Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tested Rocksolid Metallic Floor Coating - Gunmetal, 70 Oz. Kit, on the floor of my garage, and I really liked the result, the floor has a lovely shine, as if it were a mirror in which you can reflect yourself! It is really easy to apply, it comes with a roller that makes it easy, you just have to have the stick to extend the roller. It dries quickly but gives you enough time to spread the product without much problem. You must be absolutely sure that the floor where you are going to apply it is very, very clean, because any dirt will stick to it, but don't worry, it comes with citric acid to help you with that! On the other hand the smell of Rocksolid Metallic Floor Coating - Gunmetal, is somewhat strong, however it is not so strong that you can't stand it while it is applied, and the best thing is that after a few hours you can no longer feel it. The only thing is that you must be very careful with the temperature of the floor because if it is very cold the product should not be applied, unfortunately when I received my product it was in the middle of winter and I waited until I had the opportunity that the temperature was not below the temperature recommended by the manufacturer, so as soon as I had the minimum recommended temperature, my husband applied it. However, there were some small bubbles that we assumed that it was because the temperature was still very cold, because they formed more in the part of the garage farthest from sunlight... Despite that the floor looks great and I love it, my son has already played on the floor with his skateboard and nothing has happened to him!

Surprised at how good it came out!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've been talking about painting/sealing out garage floor for a couple years now so when we saw this Rocksolid Metallic Floor Coating - Gunmetal, 70 Oz. Kit, we decided to finally do it! Very simple to use - everything comes right in the box. I would say the key to a beautiful, smooth look is to prep your garage floor well - don't skimp on this. Vacuum, wash and use the prep cleaner first. We also filled in a few cracks with cement in a tube. Let everything DRY and then proceed. The actual mixing and application of this floor coating is very simple. Just knead the package, pop the middle divider (by rolling the bag like a tube of toothpaste and make sure it's blended. Pour it on the floor in sections and smooth out and then make circular patterns with the roller to get a nice marbleized design in the floor. My wife used a brush and did around the edges and I did the rest. Our 2 car garage took about an hour to do. Two suggestions: work in small 5x5 sections and keep going in the same direction and get more than they say you'll need I didn't get as much coverage from each box and had to run out mid job to grab 2 more boxes.

      Not worth it
I did it over my work vacation, so I took plenty of time to follow the instructions and do it exactly as instructed. The floor looked great for about 2 months then peeled. Not worth the time or $$. I regret my purchase.

We bought this product to do a 3.5 car garage Oct 2020. Followed the directions and install was okay, some of the metallic clumped in the bag and were hard to break apart, almost solid. It left some bumps of it imbedded in floor. Even with the bumps I was very happy with the color and look. Then any water or anything that has gotten on it clouded it and it turned whitish. I feel like I wasted $2000 plus the labor and now my floor looks horrible. Cannot even clean the floor with plain water.

Went out of my way to do everything as far as prepping the floor, gave the floor 3 weeks to make sure it was completely dry before painting. applying the epoxy was difficult with the roller that came with the kit when it came to doing the swirls it kept coming off the arm of the roller. Waited another three weeks before pulling my car on it. Parked the car on it after a rainy day and now have white spots everywhere it dripped which will not come off.

                Not a bargain
Too good to be true. Yes I had wishful thinking. Hoping I could save time and not tile my basement floor. I am far from a do it yourselfer. This product is temperamental. Used three batches Followed the instructions mixed it approximately poured it out following the instructions, it was very thin and didn’t cover well. If you have anything besides clean new concrete don’t use this product or expect to double up the coverage rate. It way too expensive for a low quality product. I will have to apply a second coat to try to get adequate coverage. P.s. Rock solid keep your corporate lackeys comments to your self no I don’t want to tell you about my experience and let’s try to make it right. Stop selling cheap products!

Thanks for reaching out VJ. Rust-Oleum RockSolid Polycuramine Metallic Floor Coating contains pearlescent and iridescent accents that produce marbleized gleaming finishes. When mixing the easy burst pouch, be sure to thoroughly mix the material by shaking the pouch back and forth and squeezing the edges and corners for 2-3 minutes, this will ensure consistent color throughout the application. To achieve the proper metallic finish use the roller to put circular patterns in the coating, like applying was to a car. This will ensure there are no bare spots and give the coating an opaque appearance once dry. Give us a call at 888-683-5667 so we can hear more about your application and work to make things right.

