easy to operate. The trimmer blade has 5 position settings. You can set it at "0" degree, which is horizontal, then there is 45 degree and 90 degree twist turns to the left and also to the right, which makes it more versatile to operate without any user fatigue. First impressions: Why did Ryobi make a 22" tool using the same battery as the older 18" trimmer?? Read further for the answer... Looks just like all other Ryobi tools. Lockout button seems too stiff. Lightweight. Analysis and usage: This trimmer has a nice light weight and balance, good for long periods of use. But don't expect the same performance as a gas-powered trimmer. It's way weaker, but usable just the same. The safety release button was way too stiff to easily use at first. It took a great effort to slide it back enough to move the trigger. After a few uses, that stiffness disappeared and it became very easy to slide. The rear handle of the trimmer can be rotated 45 or 90 degrees in either direction, but I did not really find that very helpful. Perhaps with a lengthy session I would think differently. The saw has a slow mechanical sound and operation but does seem to cut easily up to about 3/4" thick branches. Too many of that size wold probably run down the battery quickly. On the subject of batteries, this tool has the newer Lithium+ One+ 18v battery, which is more powerful than the regular One+ 18v battery. That is rated at 28 watt-hours instead of 24 watt hours. That is why this can be used in a larger trimmer. The battery can still be used in existing chargers and tools that require Ryobi 18v Lithium batteries. I found the tool to be easy to use either with or without the hedge sweeper attachment bar. I trimmed six medium size hedges moderately and still had battery power left. Make sure to spray the cutters with some kind of oil after each use so they don't rust so much. Summary: Easy to use. Includes a more powerful battery. Not strong as a gas trimmer. No case.

This is a very nice cordless trimmer with great features. The battery pack has a charge level so you can see how much s in the battery before beginning your project. Also, the angle adjustment is great so you can angle the tool and avoid fatigue from holding in an awkward position. The top fitting waste removal feature allows cut material to be channeled away from the blades rather than allow to pile up and clog the blades. A very nice tool. Makes the job much easier.

I really like my new Hedge Trimmer. I recently added this to my collection of 18V RYOBI ONE+ tools and I'm satisfied. It feels solid and well built, yet relatively light-weight. It fits well in my hands and the handle is well designed. The 22 inch blade provides great reach for typical hedge trimming activities. It has enough power to perform the standard jobs around your house. Angle adjustment is also useful. It has a trigger lock safety feature to avoid accidents. It is very easy to use. The lithium ion battery provides good run time and charges very quickly. I prefer battery powered tools over gas powered, specially for small jobs around the house. The RYOBI ONE+ 18V collection offers great tools at an affordable price. You can share batteries/chargers and save more buyer new ones. 4 stars from me means very good product that meets expectations. I reserve the 5 star rating for exceptional products that exceed expectations. See attached pics.

This Ryobi One Lithium Cordless hedge trimmer is the newest addition to my Ryobi cordless tool collection. The cordless tools make it so much easier and convenient not to have a cord or gas engine. This one comes with a battery and charger. There is a scabbard included to protect the blades when storing. It is so easy to use. After charging up the 18 volt lithium ion battery on the dual chemistry charger, it was ready to use. It is pretty lightweight even with the battery. I used it to even out some hedges before it became too cold. It did a great job. It trimmed nice and even. I had the debris deflector on, but not sure how it helped. There is a rotating handle button which I used on the side of the hedge. The blades need to be lubricated before and after each use to prolong the life of the blades.

One of the best advantages of having a cordless hedge trimmer is not having to deal with the cord in the bushes. This product uses the Ryobi 18 V lithium battery which has a one hour quick charger. The trimmer has a 3/4 inch capacity with the handle being able to rotate in all angles. The trimmer performs perfectly and did not require any assembly out of the box. The printed instructional manual is very clear and perfect to answer any questions.regarding the features and operation of the tool. The blade length is 22 inches and has a guard. Unfortunately, it was supposed to come with a debris deflector but ours was missing out of the box. We will follow up with this. There is a lockout button which prevents accidental starting of the trimmer. This Ryobi line of products is very nice and one of our favorites.

Works like a champ, will by another one when ever this one goes out.

I was able to use it to shape the plants in both height and width with easily. Product is easy to use and performs flawlessly! I highly recommend it for light to moderate yard work! Great value!

I’m gonna try this battery trimmer. I’m just tired of packing extension cords with my electric trimmer.

Surprisingly easy to get the feel for this new to me tool. Supersharp blades & the rotating handle means when my wrists get sore, i can still do a bit more. Pretty pleased

The product was damaged in shipping and had to be returned, so I don't know how well this product works.

Didn't box the unit to ship. FedEx man knocked on door to show us how it shipped. Too late to get replacement as it was a gift. Don't know if it will work 0or not. I can't trust Home Depot for a shipped order again. No response when I rated it last time they asked

Purchased this item because it was part of the 18v group using an existing battery. Very satisfied so far

Works well and does the job for what I need it for. Only issue was with shipping. When I picked up the item at the store the box was all damaged and taped up. Very bad look for picking up a “new item”. Thankfully the item inside was not damaged.

My hedge trimmer works great, lots of power and cuts right through, only issue is the battery does not last very long on a charge, although I was using it really hard

the delivery was cancelled without notifying me and when it was reordered, I was promised a discount and never received it.

The delivered product box was in bad shape when it arrived.
