It worked well for what I was using it for. I used it to cut down small trees along my fence line. It cut right through the trunk and worked well for cutting the thicker branches. Lightweight and easy to use. I have never used a chainsaw before using this one. I was able to put on the chain, add the necessary oil and use it following the directions that came with this product. So far, I am happy with my purchase. I am 58 years old and female and like I stated earlier, this was my first time using a chainsaw. I now feel confident using a bigger chainsaw on bigger trees after using this one.

Awesome yardwork saw
I purchased this to trim some branches and basic yardwork around the house. seems like I always need to cut up something. This saw handled everything I threw at it with ease. I was cutting 5" diameter oak limbs like it was nothing. I suggest keeping a few batteries handy dependent on how long you plan to be cutting just to be on the safe side.

    Lightweight and fast cutting
Actually, this was our second saw. The first one didn't run when we got it home. Exchanged it back at Home Depot for a replacement. We did test the replacement in the store to make sure it ran. Inconvenient, but hassle free doing the exchange. The saw came fully assembled. Added the bar oil, checked the chain tension, put in an 18 volt 4Ah battery and cut up 40 walnut logs that were 4 to 6 inches in diameter. We still had two bars of power in the battery when we were finished. The manual bar oil pump may be inconvenient for some, but I had no problem getting used to it. This is a lot easier to use than my small gas powered saw - no mixing fuel, priming and pulling a starter cord. Just add the bar oil, put in a battery, check the tension on the chain and start cutting. I'm not sure about the lifespan of this saw, but right now, I'm very happy with it. I do wish it came with a hard shell case like other chainsaws, but that's not a deal breaker.

Will break, can't get retaining ring, useless
Saw was ok for first two dozen cuts. Then the retaining ring that holds the sprocket came off. This retaining ring is part #670608002 . Ryobi says part out of stock and does not know what dimensions it is. Ryobi support is useless. Saw is useless.

I filled it with oil upon first use, I stored it slightly "nose down" unfortunately later that night I noticed that all of the oil had drained out of the bottom and it was sitting in a puddle

The manual chain oiler is a pain and does not do a good job of oiling the chain and bar.

            Perfect Little Chainsaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace my Jonsereds chainsaw (1978). I don't cut wood for heating my house any longer, but wanted a lighter and easier to start chainsaw to clear small trees, branches, and to cut campfire wood. This saw fits the bill and does exactly what I need! I do only put in a little barchain oil and empty the remaining oil when I finish my project, so I don't have an oily mess like others have mentioned. BTW - my gas saw is an oily mess . . . .

This is a nice saw for what I need to use it for. I have a few big piles of limbs I wanted to cut up and burn. This worked nice for most of them, not great for the smaller ends. It worked great for cutting limbs off some trees and also for cutting up a downed 5 inch tree. Overall it is good for 1-5 inch limbs, anything smaller or bigger it will work but not as good.

              Works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's been working very well. I put a 12" bar and the little extra does help. The 10" it replaced still works great and is used when I get some extra help.

We think that Ryobi are very good items; we always use this brand, we have almost all the tools; and we are happy with them.

goes through wood like a beaver on meth
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had two of the brushed models that ultimately failed. They served me well as I use them a lot. I have a ranch and have to walk miles of fence removing downed trees and repairing wire, A large gas saw is not practical to carry along with the other tools necessary. Cutting from both sides,,these saws can cut to to a 20 inch tree. Hopefully, the brushless model will last longer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works well for small jobs and I don't have to continually start and stop a gas powered saw.

                        ok Saw, NO REPLACMENT PARTS
saw is convient, how every be VERY CARFUL with the chain tensioner. it is very easy to break the little plastic tab that holds the screw that tensions the chain, once that is done you can not get the 6$ to make the saw usable. been trying for a few months i have ordered it multiple times on back order and have yet to get one so my saw is un usable :(

                          Brushless has much more power!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a month ago and so far I am very happy with the saw. I had a 10” Ryobi chainsaw that WAS NOT brushless and it worked great but this BRUSHLESS saw seem to have much more power!

Hello, Homedepotcustomer - We're sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your chainsaw! This issue may be related to chain stretching. (Before replacing the bar, chain, or adjusting the chain tension, stop the motor, wait for all moving parts to stop, disconnect from the power supply or remove the battery pack. Also, wear protective gloves.) All new chains will stretch during the first 20 minutes or so of use. So, when you are using a new chain, you will have to re-tighten the chain every 5-10 minutes or the first 20 minutes to get your chain to the right tension. This happens because new chains have not been heated up before, so when they heat up on the saw they stretch. After you get about 20 mins of use on the chain, it will not stretch or shrink, and you will only have to check the tension before starting a project. Would you please send us an email at Reviews@RYOBItools.com? We'd be glad to provide some assistance! RYOBIOutdoorTools

                            Just dangerously BAD 👎
I bought this yesterday. I had 4 dry wooden pallets I wanted to break down so I could recycle them. I was EXTREMELY disappointed as it did NOT matter how tight I tighten the bar down...it continued to "slip down" and the chain fell OFF while cutting...by the 4th time, I said "screw it, it is going BACK!!!". 😢 (AND normally I am such a Ryobi Fan 😢) The main take away from this review: DANGEROUSLY CHEAP! PLUS...NO Dawgs of any kind!!! Anyone who has used a chainsaw knows that this is a MUST HAVE

                                Great Lightweight Chainsaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really was impressed with the Ryobi Chainsaw when I was looking and recently my gas powered died a death due to alcohol in the gasoline. the ability to plug in your battery and work quickly really appealed to me. I had a pole chainsaw and the weight even with the battery power prohibited smaller quick jobs. Sao far I couldn't be happier thanks Ryobi
