Looks Great and decent coverage.... just one small gripe. We put this down in January 2019. The prep definitely took some work but the epoxyshield itself went on smooth and coverage was about what they stated. It looks Great and is definitely much easier to clean up spills and leaks than straight concrete ever was. My only gripe is that after about 3-4 weeks spots have started coming up underneath the tires (where they are when parked). We followed the directions and actually went out of town right after we put it down so it had about 5 days to dry/cure before we parked any cars on it. My concern is if it is already coming up now what will it do this summer. We live in Houston, TX so Dec. - April is about as mild as it gets so what is it going to do when we hit triple digits in the summer. Other than those spots under the tires I love the look and functionality of it and would have given it 5 stars.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Peeling with Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating can happen due to either surface contamination or a very thin layer of weakened concrete (called 'laitance') on the surface. Laitance originates from the pour/application of the concrete itself, but this weakened layer can also happen from exposure to traffic or chemicals over time (including road salts). We want to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Please feel free to call us at 888-683-5667 to talk about this more and make sure to have the product handy! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

In summary: Great product. Easy to make the garage look great. Long version: I always wanted to do this, but the hardest part is having an empty garage. We just moved into a new place and this was my chance. I forbid the wife to put anything in the garage until this was done. 0. Prep: none needed. New garage so no stains or cracks. 1. Cleaning: Easy...sweep, sweep, wash, dry, acid wash, dry overnight. 2. Applying: This "kit" is basically 2 kits combined. There are two bags of everything, including the epoxy. I read some reviews that said the colors vary, so I followed the instructions to mix the epoxy in the bags separately. Once a few minutes had passed, I disregarded the instructions and opened both bags and mixed them together in a 5 gal bucket. Application was easy as rolling paint on a floor. Whole garage in 45 minutes including the edges. Paint chips: they include a lot of chips. We nearly used all of it because the wife went nuts throwing the chips everywhere. But it looks great. Drying: Hardest part is not using the garage for a few days. Also, I used some bricks to stop the garage door from resting on the painted surface.

Absolutely amazing product! I used it on my basement floor and it turned out great. As we painted about a 4' x 4' section, we sprinkled the colored flecks onto the wet paint. So fun!! My old floor was black in color (from adhesive from the old linoleum tile) and this stuff covered it in one coat with no bleed-through. We also used the non-skid additive (sold separately) which gave us a non-slippery finish with only a slight sheen. The way this product comes packaged (in a large foil pouch) makes mixing a breeze. Very low odor and clean-up with warm water. I can't rave about this product enough!!

The kit contained everything needed to get the job done (minus the rollers and brush). It mixed together well and was easy to pour into the roller pan. The fluid was thin enough to push around with the roller easily. Our ambient temperature was 70-80. Working in 4x4/6x6 sections was good. The fluid starts to get viscous quickly so working in smaller sections is a good idea. - Do as much prep work as you can. Power-washing the etch off is a good idea. - Divide your "sprinkles" so that you distribute them evenly. - "Blue tape" your walls for a cleaner edge that is easier to paint. Problem: it appears the fluid can seep up into wallboard and loosen the glue holding the wallboard paper to the gypsum. This causes the (painted) paper to pull away from the wallboard if the blue tape is not carefully removed. If you are careful, the paper won't tear off. Not sure how to fasten the paper down again (glue?). - You can feather the edges to minimize transitions. The 2 bags were very close in color. - Watch the ridges caused by the roller. The fluid does not level out very well. The ridges are not very obvious. - Only cut a corner from the fluid bag to control the flow into the roller pan. It's easy to slop over. - Watch where you are stepping. Fluid on the bottom of your shoes is strong enough to drag around a couple paper towels. Hopefully the product is as good long term as it was easy to apply.

This paint was great! Easy mixing in the bag. Spreads very well and the floor looks great. Just make sure to pay attention to the cleaning and prepping.Fill any cracks or pits on the concrete with crack filler.and tape the outside edges for a clean line. The paint went on and spread very well.Looked great when finished.I didn't use the colored flecks on my floor wanted it not so "poppin"!

