This new Ryobi corner sander is much quieter and better quality than my previous Ryobi model. It's a nice addition to my other Ryobi hand tools.

Excellent Sander - Great Value
I picked up this sander as a replacement for an old corded sander. Ryobi gives you the freedom to work anywhere and it's easy to use. It has a comfortable grip with minimal vibration. The hook & loop pad make attaching sandpaper easy and it doesn't leave swirl marks. The dust collection bag holds a lot of dust but it does tend to come off every now and then. You'll need to push it back into place occasionally. I've had it for 6 months and I recommend it.

I have really come to enjoy the Ryobi line of 18volt tools for my wooden toy making. Great products, and seem to hold up to my demands

Needed to sand the side of a dresser to shave it down where it’s fit in a gap in the closet…the cordless sander was easy to maneuver and ise, and had enough power to get the job done.

    Quality Sander
Good for the person needing an occassional sander, home use. I used this primarily to finish sanding my deck after what the drum floor sander would not get. Only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that the neck that attaches to the collecter bag to the sander itself kept coming off. I used 40 grit paper to remove rustoleum restore from my deck with it. Also make sure you have plenty of batteries if doing a big project. I have 5 4ah batteries and 3 1.5ah. I had to use them all before the first one was recharged. Or get a rapid charger.

      Powerful small sander
The Ryobi Corner Cat Sander is a great tool for sanding in tight spaces. It has a unique shape that makes it easy to get into corners and around edges. The sander is also very lightweight, making it easy to maneuver. It comes in handy daily for me and my small business where I have small areas to sand on the home decor signs that I make. Overall, I would recommend the Ryobi Corner Cat Sander to anyone who needs a sander for small projects. It is a great tool and it is very easy to use.

        Decent for small jobs
Sander works well, but would recommend only for small jobs. Used it to refinish an outdoor planter with 4ah batteries. On full charge and continual use you’ll get about 30-45 minutes before you need to swap. A bit heavy with bigger batteries, but not a deal breaker. I did have a problem with the dust collector repeatedly falling off. It happened enough times to be annoying. Overall, I still prefer a corded sander, but for the price this will come in handy for quick projects.

          You need this set!
The upgrades make the difference! I own the P401 and P411 and both work great and have lasted years. I bought the PCL416B and the PCL406B because I needed both for my Engineering/Woodworking students and the reduced vibration, ease of battery removal, on/off switch, stop time and much less noise have made a huge difference! We first used the old ones and then the new models I loved the difference and the students did also. This is a must have for any project that you need to sand for more than 10 minutes.

          Perfect for Small Jobs
This finish sander is terrific for small jobs around the house because of its size. I have already used it on a few projects but am waiting for the weather to warm up so I can re-finish a teak table and chairs that I have on my deck. The chairs have a lot of nooks and crannies where this sander will definitely excel. The sander is simple to use. Basically, all you need to do is apply the sanding sheets (three are included with the sander) to the hook-and-loop pad surface, attach a Ryobi battery, and then turn it on. The on/off switch is a little "squishy" for my taste and takes a little effort to depress. I would have preferred a more distinct "clicking" feel when using them, but they do the job. The sanding sheets are perforated so that you can rotate the upper (pointed) portion if it wears out, thus extending the life of the sanding sheet. A port is located on the side of the sander to accommodate an adapter if you want to attach a vacuum hose to catch excess dust. So far I haven't needed it but I will definitely purchase one before tackling the teak table and chairs. The sander is "hand-sized" and thus comfortable to hold and manipulate. Even with the battery, it is fairly lightweight so no need to worry about fatigue when using it. Like all other Ryobi products, this sander is well-made and accommodates all of their regular-sized batteries. Highly recommended.

