We got this product to refinish our kitchen cabinets. It worked great. We lightly sanded the cabinets and applied two coats of the chalk paint. The coverage was great. You will need to cover with polyurethane or similar protectant as the chalk paint can be scratched easily without it. We used a water based matte polyurethane and it looks awesome.
I decided to try this product on my dining set and it turned out beautifully. Very easy to apply, no sanding needed. Drys fast and coat well. My only negative would be when I tried the add the top coat it dried a yellowish color on the table top,, so I had to add a 3rd coat. I would caution using the top coat on certain types of wood. It was fine on the hutch and chairs, but not the table top. Overall very happy with this product.
We bought this chalk paint to repurpose my parents furniture and we absolutely loved it! The quality of the paint is great and it provides very good coverage, one coat to get a distressed look and two coats will give you a finished, polished look. I only wish Home Depot carried more colors in stock. Overall, we're very pleased and would highly recommend this paint!
I've been hearing a lot of great things about chalked paint, so I thought I'd use it on a small project I was doing for my laundry room. I had a bunch of knobs that I wanted to turn into a hanging rack. I thought the wood would look nice in this serenity blue. It does! I used two coats because the first coat was streaky. The second coat looked great and then the clear coat made for a beautiful and easy project. I will say that I think the streaking was due to my using a natural bristle brush when they suggest a synthetic bristle. But the paint did go on easily, dried quickly, and left a nice finish.
Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Apply, Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Good Coverage, High Quality of Material, Looks Great, Very Adhesive
Genuinely a one-coat product, but painting outside at 95 degrees and a ceiling fan going made it dry too fast, so I sanded it smooth and put a second coat on, fan off. Instructions say to add water to slow dry time--I probably should have simply painted it at night, but it was a chair for my kids, and they were eager to paint.
The finish is fantastic. I don't know how it will hold up to constant handling, but as easy as it is to apply, and as quickly as it dries, who cares?!?! Just cover bad spots. Sanding it with 400 grit paper made it look and feel amazing! I may give it a month or two, then sand it a bit to get rid of spots instead of recoating.
Great paint, easy application, great adhesion (so far), and no need for waxing or varnishing. This is the look without the work. Chalked paint is supposed to be easy, and finally with this paint, that is true. Avoid the real stuff that takes tons of fussy steps after painting.
My wife has asked me to paint her childhood rocking chair after seeing how nicely this chair turned out, and it was painted by our kids. That is a huge vote for this product!
Pros: Dries Quickly, Easy to Apply, Easy to Use, Even Application, Good Coverage, Looks Great
I just completed a project using this paint. I love it! The color is so soft and looks great. I've heard reviews about bad applications, but I will say you have to be patient and use even strokes with a good brush. It says I didn't have to sand the piece, but I did do a quick power sand and then I sprayed the piece with rust oleum French white matte furniture spray before I painted. The piece was so dark that I didn't want to deal with dark lines after the first application. Once completely dry I touched up areas that needed it. Looking to see what I can paint next!!
