        Excellent design and grip
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very glad I bought this drill. It is perfect for those hard to reach places that my regular drill cannot reach. It’s grip and design make it some much more easier to get the leverage I need to either drill holes or unscrew fasteners in those tight hard to reach places.

          My favorite drill by far
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Compact Brushless Right Angle Drill was exactly what my toolbox was missing. I received this gift for Fathers Day and couldn’t wait for it to come in the mail. I immediately put a battery in it and started tightening screws in tough to reach spaces when it arrived. The 2 speed gearbox, onboard LED work light, and the compact design makes this my favorite drill. I highly recommend anyone needing a drill for tough to reach screws to buy this one. My favorite feature is the LED work light right below the chuck. I wish all drills and impact drivers had the light in that spot.

            Works Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I own many Ryobi brand tools as they are the only brand I buy. I bought this drill a couple weeks ago to specifically help me on a pop out entertainment center that I've been working on in my house. I couldn't quite get my screws in with my impact drill in a few places and this drill worked amazing. Would recommend to anyone building in tight spaces.

Battery sticks out way past the chuck
My issue with this drill is that the battery sticks out almost 3/4s of an inch past the end of the chuck. I was mounting shelf brackets with 45 degree angle supports, and I had one screw in already, but the second hole required a right angle drill. I grabbed my newly bought Ryobi HP right angle drill with a smile, thinking that I'd make quick work of this common problem, but I could only drill the hole part way, because the battery hit the wall. This defeats the purpose of having this tool.

New HP Right Angle Drill is dangerous!
This tool will certainly be replaced soon by Ryobi. For some unfathomable reason they have replaced the rubber grip on the chuck with hard plastic. You WILL be injured if you try to tighten the chuck with your bare hand. Also, the bump where the LED light is is a serious pinch point. If you're not careful it can pull in your skin. Aside from how dangerous this tool is the packaging is misleading. It is labeled as part of the HP series of tools but lacks extra battery contacts that the HP batteries have. Stick to the older version of this tool.

Useful tool . . . with some limitations.
For starters, I've owned this drill for several years now, and it works really well in tight spaces. I recommend it for drilling holes in tight spaces that are 1" or less in regular 2-by stock or 1-1/2" through OSB. Anything over that is just a bit too much for this high-geared battery drill. You have to know your tool's limitations and what kinds of drill bits work best for the job you're doing. A year and a half ago my wife and I bought a not-quite 80-year-old home that needed a lot of upgrades, starting with re-running all the old, rusty iron freshwater pipe with PEX and moving on to updating some old (and badly done) wiring done by a prior homeowner, adding concealed, in-the-wall network, cable TV, and telephone wiring to several rooms, and adding a couple of new circuits and plugs. Most of this work was done in the basement with a few new runs going inside an interior wall to the attic. I used this Ryobi One 90-degree drill to bore dozens and dozens of holes through the floor joists over the basement to run all that pipe and wire. It's a solid tool that's up to the job, but you need to know which kinds of drills bits to use and what the drill's limitations are. Ryobi's One system 90-degree drill is perfectly capable of driving a 1" and smaller self-feed drill bits through 2" dimensional lumber, even the 80-year old, hard, dry stock in my home, but you've got to use a bit that does the job efficiently. The self-feed bit like the ones on the right side of my attached picture work well. The spade bit on the left does not cut efficiently and bogs the drill down, as does the corkscrew auger bit next to it that has an overly aggressive cutting angle. You want self-feed bits. The ones in my picture are my go-tos, but any quality self-feed bit with a shallow cutting plane should do. Just keep in mind this drill isn't up to drilling through 2x stock with a larger than 1" bit. I was able to start drilling with my 1-1/2 inch bit, but after half an inch or so of drilling the drill bogs down. This drill just isn't geared right to give it the oomph needed to drive these larger drill bits. In most cases my solution to drilling 1-1/2" holes was to start the holes with this drill, get about 1/2" into the wood, then switch to a standard 2-speed Ryobi One drill set on its low-speed gear, the "1" setting on the top of the drill. The 1/2" pre-drill gave me just enough of a head start that I could fit the standard drill between the floor joists and make the cut. Anything largest than 1-1/2", like waste-line holes, you will need a much larger, much more expensive corded right-angle drill. You can rent them.