          Nice finish sander!
The RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless Corner Cat Finish Sander should be the perfect sander to sand the bottoms on the trays that I make with my CNC router. The sander uses standard hook & loop sandpaper that simply presses on the sanding plate for easy install and removal. Three sheets of sandpaper are included with the sander, one each of 60, 120, and 240 grit. I am little disappointed that the sander doesn’t include an on-board dust port, but it does include a vacuum port that allows it to be connected to a vacuum adapter that can be purchased separately. I plan to use the sander as is, without purchasing a vacuum adapter because the other methods of sanding (hand sanding, oscillating tool with sanding attachment or Dremel tool) that I use don’t have dust collection either. I am done making trays for this holiday season, but I tested the sander on several pieces and it works great.

          Must Buy!!
If you are going to purchase one random orbital sander for your wood work, this is the one to buy. It does all the work that a circular orbital sander does, but it has the added benefit of being able to reach into corners. I like how it uses the hook and loop system to attach the sanding pads, so they are easy to apply and remove. My other sander uses the adhesive sanding pads, and if you leave them on too long, they are hard to pull off. Not so with this Ryobi Corner Cat sander. This sander is very simple to use, and fits in the palm of your hand nicely. It comes with a 60, 120, and 240 grit sanding pad.

Ryobi Model PCL416B 18 volt Corner Finish Sander Is a Great tool I can Now sand into the corners of my projects
This model PCL416B Ryobi 18v cordless corner finishing sander gives me the ability to finish my projects completely. Compact is size at only 6 ¼’’ d 3 3/4’’w and 5 ¾’’ h so it can fit in some small spaces great for restoration projects that you cannot take apart. The triangle hook and loop base makes it easy to change the sandpaper and the point lets you sand in those corners for nice clean finish most of the wear on the sandpaper is on the front of the paper so when it gets worn, I can just change the tip if I want. This has a lot less vibration than my other sanders and with the top and front grip I can control it better great when you have to sand a large project or a close corner/space. Rocker control switch in front for easy on/off. You can purchase a dust collector for this the part number is [ A21CCV1] so you can use your dust collection system with an id of 1 ¼’’ or 1 7/8’’ diameter vacuum hose. This came with one each of 240 grit.120 grit and 60 grit sandpaper. Read the operators manual and follow the safety warnings. This can be used for polishing scrubbing also, it just works. Backed by a three-year warranty from Ryobi use it

          Powerful Cordless Sander
I own quite a few Ryobi One products in the 18v and 40v varieties. When I had the chance to pick up this RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless 5 in. Random Orbit Sander I jumped on it. I don't use a sander all the time or for long periods of time, so a cordless one works perfect for my needs. Out of the package it came with a few sheets of sandpaper, a dust bag, and the sander. This sander did not come with a battery (you can buy a set with the battery and charger), but since I had a few batteries it was a good deal. Ryobi has built a solid sander that is constructed well and simple to use. Just place the sandpaper on the Velcro equipped head, plug in the battery and you're ready to roll. I used it with my 1.5ah battery and it performed well. It had plenty of power and it sanded my project with ease. When done sanding, it looked great. The random orbit sander creates a smooth finish without grooves or being able to see where it has been sanded. I had an old pallet that I am planning to stain for the decor in my son's wedding. There were work boot foot prints all over it. They sanded out, created a smooth surface, and is now ready for stain. The convenience of being able to use this without a plug or extension cord is great. It is a little heavy with the battery but most sanders are heavy. If you are looking for a tool for your shop, I highly recommend.

Great sander at a great price
So to start you need to know this is not a heavy-duty industrial sander. The sander is meant to be an at-home DIY orbital sander that will work great for most people. The Ryobi ONE+ line is great because it has so many options and they tend to be good quality for the price. This is not the best sander I have used, but for an inexpensive batter operated sander it works very well. Most of the sanding I do is on pine or plywood with occasional uses of teak, oak, and maple. This little sander appears to handle each job great and paired with good quality sand paper it will handle any DIY job you have.

