This saw is powerful and makes good use of a single charge on the 4.0 battery. I have retired my little gas saw for good! I love the relative quiet of the battery saw. Now I look forward to cutting back the jungle of Hau bushes on our 2 acres in Hawaii. I am female and over 70, this saw works for me!

It is light weight and powerful. Great battery.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This chainsaw has great power to cut through hardwoods easily. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a tool to take care of smaller trees, I love thischainsaw.

    Motor fried
I love Ryobi tools. They're the best value for the diy'er. Battery life has been great, and tool variety matches. But this chainsaw motor, along with the lightweight 8" chainsaw are terrible. After very little use the motors in both this saw, and the P5452 8", broke apart inside causing them to short-circuit. The motor for this one is discontinued, so I can't repair it. I'd buy a replacement, but I fear the same outcome. Should've bought the 40v. My nephew's 40v works better than my stihl.

      Essential for homeowners
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This chainsaw paid for itself the first time I used it. It is a beast! Used two 4ah batteries over 3 hours to clean up my yard from storm damage/downed tree limbs. Thickest limb was about 8"

          I like it
Now I know tool only means. It's a good thing I have a battery already from my edger because I needed for my chainsaw. It will come handle when I can use it for small projects outside.

This little chain saw is great * battery life 2
It cut a whole bunch of oak tree branches and limbs. It's light and the battery lasted an hour before running out. It's a bigger battery that I got a to get more done. Great product. 👍

              Got the job done...
I am continuously surprised at this lil pocket beast. I have 2 excellent gas chainsaws, but prefer to use this when I can. Need to set it down, no problem. No need to re-pull to start. No fumes, no need for ear protection. One (1!!!) battery did what needed done after tree went down in front yard. No muss, no fuss. Strong lil bugger.

Love my 18 volt Ryobi tools
I've now graduated to the outdoor tools. so we're starting to test them out by trimming up some of the trees after the cold winter. and they are great. I got the weed wacker first and it did such an amazing job I went to the blower the fogger and now the tree chainsaws both small for a little jobs anything bigger and I will call my tree guy. Love that they are lightweight easy for me to handle. no chords and no gas to mix That's a win all the way around

                  Cheap
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for Christmas and just opened (April) . After charging the battery I put it to use and cut a few small limbs that were hanging low , the chain jumped and so I went to take the cover off and fix it but as you see pictured the adjustment Bolt shot out the side of the plastic casing the top plate is metal but everything else around it is plastic. Highly disappointed in the quality.

Made quick work out of a fallen tree
I went to my parents house when they told me they had a fallen tree in their driveway. I didn’t know how useful this chainsaw would be. I was shocked when I cut off branches and cut through a 8 in trunk twice on a single charge. Cleared the tree out in 30 min. It’s a good tool to have to get you out of a bind. It’s not going to chop down most trees, but it will be there when you need it to make some lighter work. Don’t make it do more than it can and it will work well.

This chainsaw did a very good job!!! Highly recommended. The battery lasted longer to finished the job... 4Ah battery lasted longer that i thought... I'm a 5'2" woman and managed to clean this mess...loving it!!! Good buy... it paid itself already.

I have an older model as well both performed great....
I have an older model as well both performed great. I expected the power to not be in par with the 40V chainsaw anyway. Cuts slow but that is why a good chain for this is critical. I had to modify the plastic protrusion guide to be able to tighten a 16” bar and chain (powercare bar) by shaving off with a dremel tool. there is a felt liner so use a blade to peel off carefully first before shaving. Otherwise good tool was able to cut up to 16”-20” trunks. chain gave out after 8 cuts. A full chisel might be best for this for faster cuts (but may bind/kickback) in very hard wood like what I was cutting.

                        Impressive power
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have many 18V Ryobi tools. Bought this chainsaw a few months ago but only used it last week after our ice-storm, trees down everywhere. This little 10" 18V chainsaw chewed through everything. Many limbs were over 10" thick. Now considering the 40V line of Ryobi tools!

Purchased this tool only saw to do trimming after felling several trees --- HOWEVER, after roping off the tree to be felled, my old gas saw literally died on me --- so that left me with only one option, to use the little saw to FELL three trees --- and all the trees were hickory and all in the 60 to 70 foot range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very pleased with this saw! It cuts a lot of wood on one battery. Cut all this and had two bars left on the battery.

