I thought this product was interesting so I tried it. I had no idea it would become so important to me. First off, it just works! Like advertised. It was very easy to set up though I had to smooth out a little stucco to install it. I did have a question at first (though I can't even remember what it was as it now all seems so simple) and customer service was really good, knowledgeable, clear and very helpful. This was not out sourced customer service. So here's the indispensable part. Three days after I install this thing I'm 1000 miles away in New Orleans when my phone rings (it's a specific tone for the Ring) it's a friend standing at my front door who has gone out of her way to drop something off that my wife desperately needs. We had completely forgotten about it. I can't believe I'm looking at her and talking to her. I can see her clearly and we hear each other very well. So to end the story, I tell her how to go around and where to leave the thing safely. My wife is delighted and me and my new "tech" device are heroes. I'm sold. But wait-there's more. The device has a motion sensor on it to activate the camera and record when anything moves nearby. You can adjust the distance at which movement will start the recording or you can choose to turn this function off if you don't want to use it. So it's a security device too. If you choose the service all of your recordings can be saved in the cloud for $3 a month. So two hours or two months from now you can see who picked up the package from your front porch. I'm loving it.

  • Well designed & very well built wireless doorbell

Nice new Ring Video doorbell and it's wireless too. This has a built in camera with 160 degree night vision capability. Everything is motion activated and images are stored in the "Cloud" in case "porch bandits" (as they were referred to on tonight's news) decide to help themselves. Runs off of my WiFi service. My WiFi system was too far away so I had to install the WiFi extender, and I am also installing the optional door bell ring chime due to my home's configuration. This system is extremely well designed & thought out. Also great that all of the necessary tools and parts were included. I also charged my unit overnight with the included USB cord.

Pros Battery Length, Clear Instructions, Compact, Easy Installation, Easy Replacement, Easy to Use, Eco-Friendly, Great Sound Quality, Lots of Features, Motion-Activated, Nice Design, Stylish, Very Bright, very modern

  • When it works, it works great... But when it doesn't ..
  • December 15, 2015

I have had my ring video doorbell for 30 days. I can say it does what it claims to do but not always. Sometimes- When the doorbell rings and I get a notification I hit "accept" on my phone and it just loads forever with out connecting. Another example is that I go back to look at recording history, in try to play back a video and nothing shows up expect for sound. The Video shows up as a black background. It's not my internet connection bc I looked at the speeds (upload and down load) speeds and I am well above the recommended connection requirements. I called customer service and they were not able to help me. Great concept but it still needs work.

Was very easy to setup. Installed it on my home computer with win 10. I can use from home to see who is there and respond to the door bell. Easy to configure the motion detector and adjust the sensitivity. The video is adequate to identify individuals easily, the fish eye lens causes some distortion, but it gives full view of front yard. I had some trouble configuring my wife's iPhone. I have a windows phone so I screwed up the iPhone configuration. I called their tech support. They answered within 20 seconds. The technical support center is the best support that I have ever worked with. I have been a Certified Microsoft Engineer and Instructor since 1995. I speak as a professional when I say their support is excellent.

I LOVE this video doorbell. We installed it on the side of our home where we cannot see anyone coming up our driveway. This is the PERFECT product for this location, as we can talk to anyone who approaches this side of the home without having to go out to that location. This device is about the size of a smartphone, and has excellent visual range. I was able to link this doorbell to my Apple iPhone 5S and it worked perfectly the first time. The printed directions are clear and easy to follow. The RING app downloads flawlessly in a minute. The kit for installation also comes with the proper sized drill bit and screwdriver for attaching the mounting bracket and the secret screws to prevent the unit from theft. I really like this feature. The device allows for sharing to other household users, allows for motion settings including alerts, zones and ranges, and also allows for iCloud storage if desired. The ringtone is loud and very nice on the phone. The longest part of the set-up was the initial charging of the battery. We chose the battery installation, but the unit can also be attached via a wired doorbell installation. The device can be used with apple, android or computer windows 10 technology. The app allows for several of these devices, as each one is personally named for the location around the home. I really like this product and am SO HAPPY to have it on my home. Smart technology is the way of the future and I am very pleased with the features of this particular doorbell.