A powerhouse in the palm of your hand!
You all know that feeling you get when you pick a tool and think, "Yeah, this was the right choice!". Well, the Ryobi ONE+ cordless palm sander is one of those tools. Ready to work right out of the box with the 3-piece sample sanding discs included. Just pop in any Ryobi ONE+ Battery pack and you are sanding everything from wood trim in the kitchen to a metal trailer fender. The sander accepts any 5" hook & loop vented sanding disc. Ryobi includes a dust bag that is a friction fit. The dust bag works well, but you need to make sure you tap it over the exhaust port. I knocked it off a couple of times. The exhaust port will accept any 1.5" vacuum hose too. This sander has an extremely comfortable and grippy overmold palm rest. The power switch is located at the front for easy access and is dustproof. The 10,000 orbits per minute ensures you get a very consistent and even finish. I decided to really put the sander to the test by sanding out a metal trailer fender. The paint was chipped and rusted in several places. I started with 80 grit and worked my way up to 320. The sander ran smoothly and with little vibration. I was able to finish all the sanding prep using only one 2.0 Ah battery. The finished results were great, I am so happy I picked up this cordless ONE+ sander from Ryobi. As with most Ryobi tools, The PCL406 Palm sander comes with a 3-year warranty.

This is the perfect sander for my needs!
The RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless 5-inch Random Orbit Sander fits my needs perfectly. It is battery powered, does an excellent job, it is small and lightweight, doesn’t make a mess when connected to my shop vacuum and I don’t feel any vibrations when using it. I cut lots of small items on my CNC Router and needed a sander that was small and lightweight to these items once I take off the CNC. The RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless 5-inch Random Orbit Sander is just perfect for this task. The sander comes with three sanding discs (80, 120, and 220 grits) and a dust collection bag. I put the dust collection bag away in a cabinet and connected the sander to my shop vacuum; this collects all of the dust and keeps my shop from filling with dust. I highly recommend the RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless 5-inch Random Orbit Sander.

Portable, convenient, very good performance and results, good quality and value.
This Ryobi 5 inch random orbit hook and loop sander is a very nice addition to my battery operated tools. I have not abandoned all of my corded tools which still come in handy for large projects, but am relying more on the convenience and portability of the battery powered tools. This Ryobi is part of the One+ 18 Volt tool system that uses the same type of battery. I have other Ryobi One+ tools and already have a charger and several 18V One+ batteries, so I only needed the tool. The sander with my 3Ah battery installed is a little heavier than my corded orbit sander, but not significant. It does have a dust collection bag and the dust port can be hooked to a vacuum with an adapter. It seems to perform as well as my corded sander, being limited only by the life of the battery charge. Good quality and value.

          Good Handy Tool
This sander is a god tool to have in your tool box! It is small but heavy enough to give good control when it is sanding. Right out of the box it is ready to go. Just attach the dust pickup bag, stick on one of the three sanding discs included, attach a battery of any of your existing Roybi One tools and turn it on!. I used the 80 grit on a piece of rough wood to try it out. The sander took of the top in just a minute. There was plenty of power and good control. For a quick small job, this cordless sander make the job go fast! I expect this sander to give many years of service and be an asset to my tool set.

I would give it 6 stars if I could
Random orbital sanders are great. They remove material quickly and leave few swirl marks on the finished product. I have two corded models now; one for bare wood, and one for finished wood and other materials that have a tendency to clog the dust collectors. Both do a great job but that darned power cord seems to always be in the way. I have even developed a wrist flick to fling the cord away when need be. Now I have this lightweight 18v Ryobi sander so I don’t have to worry about that. It weighs about a pound less than most corded sanders but still runs at about the same speed (10,000 OPM) as a corded model (8,000 to 12,000 OPM). It has less vibration and noise than those other sanders too! I also like that it uses the same 8-hole hook-and-loop sanding pads as my other sanders. Lately I have been searching for an adapter for my sanders so I can use them with my shop vacuum to get rid of dust. When I contacted Ryobi about an adapter they pointed out that I don’t need one! The dust exhaust is made with a conical shape so that it will directly attach to most 1¼ to 1₇/₈ vacuum hoses without using an adapter. I tried it and it does! The folks at Ryobi really do engineer their tools with the customer in mind.

