I purchased this unit for my household and we have one dog. It has only been put through minimal usage. Purchased this unit approx 1 year ago and it worked fine for six months. Now it leaks out the corners of the base unit when it picks up waste water. Also the suction pressure has decreased greatly, it does not pick up the water evenly. The seals on the recovery tank have all but deteriorated and leaks profusely, the clean water tank does not empty while using the unit because it only sprays the water sporadically. I now have to spray the carpet with a separate sprayer and use unit to suck up the water, but you have to go over the area repeatedly to even get an acceptable amount of water sucked up.. Would not buy this unit, it is a waste of time and money. Complicates the cleaning procedure instead of making it simplified. The unit is extremely hard to clean especially the dirty water tank - the design make it all but impossible to clean out the material near the top of the tank which builds up repeatedly. When you turn the unit off it will leak water onto your floor requiring additional cleanup to the area you used it in.

  • Overall Good, but not all stains can be removed.

The rug Doctor does a good job in pulling dirt out of the carpet. Stains on the other hand would depend on what type of stain it is. Simple Coke/Coffee take several passes. Other stronger stains will require lists of pretreatment, and may not totally get it out. The tool attachment is ok, attaching it take a little effort, but it is limited in what it can do.

Pros Sturdy, adding soap feature Cons small water tank, dirty water tank takes time to clean

Our carpet looked clean and smelled great after using the Rug Doctor. The water extractor worked so well there was very little moisture left in the carpet when finished.

Possibly the best home residential rug cleaner ever! Sets up easily. Sturdy. Nice long electrical cord. Stows away nicely and powerful enough to suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

Pros Easy to Empty Filter, Easy to Use, Nice Design, Performs Well, Strong Suction, Sturdy, carpet stays cleaner longer

Minimal assembly. User friendly. Operates best by rolling it into position and pulling it backward to clean. Too much suction to push forward. Am impressed with suction. Rugs were clean and dry after a few hours. Scrub brush needs separate control. Dandy machine for price. Would buy again.

virtually ready to go out of the box, simple to use, and does a great job. rental cost is usually about $35 for the same unit and doesnt include the soap either. with the great price this will pay for itself in about 7 cleaning and without the hassle of weather there is one available and then having to go get it. if you have carpets do yourself a favor and buy one!

Pros Easy to Use, Sturdy, Performs Well, Looks Great, Strong Suction, Great Value, Lots of Features, Nice Design Cons cord gets in the way of cleaning but then they all

Worked great the first time I used it, but it wouldn't spray water when I tried it a week later. The clean water tank just stayed full. The tank valve seemed to be working fine. I looked around a bit on YouTube and the Rug Doctor site and then gave up and returned it.

The box was ripped so I thought the cleaner was damaged. It was fine. Works great very happy. It sucks up almost all the water and carpets are dry in a couple hrs. Did a great job on old stains that my old shampooer could not get out.

Pros Easy to Use, Sturdy, Strong Suction, Nice Design Cons none
