We had a new deck built in July and waited until November to stain it. After reading many reviews, I decided to go with Ready Seal. I ordered the sample set of stain colors directly from Ready Seal to choose the right color for us. I checked the moisture content in the wood to be sure it was under 12% before adding the sample stain. After deciding on the Natural, I cleaned the wood with a Clorox solution before staining the whole deck since it was a pressure treated pine. We chose the Natural (Light Oak) stain and are very happy with the color. We put two coats on and it is beautiful; the stain went on so easy! Highly recommend!
My fiancee bought a house last January from flippers. The used a BEHR product called: "Deck Cover Up" ( DO NOT USE that product---ugh awful stuff. It goes on like pudding) to paint over the existing wood deck. Who knows if they followed the can directions, but it began to peel almost as soon as he moved in. So we power washed it off for 4 hours, and then sanded the rest off for another 4 hours to get it back to the natural deck boards. Then we applied this product. It was very easy to use. Very forgiving, and easy clean up. Best of all, the wood came out beautifully.

I have the standard cedar/redwood fence and this stain is the best I've ever found. The first application was made 2 years ago and I applied another touch-up application to my fence this year (only needed to buy half the amount of stain for this touch-up compared to the first application). I like the way this oil based stain penetrates the wood (cedar and redwood) and protects it from the weather and sun exposure. The gallon stain mixes easily but during the first application I noticed that it seems like the pigment settles rather quickly. I applied the stain with a brush and am stirring the gallon frequently. I feel that making sure the gallon is consistently well mixed has resulted in getting a uniform color application to my fence.

Great product, worked as advertised! Used a tank sprayer and worked excellent. I would recommend to all my neighbors! I really wish they would do something!! Makes your fence look brand new! I did two coats and then put two coats of CWF clear on top for an extra sheen. That was a lot more work since it is too thick to spray on, disaster in the tank sprayer, so I ended up brushing it on. I sprayed 10 gallons of Ready Seal in 5 hours, and it took me 11 hours to brush on the CWF and only 5 gallons of that. Ready seal is much thinner and fast to put on, but soaks in to the wood. I will definitely buy again when it starts to fade. You can do this, Husqvarna tank sprayer was $25 and expected to throw away when done, but sloshed around some mineral spirits and ready for the next time. Happy staining!