It worked great. My garage floor looks incredible. I did it on new concrete so I waited for a month before doing it. New concrete takes 28 days to cure. I did go a little overboard on the sprinkles so I had to run back to HD to buy another bag of them. So you may want to get an extra bag if you are going to over do it like I did.

I am very pleased with the outcome of this process. My garage floor is 50 years old and I live in Wisconsin. This is to let you know that the floor was warn severely by time, weather and road salt. There were severe spots of pitting where the cars tires rest as well as areas of oil residue. Also there were some long and deep cracks. If you have an older floor like mine, this will more than likely take at least a full week to finish. I washed and rinsed he entire floor twice. I then rewashed and rinsed the areas that indicated there was oil residue 5 times. Then the floor as to be completely dry to apply the patching compound. If you have high humidity like here, this takes time. To help, I used fans to keep the air moving. Patching takes another minimum day to apply and allow to dry and cure. Possibly more if you need to apply addition layers of patching. Once dry, etching takes at least another day to dry. I waited 2 days since humidity was 70-80%. Finally, you apply the coating. It is easy to do. Total time for me as about an hour. If you've painted a wall in your home, you can do this. Once done applying of course you have to let it cure for 3 days. I am not giving 5 stars for a couple of reasons. First is the etching solution eats away the patching compound. As stated I had large areas of repair needed prior to applying the coating. I found that the areas where I tried to feather the patch to minimize the lines were eaten away by the etching solution. Also, the directions only say to thoroughly rinse after etching to be sure it's all removed. There is no indication of how to determine if the solution is rinsed away. The second season has to do with weather conditions needed to do this process. In a typical WI summer, there are about 3 days that fall within that window. I can't imagine there are any days if you live in the Southeast. It would seem they could formulate the product for a broader set of conditions after all these years. Going into this, I knew I wouldn't get a showroom type floor. You can see the patching and cracks but I expected that. It's an old floor. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Now we see how long it holds up.

As a avidly proclaimed DIY-her, I've use their products before but I must say this was the easiest to use. I followed the instructions as suggested and watched videos before starting and it turned out beautiful. What I liked best was how easy it was to mix the product and apply it. My son who has never used an epoxy was impressed with how easy it was to do. It's three week later and it looks amazing. If I had another garage I would do it all again!

I found the instructions annoyingly ambiguous, e.g. there is a "Repeat twice" paragraph which is not clear whether it refers to both etching and cleaning or just just the cleaning, or "Mix all concrete etch with 2 gallons of water" - there are two etch bags in the kit, but after calling RustOleum I learned that "all" refers to one bag, not both -, and the paragraph about mixing all B containers if multiple kits are bought is also unclear because it left me guessing whether this 2.5 garage kit with everything in it twice is considered one or several kits. Also the three application time boxes are ambiguous because they're grouped by temperature range but make recommendations on the time of the day without specifying what the impact of those recommendations is on the temperature. On the plus side, the coating works very well despite the surprisingly thin coat - I ended up using only half of the 2.5 car garage kit (with added anti-skid powder) for a 2 car garage of roughly 340 sqft. (that said, temps were in the high 80s so I guess it may have thinned the material). I think including some sort of sprinkler container for the decorative flakes would be nice to make it easier to evenly distribute them. The end result doesn't look nearly as glossy as on the picture of the box, but perhaps that's caused by the anti-skid addition which I think is really necessary when wet shoes bring moisture into the garage and will make things slippery otherwise. The phone support if there are any questions has a call-back feature and is excellent; I used it twice. If the coating breaks up down the road I'll be sure to update this review, but so far everything looks very good.

We understand your frustration, Sammy! The optimal temperatures for Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor coatings are 60-85 degrees, it should not be applied or mixed in direct sunlight as this may cause the material to harden quickly. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

Always had faith in the Rust-Oleum name, but no more. Prepped the garage floor and mixed the epoxy as directed last summer. Floor looked pretty good. I went to clean it this spring, and I noticed that there were several spots where the coating had peeled. Living in MN, this was probably from road salt. However, one of the reasons I purchased this product was that their advertising said, "Waterproofing sealer - resists chemicals and hot tire." That statement should probably be removed from the packaging and all ads. In addition, there are a couple of small spots where I can see hot tire pickup. Finally, there are several spots where you can notice nearly every roller mark that it took to coat an area. I am attaching photos, hopefully they are clear enough to see the damage. Wouldn't you know that the peeling occurred in the corners of the "concrete squares," so I will have to recoat the entire garage floor. I guess my only recourse is to buy more product, spend a couple of days sanding the current coating, and then put down a second coat. However, I have little faith that this will last more than one winter either.

