Beware of hairs!
Got this as a temporary fix to cover old vinyl bathroom floors. Happy with the color, vanilla milkshake, and easy application. Time will tell if it holds up. The biggest pain is all the stray hairs that drop onto the floor out of nowhere when applying the top coat! I took every precaution with deep cleaning the entire bathroom and pinned my hair back but had to constantly wipe up stray hairs throughout the top coat application, annoying.

    It doesn’t last
The color I chosen ( Kona ) it’s beautiful, That being said, that’s all I see on this because the product didn’t last on my floors, Scratches, and the finish on some areas don’t look the same, it looks patchy and milky looking. My finish was matte. Honestly, I think it was just a waste of money.

I think this is a good product overall, but the instructions are not accurate in terms of number of coats. It says they recommend one coat for tinted and two coats for white, I needed at least three coats of white and for using the color needed two with additional touch up. If you were considered designs like checkerboard or stenciling, I would say plan to spend a ton of time or if you want it to be perfect just do a solid color. Overall, I feel good about my results as a temporary move for replacing my bathroom floor in a few years. I think this will hold up okay too.

      Overall satisfied
If you are ballin' on a budget/have ugly floors, this is a product for you. 1st I cleaned our tile with Krud Kutter, mopped with bleach/dish soap and let the floors dry. You want to make sure there are ZERO crumbs, hair, fuzz, lint, etc. on the floor before each coat of paint or you're going to have junk stuck in the paint. I used Steam Gray (cold super light gray) as the base coat (2 coats) and stenciled on Coastal Fog (warm light-medium gray) then finished with the top coat in matte finish.

        Ruins Mexican Tile Floors
Do not paint your Mexican tile floors with white Rust-Oleum floor Base coating it is meant to be permanent and extremely difficult to remove and restore your terracotta Mexican tile floor to it's original terracotta beauty. This Rust-Oleum HOME® Base Coat White Paint product will potentially ruin your Mexican tile floor.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experinece, Bill. The Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System is not intended to be a temporary coating and is intended to last for years to come. With any coating, it can be removed by either sanding/scraping or by using a paint stripper. With any removal method, a test application is always recommended to ensure favorable results.

          Looks amazing!
I bought this to cover up blue tile in my kids bathroom. I didn’t have high expectations from some of the reviews I’ve seen. I ordered the matte black color and I absolutely love it! I did have to apply 2 coats to cover the blue entirely. It doesn’t have a strong order at all and did not leave any brush strokes.

              Do not buy
Worse product ever, waist of $36 dollars and now I will have to replace my floor. I bought this product to add shine to a vinyl floor. I did exactly as the direction said primed it and cleaned it make sure there was no residue on the floor. As I applied it, I let it dry, and when I went to look at it I could easily tell it was not sticking. The product easily pilled up, did not stick at all. As it pulled up it also pulled up the top of the vinyl. Simply a mess.

                Horrible Coverage
Surface was cleaned and primed prior to application. Used the recommended roller and 3/8 nap roller. The coverage is spotty, streaky, and awful. It will absolutely need two coats and we will have to purchase another can. It states that two coats aren’t recommended. I wish we had just used regular paint for the stairs! It is thick and goopy, but applies watery and streaky. Very unhappy. We are not novice painters, and have painted just about every other surface on the house with no issue.

Very good coverage and easy to apply. Used approximately 1.5 qt per 15x15 room, so make sure you get more than you think you’ll need based on label. Top coat applies easily also and makes the floor beautiful! I have semi gloss on mine. Top coat is CRITICAL and needs to be applied asap! Floor paint dries to a very “sticky” finish and once top coat dries it feels hard and smooth. Amazed how great the floors turned out. (They had been previously painted, so I cleaned by sweeping/vacuuming and followed with damp mopping with a “crud cutting” solution to remove remaining dirt and grime. Highly recommend this product. Happy I didn’t have to sand or prime before painting!!!

                  Tint to any color!!
I had tinted this to the dark grey that was recommended on the box… it was too light and blue-ish. There’s a cohesive color theme in my downstairs … and this color floor threw everything off. I bought a second box and tinted it “Trail Print”. At first I was told I could only use the recommended colors on the box. It took a few extra minutes to color match the HD swatch… I love it!!! The texture in the vinyl floor is visible. Shower was done in the tub and tile refinish product.