Great addition to my Ryobi 18v tools.
I am very pleases with the 5" , 18v random orbit sander from Ryobi. I used it to sand off old paint from an old 2x4 to re-use and was very pleased how quickly and evenly thr paint came off. I would also add that the included dust bag caught 95% or more of the dust, leaving very little on the work surface. My one negative about the tool is whit a 4Ahr battery it is battery side off balance, but pretty close balance wise with a 2Ahr. If you are going to work on a large surface you can attach a vacuum hose, either a 1¼" or a 1⅞" hose will fit in or over the dust collection port. If you need a sander, look no further, no cords and can be used with the 175 other 18v tools Ryobi offers.

Nice Sander. Not too loud. Gets the job done.
This orbital sander works pretty well. It uses standard hook n loop sandpaper. The paper that comes with the tool is not amazing (some of the grit came off while sanding), but I'd prefer the quality be more in the thing I'm going to use over and over, not in the paper I'm going to use and trash. The dust collection (without connecting to a shop vac) leaves a little to be desired, but that's the case with most sanders I've ever come into contact with, so not unsurprising. The motor is not too loud, but I would recommend ear protection anyway if you're going to use it for longer periods of time. I haven't tested it a ton, but I do think having a few batteries around would be helpful as I think most cordless sanders tend to use lots of juice. Overall, I would say Ryobi made a pretty good tool here; I'd recommend it. I like having no cords to get caught on things, and if I do connect to a shop vac, it won't get caught/twisted with the power cord either. Definitely a super useful tool to have around.

          Quality and Battery Powered
The Ryobi orbital sander is another Ryobi tool that doesn’t disappoint and lives up to the Ryobi reputation of producing high-quality tools. The additional convenience of have an orbital sander that is battery powered and free of electrical cords that seem to always get in my way is a real benefit. The feel in the hand is exceptional and is easy to guide over the work surface. However, I don’t like the location of the on/off rocker switch button which was hard for me to operate while holding the tool – it very well could be a result of my arthritic hands and not necessarily the design of the tool. The sander includes a dust filter, a hook-and-loop design to attach the sandpaper and a claimed 40% reduced vibration for maximum control which I assume is the vibration that is transmitted to the hand. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend.

Works As Well as Any Cordless but Without the Cord Hassle
I already have a 1/4 sheet palm sander and a paint eater. But, both are corded. I acquired this Ryobi because; 1) it's cordless and I was going to be sanding on high ladders and scaffolding and didn't want a long extension cord to deal with; 2) it has a dust bag for when I sand things indoors, and, I can attach a vacuum hose to the bag mount; 3) it has hook & loop, quick change discs that make switching grits or replacing worn sandpaper a snap and; 4) I already have many Ryobi One+ products with four 18V batteries and two (or three?) chargers. I've only had one Ryobi One+ tool that I've been disappointed in. The rest have all been great. This sander was extremely easy to use. Align the holes on the sanding disc, stick it on and go. The sample Ryobi discs provided seem to be a very good quality. They wear well and don't load up with sanding dust. I've always shied away from the hook & loop design because the sanding discs were multiple times the expense of plain, sanding sheets. Well, no more! I was short sided. The ability to quickly swap discs far outweighs any cost savings compared to trying to cut and fit 1/4 sheets on my palm sander. They're less than $1 each on the HD website. My primary, intended purpose for this sander was to feather out the peeling paint sections on my rough cut, cedar Dutch lap siding on my house in preparation for paint. (see video) I wanted to remove the flaking paint and feather the remaining paint in before priming and paint. But, I didn't want to smooth out the rough cedar as every place I would do that would show up as a smooth patch in the final finish. This Ryobi orbital sander with a fine grit paper was the right design, size and capability for what I was trying to accomplish. And, I don't have to worry about cords! It isn't overly aggressive and it fits in the concave portions of the siding where the paint is pealing away. And, it was value priced. My only caveat and, this is completely user error, is that it is very convenient to grab the sander by the dust bag mount when picking it up. And, the dust bag will slide right off, dropping the sander onto the ground. So, beware. Learn and adjust. So far, I'm quite pleased. If it lasts a few years, it will have been well worth it.