Let me start by saying this is my first review of any product. After an extensive research I chose this product. I loved everything about. I bought 2.5 car kit it wasn't enough... I expected that because I painted side walls and laid an extra heavy coat. Turned out perfect! On half the garage. The problem was when I went and bought the additional paint 1 car kit-- ugh... Different color grey! Had I known I would have had a different plan--The 2.5 car kit paint was much thicker and it went on nicely. The 1 car kit the paint was much more water down. The sparkles are a great added touch-- and you have plenty---Overall love the product-- Not sure how to handle the different greys! Any suggestions?

I purchased this product to finish the floor in the small shop I had built over the winter. The shop is just about 300 square feet. For prep I power washed the floor and then ran shop vac. Then etched the floor... power washed and then ran shop vac 4 more times. Was allowed to sit and dry for 5 day with air conditioner on. Then upon entering wore nothing but new socks and vacuumed again before painting... The paint went on easily and spread easily and had extra person doing the trim and me rolling... heres the prob... mixed the two parts together and I mixed and shook as much as I possible could for the time stated. One of the parts must have had lots of solid material in it and wouldn't mix... upon applying noticed it but at this point what do u do? well after it dried all the solid chunks where now soft spots so when rolling the clear it pulled then off... there is pieces of the painted epoxy everywhere ..... every few inches sometimes more... Did two coats of clear hoping it would help hide. All the hard work I put in building cabinets and the shop was messed up by crappy paint. It looks good from a distance but that is all. If u care about ur project I would recommend looking at a different product... The clear did seem to go on ok and mixed smooth but it is really had to say with such a bad base. Sorry to say I wont be recommended this product to anyone I know and will be happy to show anyone why

That is odd! The Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating Kit should be applied at above 60° F and below 90° F. Ideally, we recommend the ambient and slab temperatures be above 60° F and below 90° F for the day before, the day of and the day after application. This will ensure the chemical reaction of the 2-part epoxy will take place allowing for proper drying and curing of the EpoxyShield. Any applications done outside of these temperature recommendations may result in improper drying and curing of the epoxy, or cause poor adhesion to the concrete. We want to hear more about your experience and try to make things right with you. Please feel free to call us at 888-683-5667 to talk about this more and make sure to have the product handy! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

After 3 long days of prep work, the EpoxyShield went on very well and looks great now that it's all done. We spent a day cleaning out the garage, a day of soap wash, a day of acid wash, then a day to apply. I got the 2.5 car kit and it easily covered my 3 car garage (I could have applied it a bit heavier as I had 25% of the solution remaining). I was also stingy on the color flakes - they give you plenty in the kit so feel free to apply generously. After 3 days cure time, I moved everything back in and started to park in the garage again. All in, the project took approx. 12 hours over 4 days but almost all of this time was move-out/in of my stuff and cleaning the floor for application. Time will tell how long it all lasts, but so far I really like the new garage floor.

Etching the floor is easy with a pump sprayer, cleaning it up takes at least 3-4 times of squeegee and mop. mixing bag within a bag thoroughly takes probably 4-5 minutes. Next time (basement floor) I might just squirt them into a bucket and mix by hand. A big deep roller pan is needed, its like spreading around cold syrup. roll over each pass several times to ensure equal coverage, it also helps ensure catalyst is mixed thoroughly. This took two days to cure fully, still tacky after 17 hours. Looks good, so far holding up to traffic. Shine varies across the floor, clear coat will go on later so no big deal. Does not cover anywhere near the maximum amount, 320 sq ft is pretty much the maximum coverage.

It covered very nicely, but was surprised that the two bags were not too close on color shades. I was painting both sides, so I painted 1/2 let it dry and painted the other side. To my surprise the shades are not perfect. It looks OK, but have used in the past it matched much closer.
