Not the Ryobi I knew
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I made purchase this kit since I needed a reliable hammer drill, not expecting any good performance. But both drill and impact were a surprise! I have a few other drills, not hammer, from those 'Black+Yellow' company which are known for high-end contractor grade tools. But those Ryobi actually performs as good as, or above, the mid-tier products from the B+Y company. -------Drill------- The drill is a bit larger side for its performance, this is 2023 issue, though. But it can even drill a 1/2" hole into a concrete with a few kinks. The 4Ah battery provides good power for it and I'm curious if 6Ah or larger amperage battery was paired with. The mechanical clutch feels like it's not the cheap Ryobi I knew and doesn't show any significant wobble. Except the big size, I think this drill is a perfect for anyone owns a home. -------Impact------- The impact driver is a real kicker. I almost regret not getting this impact sooner. Power wise, when it was paired with 2Ah, it is comparable to the 'B+Y''s previous top of the line impact driver with smarter function. The automatic mode is really interesting. When reversing without significant load, it doesn't rotate continuously, rather stops every second. I think this helps when unscrewing some nuts, preventing nuts dropping due to rotation. Also, the collet seems much better engineered than anything I had. I did not expect an impact driver with this minimal wobble!! Yet, the collet seems lacking a bit of robustness in terms of the quick insert/eject mechanism. Sometimes, you have to pull the collet manually after ejecting a bit which can be a bit annoying sometimes. -------Caveat------- The only a big caveat I can point out is the power brick type of the charger. I have experienced with Ryobi One+ lawn mower with 2 4Ah batteries. Its charger has a simple 2 prong outlet connector. But this kit comes with the charger with a brick style outlet connector which eats up some space!! Also the kit itself is lacking the belt clip, unlike some competitors.

        Great Product and Ecosystem
Was struggling to decide on which ecosystem to join, was leaning towards Milwaukee but the price point and massive selection ultimately lead me to buying my first Ryobi tools. All ready planning on ordering the new AWD 40V mower come spring, the new stick vacuum that we’re just announced when they become available. Hoping to add the link system and cabinets to the garage once things warm up and get it all cleaned out aswell !

Awesome Power and a Necessary Upgrade
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I kept waiting for my, almost 20 yr old, Ryobi tool set to break so I could upgrade them. Finally, I just decided to upgrade even though they all still work great! These new tools are amazingly more powerful and full of cool features and I can't wait to start a few projects with them.

Though I haven't used all the tools in the kit, I'm well pleased and throughly satisfied. I look forward to using them all & farther adding additional tools.

            Incredible performance!
Ok, I’ve long maintained that the P238 impact driver was hands down the best performing tool Ryobi makes. That’s no longer the case. I upgraded my brushless P238 impact driver and P251 brushless hammer drill with the newer PBLHM101 brushless hammer drill and the PBLID02 brushless impact driver. Holy smokes, these things are the real deal and make my older brushless drill and impact seem like toys. The PBLID02 has TONS of power and the new electronic speed control with assist mode is so much nicer to have than just the 3 speed switch like the old one. This thing has the nuts to break every bit and socket adapter I throw at it. 2,200 in/lb of torque is the truth. The new hammer drill is a lot better than the old one too, more compact, with a lighter feel than a typical hammer drill. I didn’t really use the old one unless I absolutely needed to drill in hammer mode as my regular drill was more comfortable to use, this one is even more comfortable than that so this is now my primary drill. I really appreciate they now use a metal to metal assist handle and not just a bolt through the plastic housing. This new one feels stout! If you’re on the fence even a little bit, do yourself a favor and get this drill and impact, I have no doubt it’s more powerful than you would expect!

I've used the Drill Driver and Impact for a few months now and have been very happy. The Drill Driver works very well, plenty of power. I've used it in Wood, Screws in Sheet Metal, drilling 1/8" steel and in cement block wall. It's had plenty of power and has never stalled or given me trouble. All applications have been 3/4" or smaller. I have used a 1" paddle bit in 2x4 (soft wood) and no issues. Battery life on the 4ah hp battery has been more than I would have expected and I'm happy. For the Impact, It's work very well. I have found the 2amp battery that comes in the kit does not last long and does not offer much power. You will see in the pictures, I us a 3 AH HP battery (21700 cells) and it makes a WORLD of difference. I highly recommend getting one for this impact. With that or larger battery, it's is fantastic. The charger is different than what normally comes in these kits, but as far as I can tell, it's jus cosmetic as I have not noticed any difference compared to the other ones.

                Great Product
I am obsessed with the new Ryobi One + products with their interchangeable batteries. This set is great. Very powerful motor. I drilled into concrete with ease. Battery last a long time and recharges fast. Love the bag for keeping all the pieces together. Durable. Everything I need to get the job done. Highly recommended.

This is my first use of cordless hammer drills and impact drivers. To test the drill I used a 4 inch star bit deck screw. I drilled in a knotty seasoned pine board. The screw went in out back out several times with ease until it was too hot to handle!. I tested the impact driver with a 3/16 x 3 inch lag bolt. I ran it into the knotty pine several times as quick as I could change direction. Finally the lag bolt got so hot it broke! To sum it up. both these drills have ample power. The quick change feature of the impact driver is very handy.

The Ryobi One+ Hammer Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Kit proved to be a really nice package to handle home construction and maintenance tasks. First, the tool bag is really convenient and holds the equipment and batteries for onsite projects. Second, the charger’s status lights provide instant readings on the battery’s charge levels and a “green” alert when charging is complete. There are two sizes of batteries with the kits so that you’re prepared for either light or heavy-duty jobs. The hammer drill and impact drivers themselves are solid tools and were efficient for the household tasks that I needed accomplished. I liked the grip on each tool and was really please with their performance.