My first orbital sander...I love it.
I have used other corded "Palm" sanders but this is my first orbital sander. It uses the standard Lithium 18V RYOBI Battery system so is interchangeable with my other RYOBI tools. The bottom of the sander has holes for dust collection which match the holes in the sand paper. The paper adheres very tightly to the surface but can be easily removed and reattached as needed. It came with a small sawdust collection bag which can be easily removed for emptying or for when you want to hook the sander to a full dust collection system. I like that this sander's motor runs much quieter than sanders I have used in the past. With the battery attached, it is heavier than I am used to, but not unbearable. I like that the sanding pads can be changed quite easily. Finally, I like the speed of the pad rotation. It is single speed, but slow enough that you can easily control the sander.

          Makes Sanding Fun!
Makes Sanding Fun! Well after a few minutes it gets boring, but at least it doesn’t require any effort. This sander glides easily across the surface. The instructions state that pushing down on the sander is counter-productive so I just gently guided it back and forth across the surface a few times with each grit. I didn’t even need to clamp my workpiece to the table. When you are using the Ryobi Dust Collection Bag, be sure to give a good tap or it will fly off when you turn on the sander. The little bag effectively collects the dust so there is none in the air, but there is a layer on the workpiece. When changing grits I emptied the bag and wiped the workpiece. When I attached my shop vac to the dust port it did a better job of keeping the workpiece clean. Changing the sanding grit was quite easy. For me it is easiest to get the paper aligned correctly if I concentrate on looking at two holes straight across the diameter of the wheel. This is so much easier than using a sanding block! I definitely recommend using this sander even for small jobs. This tool only kit is a very good value if you already have a charger and a couple batteries.

Well Done Cordless Random Orbit Sander
RYOBI ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless 5 - inch Random Orbit Sander (Tool Only) is my first cordless sander. The capability is standard, just does it better. I have several corded sanders, and this one is quieter, less vibration and no cord hassle. It uses 5-inch hook and loop perforated sanding discs and three are included in the box (80, 120, and 220 grit). It comes with a small plastic and cloth dust bag or accepts a 1 7/8-inch or 1 1/4-inch shop hose, It fit my small shop vac hose just fine. Overall dust control with their cloth dust bag is excellent, too. The motor rpm adjusts to the work and should let the tool glide over the work being sanded. The key is not to use extra downward pressure similar to others because creates swirls with an orbital sander, and overloads the motor. I worked on a small piece of stained ply to see how it worked, and everything was fine. It is easy to control, it is not pulling you at all, and all that's needed is to guide it around. I used a 120 grit sanding disc that is pretty aggressive. As for run time, hard to tell didn't test for that, but own plenty of batteries around from other tools. My smallest battery was still going strong when I finished, dropped only one bar. It comes with a three year warranty.

Sanding in the Palm Of Your Hand
The Ryobi Random Orbit sander has a 5 inch disk, and is part of the Ryobi One + cordless power tools. Compared to a few other cordless sanders, I found this Ryobi 5 inch a little heavier than some of the others. At first I thought it would be a problem, but found the extra weight helped when sanding. Where with other sanders that bounced around, this one stays firm to the surface your sanding. One of the nice options of this sander is the dust catcher. You can either use the cloth dust catcher or you could connect a shop vac with the correct adapter. The model I have is a tool only. This allowed me to use one of my larger 18-volt batteries. The random orbiting also allows for a nice even sanding. The sander comes with 3 sanding pads to get you started P80, P120, & P220. This sander will be a great addition to your work shop no matter if you’re a professional carpenter or a weekend DYI!

          Small versatile sander
Used it to prep carousel horse for painting. I highly recommend this as it helps get into tight areas. Used it with a 4ah battery and its manageable but over time the weight will get your tired, so i recommend using a 2ah battery.
