We restructured our kitchen increasing cabinet heights & depths. In the layout, we discovered a 5 inch gap that would normally just have been a large spacer. It was too small for pan storage due to the door opening, so we looked and found the Rev-A-Shelf 3in pull out spice rack to be a perfect fit. It has been installed right next to the stove as a lower cabinet. I would have rated this higher (5 stars) but I found the instructions confusing with poor pictures and directions. I also searched online and only found 1 video that helped me quickly understand what was needed, but it too may also be confusing for beginners. The rack also was a bit rough on the first few pulls, so I put roller lube on top and bottom guides and it slides great now & even better after more use. Please don't get me wrong we Love this spice rack, This is an incredibly useful, and well made addition to our cabinets. The shelf works perfectly and was a bargain for us.... I installed it next to a dishwasher, so put a 1/4" side panel on dishwasher side (the outer frame). It stays fixed in place, so the slide out still has access to both sides. I did it the same way you'd put a back panel on a cabinet, using a pin nailer.
Excellent quality at a great price. Normally I'd build something like this myself, but if you factor in the cost of the drawer slides and those metal shelf guards, it wouldn't be cost effective to make one. I just finished installing it after watching a youtube video of someone who installed this in pre-existing cabinets to an end cabinet. It took some figuring out, but was successfully installed and in a small kitchen it's good to use as much space as you can.
FYI, it's made of plywood with facing to hide the plywood ends, so it looks like maple, well built. You can only fit 2" wide spice jars or bottles on it, though. The directions could be better, but there are several decent videos on youtube that will help you decipher them.
Easy install and quality product; the glide mechanism is very smooth. Others who have seen the finished product are now thinking of getting one for their own kitchen. The installation instructions could be more user friendly and before you buy this product, be aware that it does not come with the finished face plate as shown in the image. I knew this from reading other posts, and it was a simple fix utilizing the cabinet pieces that I still had from my original kitchen install.
Pros: Convenient, Looks Great, Nice Design, glide mechanism very smooth
