I really like this inverter. It comes in handy during power outages as well as lighting a small, off-grid workshop. The problem I'm having, however, is that it drains the battery even when not in use. It's a bummer that I have to remember to remove the battery when not using or I'll come back to a dead battery.

Rated for 800w when hooked to battery but over powered and shut off at 600w

Really this requires a battery attached to a running car to make use of the external battery clamps. Oddly that part isn’t clear. I bought a stand alone car battery and clamped it to the inverter - it didn’t work at all for running a small refrigerator. I imagine the 1000-watt (newer) version would be the same - but I haven’t tried it yet.)

Great product concept. Home Depot dropped the ball. This unit must have been purchased and returned. It was poorly “repackaged”. I should have received a discount for purchasing a “used” product. Must retailers consider this an open box.

Connection from cigarette lighter cord to inverter the two prong connection you will have problems with that I guarantee it I've been on my third cord already and they keep wiggling to the point where they won't make contact.. by the 1000 w you will not experience this problem

Pretty useful especially if you already have a fair amount of batteries helping keep your fridge running during power outages or if you're at work and happened to have a mini fridge/warmer in the vehicle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this unit last summer, living in Oklahoma we have plenty of storms come through, and when the power goes out, I break out this inverter, it has a built in light, and with 10 ryobi batteries I have plenty of power to run fan's lights. charge everything and If the power stays out for a long time I can hook this unit up to a 12 volt battery for even more power 800 watts. will power the tv, and keep the internet up and running too,. It's a must have now days when the grid goes down, and great to take camping too

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was happy to find that I could power a random orbital sander and a mouse sander from my 6 ah Ryobi battery. Reviews and online info indicated only that the unit could charge cell phones and such using the battery as a power source. It all works as advertised so far.

I use this 800-watt power inverter in my truck at work to charge my computer without having to keep my truck running off of it built in inverter. It works best with at least a 6amp battery. With my 3-amp batteries, my computer will only charge about 1/2 way.

For the price and features this thing is great. That being said, I hate that it shuts off automatically on power loss (such as starting your truck), so I'm constantly making sure to turn it back on. With some power supplies for computers hooked in, it'll flash red/green at me and shut off, well under the 120W. Closer to 30. When it works right it's flawless, and I love that I can throw a battery in and get 300W. Makes me wish they would've gone a little past 10A on the cigarette lighter for the shut off. This can be wired in, but as I'm in a company vehicle they probably wouldn't like me running 6 gauge wires through the firewall.

I love my Ryobi tools and gadgets but I was a little disappointed with this one. I like everything it does have but I wanted it more for my car for emergencies than just a battery back up. I needed the car jumper but it doesn’t have an air compressor for tires. Also I found one that has everything this one has plus it has alternator check, tire compressor, led light. Also for a little bit less price. Time to step it up Ryobi

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago and my wife and I trade it off and on for work and camping. It’s made life a lot easier as we can charge batteries, run laptops, monitors, coolers, etc. super easy setup. Debating on mounting it permanently in my truck.

Used it to power a small Christmas tree at a holiday market. Ran lights for a couple of hours on a 4ah battery. I was there for 11 hours, brought 3 batteries, should have had 4 or 5 but it worked well.