                    No Regret
I bought this angle drill because I just had to add it to the Ryobi Tool Family, not necessarily a need. However, I’ve used it more than I should have. It’s the tool I go to to use it as a buffer, grinder, polisher and sander, all by buying attachments available for my applications. I’ve been using for body work on my truck and polish my neighbors’ headlights, several. I can’t list all the jobs I’ve done with it, but if it helps, since I got it, I stopped using all the corded and air tools. It has a perfect balance and weight. Because it has two speeds, it’s perfect for all types of work other than just drilling. I just wish there was a handle for better grip, but I guess that I’m using it for things not intended to. Some of the attachments I bought are threaded, but they work well, regardless. I haven’t used it as a drill, therefore I don’t know how well it is for drilling. I’ll probably use it as a baking mixer before I use it as a drill. I might try it on setting horseshoes. I’m sure there are hundreds of uses, some of them, I will not list because I don’t want anyone trying. It literally is my go to tool.

                      Best Angle Drill Made
This angle drill is the best. Powerful and 2 speeds with variable speed trigger. Keyless chuck works great and grips tight without having to retighten. 18+ batteries last a long time. The drill is not too heavy and is easy to use. I highly recommend this quality product.

This is Maxwell Smart's and Inspector Gadget's drill. Inspector Clouseau? Maybe not There is an old joke where a cartoon character has a fire arm bent at a 90° angle. They proudly display it, whilst casually explaining,"This, is for,... around corners". Well this is the drill for drilling around corners. It has the Ryobi name, a name I have come to respect. My first cordless drill was a Ryobi bought in the early 80s. It got the job done, as a new homeowner, OK, but as a professional maintenance mechanic maintaining his own home, let's say, it was within my budget, but felt lightweight. Years later I picked up a Ryobi or two when I needed one for a particular job, and they felt much different. I understand a major toolmaker bought the name around 1988. I'm not sure I'm allowed to say this, but Ryobi Tools are made by the same parent company as Milwaukee tools. So at this time I have a lot of Ryobi tools and I like them. This drill feels good in the hands. It was a little heavy but I had one of the bigger Ryobi cordless tool batteries on it. This is one of the occasions where, Mies Van Der Rho's, famous words,"Less is More", would apply. Put one of your smaller Ryobi interchangeable batteries on because, you're probably not drilling a 100 tight-clearance holes. So, all you'll need is your small Ryobi battery. The hole I tried to drill, I was unable to,demonstrated in my attached photos. I used a standard drill bit and it was way too long. If you have this and use it you are more or less likely going to need some short drill bits. Would be a way to salvage drill bits you break, sharpen them on the grinder, put them with the stubbies. Nice chuck, nice paddle switch you can access with an odd finger when you have this sweet unit jammed up all in there. Get one for you and your two truest friends. Because, I know, you're gonna wish you had one some day and so are they. Or, you're going to run to Home Depot someday because you need one(Hint: keep an eye on their sales, you might score before you need it). This is a Gold Star gift idea. We all know we need one. But we don't buy one until we need it. There are people you love you can't think of a gift for. If they're handy they may not have this, but when you give it to them, if they don't have one, I guarantee, they are going to kiss you. And if they have one we know they will love the store credit.

The Ryobi One+ HP brushless cordless compact 3/8in right angle drill is a great new tool in an extensive list of Ryobi One+ products. Never owning a right angle drill before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I'm very pleasantly surprised! The box comes with the tool, instructions, and a reversible driver bit. The compact and lightweight design feels great in the hand and provides a long usage without arm fatigue, even with a battery attached. The size and shape of this drill makes it ideal for working in tight spaces and places where normal drills just don't fit. Gone are my days of drilling screws in at an angle between wall studs - this tool is perfect for that use, drilling screws straight in! The long trigger also allows operation from a variety of different grips and angles. Additionally, the trigger is pressure sensitive for the entire length, allowing multiple speeds no matter where gripped. Finally, the built-in LED light near the tip is great for improved visibility in those tight spaces. Having never owned a tool like this before, I don't think I'll ever be able to do without it again. It really does make all projects quicker and easier...and far less frustrating! Overall, this is a great product for a wide variety of projects, and Ryobi really hit a homerun with this new line!

