My old water heater was leaking. So I got this one. I was going to install it myself but my wife insisted we call a plumber to do it. He came out and installed it and right from the box IT DID NOT WORK.
Now its installed and I have to deal with Rheem it get a part that not even Home Depot carries. Also it seems Rheen's 7 day a week hotline is not open during times that someone from California can call them without taking a whole day off work.

didn't work after install
Bought two water heaters (WH) to replace one dead and one almost dead. spent half day installing, mostly trying to level the tanks. one tank was low in the middle so it was rocking. try leveling that in a space with another water heater, furnace, and a water softener. there is plenty of ventilation, just the way the room was piped made things extremely difficult. the dimension on Home Depot said 20.5" but ending up being much wider! after install, the two WH won't start, I got 6-3 (flame loss) and 8-1 (faulty Flammable Vapor Sensor (FVS)) errors. I swapped the FVS, reset (turn off, wait ten minutes, turn on, turn knob low to high 7 times. rinse, repeat, and repeat, and repeat, and...) and now I have two WH with 8-3 errors! called tech support, open 7 days a week, just during business hours though. because I spent too much time troubleshooting the FVS that were dead on arrival, and it's night time. so, no hot water, I'm dirty from a days work beating myself over clunky WH, and computer error codes. I get a nice cold shower! anyway, called tech support this morning, they ask you the serial and the problem and then they transfer you to another tech. kind of like at the doctor's office. wait in the bigger waiting room, and then wait in a smaller waiting room. I left the smaller waiting room because there were 24 patients ahead of me, I've lost my patience. I might reinstall the almost dead WH just so I can have hot water for this household of 9.

New Rheem water heater failure
On July 01, 2020, I bought this model Rhreem water heater. On October 24, 2020, the water heater stopped working (116 days). I called the plumbing company that installed it. They came the next morning. The tech already knew what the problem is. He has seen it before. The "Flammable Vapor Sensor Lockout" was bad. The LED code is 7 blinks with a 3 second breaks. He said his company stopped selling Rheem hot water heaters due to being unreliable.
I spent about an hour on the phone with Rheem tech support. It cost me $30 to expedite the part. I could have gotten free shipping in four days. My wife likes to shower with warm water.
On an unrelated note, at the same time I had a Rheem air conditioning professionally installed. In less than a month, it stopped working. It had to be repaired by the company that installed it.
That's it. I will not buy Rheem again.