I got it to trim branches from larger logs to run through a chipper. I decided to test its capabilities on larger trees and it thoroughly impressed me. It went through several small trees and branches , (6" plus), with ease.

Good little saw with a major flaw
Runs and cuts well. Decent power considering the size and powertrain, and with some patience, can handle more than small branches. One BIG problem -- after 1-2 hours of runtime, the chain oil just stopped flowing. I took the saw apart and cleaned out all the sawdust and debris, to no avail. The clog is clearly internal -- no amount of pushing the bulb will cause the oil to flow. I've ended up stopping to manually oil the chain periodically. That's unacceptable, especially in a new saw. Serious design flaw. I'm now shopping for a new (non-Ryobi) saw.

                                      Super for light duty
I am a 67-year-old woman who pruned my big Palo Verde tree with the Ryobi pole saw. That worked great but wanted to cut up the bigger branches for firewood. I went to Home Depot and bought this 18 V chainsaw and used the same battery from my pole saw. It worked just fine and was easy for me to use. I used gentle pressure and it cut through the wood quite easily. I am taking it Camping because I have solar panels that are charging the battery right now. The only thing I wish it had was automatic chain oil like the pole saw had but it is not difficult to do anyway. You just push a button on top every few minutes to keep it lubricated.

It did a good job cutting up a tree that fell. Unbelievable power. I like the ryobi line up. One battery fits my nail gun. Router. Jig saw. Sander. Chain saw. The only negative thing i can say about the saw is. It will leak all the bar oil out within two days. I learned to not fill it up if im not going to use it a lot. All n all its a good little saw.

                                            Hurricane Hero
On August 27 we were struck by Hurricane Laura. On August 28 we returned to our home to assess the damage and had to cut our way through fallen trees to reach our shed. Once we had retrieved our chain saw, it was a true workhorse. We ran it continuously 4-5 hours a day for multiple days as we cut tree limbs into manageable sizes. We plugged the charging station into our generator and kept it going for hours. We have owned it for a couple of years for light trimming around the yard, but it went above and beyond in the disaster’s aftermath.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best bang for the buck out there. Light enough for single hand use. Very capable but it does "buck" a bit due to the slow chain speed on small branches. Can anyone tell me why every chainsaw in the world leaks oil please?

                                                Lightweight and easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a volunteer for the local Forest Preserve District and have been clearing invasive trees and brush for nearly 30 years. In that endeavor, I have used gas chainsaws. Where much of the work I do requires the power of a gas chainsaw, there are some work sessions that the gas saw is a bit much so I purchased the battery powered saw. It is extremely lightweight, which as I am nearly 70 years old is a big plus. It is easy to operate and pretty straightforward. Since my years have been spent with a gas chainsaw, it is difficult for me to "switch gears" when using the battery powered saw. You can't approach cuts the way you can with a gas saw and with a manual bar oiler on the battery saw, you have to remember to press the bulb during use so that the bar gets oiled. Oiling is automatic on my gas Ryobi. This little saw will never replace a gas chainsaw, but definitely has its' place when the work to be done is smaller.

                                                Love This Little Chainsaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this chainsaw to replace an old Remington corded electric chainsaw that the switch had broken on and that I used for fire mitigation as part of the Fire Wise program that my development participates in. Not only am I no longer constrained by a cord and able to clear a much bigger area, but the life of the battery matches my energy level. When I'm ready for a break, the battery needs to be recharged, In fact, it sometimes outlasts me. The chain cuts through deadwood like butter (hard butter) and through greenwood like soft butter. I'm looking forward to purchasing more ONE+ tools and going cord-free!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On my sister's recent visit, she asked if I needed anything for my house. I replied quickly, "A small chain saw!" This model is small but mighty! We used it every day for 4 days to clear my backyard of Box Elder and Norway Maple trees that were taking over. The trees were 4-6" in diameter and 12-18' tall. The saw was easy to handle, had good battery power and was swift in cutting the limbs down to "haul away" sizes.

Bought this chainsaw for small branch trimming. Worked great for a couple of months but then the chain came off and now it never stays on. There is a small Allen key to open the saw and put the chain back in while the other end is used as a chain tensioner. The tensioner is weak. In hindsight I should have used the money towards a better saw. (I do use the bar oil)
