Our Rust-Oleum Automotive Rubberized Undercoating remains soft and rubbery to the touch; it will not cure hard. Thicker applications will remain softer for a longer period of time, slowing the cure. You can paint over the Undercoating once it has cured for a minimum of 24 hours. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Inside each can of Rust-Oleum Automotive Rubberized Undercoating Spray is a dip tube that pulls the paint from the bottom of the can to the tip. If the pigment in the paint is too big or if there's not enough pressure behind it, it can get stuck in the tube or tip and the paint won't spray. Shaking the can for a full minute before each use and shaking often during application is the best way to prevent clogging. Try turning the can upside down and spraying for a few seconds. If the clog is in the tip, soaking it in mineral spirits should clear it out.
