Too shinny...and DEFINITELY NOT black
The finish is a bit too shinny for a matte ....and the color is definitely greenish...( Yes , I shook the can well...yes I used black primer..Quite experienced on spray painting)...and the sprayer is awful. Bought this based on Rust Oleum previous experiences...but this was a bust.

even finish but not really black
maybe I should have read the reviews but it does have a green tint to it. I sprayed a black primer underneath, let that dry for 8 hours, then sprayed this "matte black." I was expecting a super black turnout but there is a green tint to it. I'll be starting my project over with something else...

Oh no, we can help, Tony! Please keep in mind that the appearance of Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray can be affected by the surface condition and the number of coats applied. It is also essential to thoroughly shake the can before use and during application to ensure an even finish. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

NOT MATTE, very glossy. bumpy truck bed liner like finish.
Shaken over a minute before hand and every 30 seconds while painting, used two cans and it still went on super blotchy. Used over top of Rust-Oleum clean metal primer. Looks awful. Waste of money.

Something is amiss here! Our Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Black Spray should apply in a smooth, even, and matte finish, and this is very unusual to hear. Please give us a call at 800-481-4785, we want to learn more and try to make things right! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

NOT matte black
Super glossy, absolute garbage. Will return for flat black.
Response from Rust-OleumSupportSep 9, 2020
Yikes, something is amiss here! To ensure the proper sheen with Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray Paint, it is essential that the can is shaken for a full minute before each use and shaken often during your application. This will ensure the flattening agents are evenly distributed throughout the application and provide a consistent finish. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

This was just the color and finish I was hoping for! It nailed it for my project! I will be purchasing again for my dinning table and chairs.

I purchased this to touch up minor scratchs on my stain black wheel and it dries to a dark grayish green color. Clearly not black. I shook the car for 5 mins and applied to light coats. Do not buy this if you want satin black color.
Response from Rust-OleumSupportFeb 27, 2019
Let's talk through this! It is important to shake Rust-Oleum Automotive Matte Finish Spray Paint thoroughly before use and often during your application. Two or more light coats should be applied a few minutes apart while keeping the can 10-16” from the surface. Depending on the surface being covered, more coats may need to be applied. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Perfect match for black ABS auto parts.
I wanted to ditch the chrome and paint my grill which sits above the factory black ABS bumper cover on my truck. It's a perfect match. better than just the color match, it went on evenly and smooth. I let it cure for several days and it set up rock solid. I accidentally hit it with my buffer that had rubbing compund loaded on it and it did nothing to this paint.
it's not a true deep black, but matches ABS parts like a champ.