I love the simplicity of the product. I needed something quick to put down in three bedrooms we had after pulling carpet so we could get moved in pretty quickly this was the answer. If you plan to use this just make sure any glue on floor is completely up or it will pull through once the semi-gloss is painted on which was weird it did not do it with the base coat alone. Overall I'm very pleased with the turn out, should be said I was not looking for perfection and this was my first time using the product. Only complaint is quantity it took 2 kits per room and that was spreading pretty thin still. Just needs to be sold in bigger cans.

                    Not waterproof!
Bought this coating for basement laundry room. Followed the instructions to a T, including 24hr drying time after applying the topcoat. Yesterday discovered that a small water leak led to blistering along the entire path.

Let's talk about this, Dave! While the Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System is water-resistant, it is not considered a waterproof coating. Prolonged exposure to water on the surface will cause it to blister and peel. Any moisture issues on the floor can also cause blistering if it seeps up under the coating.

Plan to spend twice as much as what it shows
First off, home depot will give you an estimated arrival of 5 days but you won't receive it for 2 weeks. 1qt will not cover what it says it will, plan to double your order for stated sqft. I pt 2 coats on the floor and there old floor color still shows through.

                      Change Maker
I wanted to do something about our linoleum floor in both of our bathrooms for years now. I wanted a cheap and quick alternative. I saw this product on Pinterest. What a game changer! It has completely changed our bathrooms. It brought them into this decade. I went with the Icy Gray base coat and the semi-gloss top coat. It came out so beautiful. I got fancy and decided to purchase and extra quart of ultra white for my stencil design. Follow the instructions and you won't be disappointed.

                        Made a huge difference
We used this on our master bath floor. The tile and grout were dingy looking, and we needed a solution that didn't involve completely re-doing the floors. Prepping the floors took the longest, but wasn't difficult. The paint went on a little streaky at first, but evened out as it dried. Choosing a color was difficult. It seems to be slightly lighter than what the sample looked like. I used Gray Owl. If I ever do it again I'd probably go slightly darker, but overall I like the results!

                          Turned cloudy after moisture
I used this on my basement floor, which was cement and covered with patio paint. I had 3 coats of paint and then 2 coats of this floor coating. I followed the directions and let the first coat dry for 2-3 hours and applied the second coat. For the first couple of days, it looked amazing. Then we had some rain and now there are cloudy patchy spots on the floor...assuming from the moisture coming thru the cement? Very disappointed as I read many reviews and followed the directions.

Thank you for reaching out, Kevin. If the floor had moisture issues prior to application, and it was not remedied, it can cause adhesion issues with the Rust-Oleum Home Floor Coating System. This product is not considered a waterproofing paint and will not seal surfaces. However, if the hazing dissipates after a few days, then the coating may still need time to cure, and once it does then the coating should no longer haze.

10/10 recommend. I painted a white tile floor black. After 10 months, I have zero chips or blemishes. With that being said, we do not have any kids or pets and we do not wear shoes in the house 90% of the time. When the first step goes on, you feel like there might be some streaking but it levels out after the second step.

I have all the windows open, even my garage window. I turned the fan on! The sealant is Behr Wet look water based sealer. I've been paying for it every since I started using these products. I don't recommend this stripper. HOW CAN I GET RiD OF THE SMELL?The substance dried in some areas & became slippery. I hit the floor like I was doing a dance move!

                                Hesitant
We were excited about tile paint since our bathroom floors have horrible white tile that show everything especially black dog fur. The first 3 months were great then we noticed the paint flaking off and can’t clean the floor well. You can see this black spot of dirt. I’ve tired cleaning with just warm water and a mop and it started pulling off the paint. Can’t vacuum because that has left scratches in the paint. We followed the directions and hesitant to paint second bathroom.

                                  pleasantly surprising!
While painting a floor does feel like you're committing a war crime, it turned out pretty great. Eventually will do a full reno, but this bought us some time and looks less hideous than the existing floor. Recommend using high quality rollers to avoid getting shed bits in your floor, and if you have to step on the painted floor to do the top coat use shoe covers or clean white socks to avoid marks and tracking in dirt/dust/fur.

I was wanting to redo a tile floor because it was many tiles were badly cracked. I did research and decided to use this system. First I repaired all the cracked and divots in the tile by using a tile grout caulk. Then I used Kris Kutter to clean the floor. Base coat the. Stencil then top coat three times. Beautiful now.