I received this 3/8" Ryobi One Plus compact right angle drill and needed to drill 3/4" holes thru floor joists and didn't have enough room for a full size drill with spade bit. This right angle drill worked great had plenty of Power with the 3/4" spade bit. The LED built-in light came in very handy to see clearly I have other Ryobi One tools and this is a nice addition didn't find anything to complain about

I already have a number of Ryobi cordless 18 volt power tools and there have been occasions that I need a close quarters drill. I compared the features of the Ryobi to other brands, however, the Ryobi suited my needs perfectly - especially since I already have Ryobi chargers and batteries. The features that stood out for me is the grip and trigger/paddle design. I found that it provides a comfortable feel while maintaining complete control of the drill speed. I also like the placement of the forward/reverse switch; it's not obtrusive so that it is accidentally moved. The LED light is perfectly placed just above the paddle so my hand doesn't block it and has a great aim angle. The gear control switch is sort of out of the way on the back of the drill. This location makes one-handed gear changes pretty much impossible, but that is a small con since I typically don't change gear speeds often while on the same drilling task. I also like the sleeve chuck. This is really helpful when working in tight spots. The sleeve check prevents the chuck from marring the surface if if comes in contact with it. Power and speed is better than I expected - that likely be due to the brushless motor. Very impressive. The drill is at 12 inches without the battery.

Very handy 3/8 inch right angle drill. Very powerful brushless motor is easy on the battery life. Ryobi 18 volt batteries fit all 18 volt tools which is a real plus. The drill is compact enough to get into fairly tight places to drill or drive a screw. The variable speed trigger with high and low speed switch makes adjustments quick and easy to drive screws. I highly recommend this quality tool.

The RYOBI Brand, ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 3/8 in. Right Angle Drill (Tool Only) is an outstanding value for RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V tool owners owning RYOBI Lithium+18V batteries used with their other RYOBI tools. Myself, I use my RYOBI cordless garden tools to maintain my landscaping around my home on a regular basis, such that my RYOBI batteries are always charged and ready for use. I selected the RYOBI right angle drill as a replacement for my 20-year old angle drill having weak batteries. My old drill was only a single speed transmission with 3/8 chuck which is common to most angle drills. The RYOBI angle drill has a two-speed transmission and brushless motor. I don’t often use an angle drill, yet when one is needed, nothing else will do. My first need for an angle drill was to remove broken fasteners from my car’s engine exhaust manifold. Later I found my angle drill indispensable for working inside walls to run new wiring through wall studs, fire blocks, or the top plates of walls. Virtually every auto mechanic or trade person working construction at one time or another will need an angle drill for the job. The RYOBI angle drill has outstanding speed and torque for a cordless drill. The drill motor supplying 350 in.lb. torque and equipped with a 3/8 chuck, will easily drive reduced shank bits and hole saws in wood, plastic or metal projects.

RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 3/8 in. Right Angle Drill. I have mixed reviews of the new Ryobi 3/8 inch compact right angle drill. The drill’s small size allows it to fit in tight areas much easier than a full–size drill and its light weight makes it easy to handle. The brushless motor gives the drill lots of power and the two speed switch along with the variable speed trigger allows you to deliver the correct speed on any task. I especially like the LED lighting because tight spaces are seldom well lit. And, the Ryobi three-year warranty and the ONE+ battery system are unprecedented. Even though I really like the size, weight and feel of the drill as well the power that it provides; I miss the clip for drivers and the onboard magnetic tray that has become so prevalent on other battery powered tools. And, the chuck seems very shallow; I found it difficult to chuck the double-ended driver that was provided with the tool. But, a deeper chuck would probably make the tool heavier and bigger which would take away from its intended purpose. I recommend the RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 3/8 in. Right Angle Drill because the size, weight and power of the tool outweigh the missing clip for drivers, the onboard magnetic tray and the shallow chuck.

This new Ryobi 3/8 inch compact right angle drill takes up just 3.6 inches of space. It has a very handy chuck that makes for quick change. The variable speed paddle trigger is coupled with a switch that permits selection of two motor speed ranges. In position ONE, the speed variable is 0 - 450 RPM. In the second position the speed range is 0 - 1,700 RPM. This is a light weight, yet powerful drill providing 350 in/lbs of torque. The tool includes a very useful LED work light. Like many other Ryobi tools, this one comes with a 3-year warranty.

I bought this when I was building a trailer for my new generator. Needed it to drill holes under the generator with a stubby 3/8 inch bit and it worked great. Plenty of torque and had no slippage. An perfect addition to my Ryobi tools.