Ring.com was something i always wanted. I finally got the chance to use it. I installed it within 15 minutes right after work with my work clothes still on. I have it hard wired. this also worked with the electronic chime i already had in my house. The size is a little awkward if you have double 4 siding but worked fine. I used the APP to follow their very easy instructions. I followed them and installed it. It did not work. I called their help desk and they walked me through the troubleshooting. Seems like my unit was defective. Its ok cause these happen all the time with new technology. They sent me a new one within a few days - free of charge. I installed it again and worked fine. The motion is adjustable so you can get more or less alerts. Notifications are great. Video and sound quality is great. Awesome addition to any home.

The technology in this small package is very impressive. The video and sound quality is excellent. The response time when motion is detected is almost instant. Installation was easy and I was able to connect to my existing doorbell wiring which keeps the battery charged and also uses my existing chime. The Ring app is easy to use and has great tutorial videos for installation and use. I purchased the cloud storage for $30 for the year which stores my videos for six months. The fit and finish of the unit is top notch and the brushed bronze finish matches my existing door hardware and front porch light. Pros: Fit and finish Video quality and sound Easy installation User friendly app Cons: The only con is my kids like to video themselves constantly now

This wireless doorbell is provided with everything needed for installation. If you have an existing powered doorbell you can use the wires to provide a constant charge, if not then you'll have to recharge the built-in battery every 6 to 12 months (depending on your usage). You can set the doorbell to alert you when it senses motion (customizable) or when someone pushes the button. You connect the doorbell to your home wireless network (required) and it alerts you on any Windows PCs, Macs, or Android and iOS devices. I found no lag when used with my iPhone and the two way audio was clear. The video feed has a fisheye effect but it perfectly suited for viewing who is at your door. Most burglaries occur when people are not at home, and the burglar often rings your doorbell first to ensure the house is empty. This doorbell provides an extra level of security.

  • Great New Home Automation Toy

Worth every penny. Took me 30 mins to install. i have a hard wire doorbell which sits on top of vinyl siding. I love the very high end looking rubbed bronze look. Goes with every color and matches my door handle. Great step by step instructions which can all be view by the app. The app handles all of the setup. I get alerts every time there is motion in front of the door. You can set your sensitivity range in case you live close to a street and you dont want cars setting this off. Once someone rings the door bell you can easily from your phone select to answer or decline the call. Has 2 way talk and one way video. With the cloud you can record and save videos.

First off, the Ring is very cool. I really like it and many people that come to my front door starting to know what it is. There are some problems however, one very serious (in my opinion). 1 - The motion function engages when people are walking away, not when they walk up. MANY of my videos are of people's living the front door. I don't know if this is a software issue or what. Tried increasing the sensitivity to the point where I was grabbing cars driving down the street but still only got people leaving my front door. Weird. 2 - the response from the doorbell and my phone is more than 20 sec. and when I answer it the video and sound is twitching especially if I'm on same network with the bell like my WiFi. 3 - If you do not answer the alert fast enough, you are locked out-- even though someone is standing at your front door. I cannot conect with the camera from my phone or tablet for as long as the blue light spinning which is some time for more then 45 sec. If someone is there and you have "ACCEPT" and the bell had twich you are doomed, there is just no way to see or talk to them for next 45 sec. This is obviously a software flaw. You should always be able to "wake" a camera remotely and talk to a person at your front door. when I try to view my front and I did not use the bell for couple of days it became unresponsive and when someone ring the bell I do not receive the notification it take the second ring to wake up the bell to do the job that should do it on first ring. Just to clarify my internet speed is 7m download and 3m upload which is not terribly to slow and I'm experiencing these issues. overall the product is good when is working properly it is built wary sturdy and it can be connected to your existing house doorbell at that point you do not have to remove bell for charging, if no existing doorbell is available you will have to remove doorbell on approximately on a weekly base to recharge battery. yas I would recommend this product, what did I find if every morning before leaving for work I personally wake/ring the doorbell I will less likely experience those twitches it will work nicely.

Pros Clear Instructions, Compact, Nice Design, Easy Installation, Easy Replacement, Easy to Use, Motion-Activated, Stylish Cons needs improvements on connectivity
