These batteries last especially during hurricane season

I have 2 quite expensive 3 cell and 2 cell LED Maglite D cell lights. The 3 cell was ruined due to batteries failing before their time. All batts. were dated Dec. 2017. It is July 2016 and wanted to check my Hurricane lights before our Fl season starts. I caught the 2 cell just as they started to leak. The 3 cell was corroded closed and I had to use a 16lb. sledge to split the alum. casing in half to see what batts. were in it. I have great pics if anyone is interested. The electronic fly swatter was leaking in my hands when I went to kill a wasp and that is what started my whole ordeal. Not to happy Ray O vac.

Right now, I have 8 D cells marked DEC 2014. Admittedly they are beyond date. But the issue is not how long they hold charge. (They were bought back when we had gear that ate D batteries like mad, but is unused now.) Several of them have relatively good charge for their age, but 3 have leaked. One ruined a new LED flashlight it was in along with 2 that stayed OK. After cleaning it up some, I wanted to test and found I had 5 more of the same battery and one had leaked badly and one a bit. I am not very impressed! I can live with batteries dying. I don't expect them to leak in 2016 (or 2014).

As mostly every flashlight in the house was not working for dead batteries, this is good cure at a reasonable cost if you do not need them right away. As these batteries sometimes sell for $2 apiece some places, I got them here for under a buck. Also, since I needed a couple of other items, they were shipped to my door for free. They seem to be working fine (I put them in the flashlights and they make a bright light). Now all my flashlights are working, life can be beautiful. So if you need batteries, but not right away, this is the way to go as they are not stocked in the HD stores.

Batteries good as Duracell

Don't pay more for a better perceived brand! Buy Rayovac instead.