Here we go again. I can not get enough of the RYOBI tools because of the GREAT system of 18 volt ONE battery for all the power tools you will ever need. I just don't mean that lightly as I have forgotten just how long I have used the Ryobi products but I really believe there is none better for the investment costs or performance. This is one practical combination package of the impact wrench and hammer impact drill to tackle the tough jobs. I highly recommend them.

I've been a Ryobi fan for a few years now, for both the workshop and garden. This drill set is my second foray into their 18V One+ line. the other being an electric mower. I have to say it is nice to have interchangeable batteries and chargers for multiple tools. My workbench was getting rather crowded with chargers. I like both of these drills. Both can deliver some serious power - torque. It actually took me a little bit to get used to. Nice balance on both. The clutch is sturdy and easy to operate. One of my favorite things is the light on the base where the battery fits on which uplights the work surface. The are a bit heavier than my other drills. The auxiliary handle is sturdy and goes on and comes off simply. The bag is a plus - easily fits both drills, two batteries and the the handle. Highly recommend! No complaints at all.

These are part of the new Ryobi One + line of products which all use interchangeable batteries and chargers. Once you have a several batteries and a charger, you can purchase "tool only' products and use your existing batteries. Batteries charge fast and last a long time; even fully charged batteries retain their charge when not in use for an extended time so you can grab and go, knowing you have enough power to get the job done. The hammer drill and the impact driver are powerful! A flick of a switch changes direction and the bag makes it easy to store and carry. Really good size and weight makes them comfortable to use. Durable and sturdy (yeah, I dropped one). As a bonus, they have amazing customer service. I had a need to contact them (not an issue with the product but an error on my part). You get a real person who goes out of their way to help you! Highly recommend any and all of the Ryobi One + products. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED .

Wow, what an amazing upgrade. The old blue drill will be retired to my son as a hand me down, still works great. It was a really nice Father's day gift over a decade ago... However I wanted to try out the new brushless product that I heard so much about. They do deliver. At first I was a bit disappointed as the tools seemed top heavy. Silly me, when the battery is attached the balance is very nice and both are smaller then the original tools, a big plus for me. With respect to the drill, nice and balanced really powerful on the low speed. However on high speed I can stop the chuck with my hand and the battery will shutdown with the led flashing. Probably a good idea to save the battery as I imagine it is going into over current condition. Putting the drill into the low speed mode, it more torque mode. I cannot stop it so when I need more torque, I have a good setting for my needs. With respect to the impact driver, the original again goes to my son. What I really like about this upgrade is the different settings, my old one only had one setting. This one has high, medium and low plus an auto mode. They call it assist mode. In reverse it pulses about six times and then speed up. In the forward direction it starts slow and then speeds up. This should help with those really difficult fasteners. The battery charger is much smaller and looks nicer than the original, however it does have a wall wart that now makes it difficult to use with the power stip I have on my bench. The bag, for me I won't use it, not sure if others do... if you do need a bag it is okay quality everything will fit nicely. It would have been better if there were pockets to keep everything organized and protected. If tge tool bag is going to be used to carry the tools in, highly likely it will get tossed around a bit making the pockets or dividers useful. Understand Ryobi desire for common parts, I've seen velcro dividers that work great for my old video camera. Just an idea for those who will use the bag.

This changed my perception of RYOBI
This kit completely changed my preconceived notions about Ryobi products for a working professional. I highly recommend this combo kit. With lithium ion batteries, upgraded electronics, and brushless motors, Ryobi has entered best-in-class with its HP series. These tools look, feel, and are at the quality level of the top brands. Speaking strictly on the quality of each item: The batteries feel robust. So far, the battery life enables to me to get through an entire workday on one charge. The battery life push button verification is a nice feature. The hammer drill has a beautiful 1/2” 3-jaw keyless chuck, 22 driving settings (to avoid breaking fastener heads), a drill setting, and a hammer drill setting. It also has a built in LED light, and a switch for both high and low speed. The trigger is also variable speed. It is therefore versatile, and also strong with 750 in. lb. of torque. It has a typical 3-position direction switch too. I feel like I can drop this tool from a ladder, and count on it surviving. This is well made! The impact drill has a 1/4” collet and delivers eye-popping torque up to 2,200 in-lbs. I love the “assist mode” feature that actually pulses on a bit 6-times before backing it out, when set to reverse. It also has 3 more impact modes. It has a normal 3 position direction setting switch, and built in LED light. The tool bag is padded on all sides. I tried, and it does fit the entire contents of this kit. I’ll probably use it for holding the batteries and charger. The printed cardboard box had all items neatly packaged within. I merely had to open the box, and pull out the tools. Lastly, how do you beat a 3 year warranty on the batteries and tools? Very pleased!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this to rehab a large deck and so far it's done all I've asked it to do, I've been driving hundreds of 3" deck screws and it just keeps spinning! I like the torque adjustments available on this model.

As other reviews state: Wobble Wobble is Right!
Got one for Christmas as a gift. We own another set from about 3 years ago and I needed an additional one so my wife got me one. I returned it and paid more for a competing product, why???? The run out on the impact driver was so bad. I realize Ryobi is not Makita, Festool or Hilti, but at least should be saleable for what it is. I emailed Ryobi as well to let them know how disappointment I was. The unit I got should have never made it into a box. Other downsides this felt heavier than the 18v models I already own from Ryobi. Better built is one thing but I think this is not necessarily using heavier material for a better build, but just trying to imply it's better built. Best solution, buy any other brand of a similar item, and if you use it a lot, buy the best you can afford.