This is the only product I have used from Rust-Oleum that is poor quality. I followed the directions exactly and even watched 10-15 YouTube videos also. Some of the videos concerned me because of their results, but I had already spent $285 on the product so I thought if I followed the directions precisely I would end up with good results. I cannot explain how frustrated I am with this product - it was supposed to be a brilliant blue, but it is mostly transparent and the entire concrete floor is visible through the product. I think what is equally frustrating is that I put nearly 12 hours in on the first day prepping the surface for application the following day. Based on my experience with this product, I would feel terrible if I recommended it and someone else put the amount of work I did and received the same results.

I had to use 8 boxes to cover my 450 SF basement. It is transluscent in color, so you see everything underneath. Does not give a good color and did not cover minor imperfections well. I wish I had painted it blue first then used clear overtop. Would have been cheaper and looked waaay better. Super disappointed.

That is not what we like to hear, Ashley! Each of our RockSolid Metallic Garage Floor Kits are designed to cover 100-125 ft² when applied to a smooth, interior concrete floor. Surface imperfections, as well as rough or patched concrete may reduce this coverage. Based on the square footage provided, twice as much coating was applied to the surface, which should not be necessary for proper coverage. We need to know more about the surface and application to get to the bottom of this. We used this to paint a concrete basement floor. It doesn't cover nearly as well as we expected - you can see all of the places we patched, and we used twice as much as recommended. To make it opaque you would need 3-4 times the amount the kit says. We painted two roughly 10x11 rooms with 2 kits. As others said, the material is very hard to move around - very thick and gooey, not like paint. Also I would not call the color "copper pot" - it looks more like ketchup (or blood) on the floor. It does look nice and shiny and I'm sure will work for being an impervious surface, making it easier to clean up spills etc., but it certainly didn't live up to the expectations the marketing leads you to believe.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Each Rust-Oleum RockSolid Metallic Garage Floor Kit has a recommended coverage of 100-125 square feet when applied at the recommend mil thickness. Please keep in mind that to achieve the best metallic effect, it is essential to use the roller to put circular patterns in the coatings, similar to applying wax to a car, to ensure there are no bare spots.

Very disappointed. There's a lot of things that you don't know about in the time investment that they say... it's about three times that. You get very very much deep into this product and it does not take nearly the small amount of prep time they recommend. And then when you get into the product itself, it does not go the distance they say it does but then you kind of get put into a corner because you've already spent all this money and started putting it down just to realize you're going to run out of product. Very very very unsatisfied. We had less than 900 square feet so that means eight boxes we bought 9. Photo shows how much 9 boxes covered! I would say if you're looking for a parts of this caliber, hire somebody! Then you have somebody else to fall back on when it doesn't go right.

Thank you for sharing your experience using our RockSolid Metallic Floor Kit, Chris. Interior concrete is usually a floated or smooth finish concrete, and this is the type of surface that our coverage estimations are based on. Rough or broom-swept concrete, or concrete that is in poor condition will decrease the coverage. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

The instructions state that the cure time of the epoxy is about 90 minutes at 80 degrees. In the 100 degree Texas weather even in the shade - cure time is MUCH less - about 20 minutes - my first bucket turned into a smoldering smoking bucket of goop. The 2nd bucket was much better - lesson learned - work quickly - watch the videos - the end result looks good - see photo - but it took three units - $350 to complete the Garage Floor. For best results, Cool temperatures, Etch the floor well and work quickly - this is the third Garage Floor that I have finished the floors on - this is my favorite product - but next time I will wait until it is cooler.

We think we know what's happened regarding your application of Rust-Oleum RockSolid Garage Floor Coating. Color variances are caused by either the porosity of the concrete or the proper mixing of the product. Temperatures and humidity can also play a role in the color variance of the finished product. If a 2nd coat is desired, you'll want to wait until the coating has dried for a minimum of 12 hrs. You have up to 7 days to apply the product without sanding. If you exceed 7 days, we recommend sanding with a 60/80 grit sandpaper and washing down the surface with an appropriate degreaser before reapplying. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1 Rustoleum

In most painting, preparation is more work than the actual application of the paint. That goes in spades for this product. First you must clean the floor thoroughly, including sanding and scraping any existing paint that might not be firmly adhered, then degrease the floor and finally acid etch it. These last two require a lot of rinse water and a squeegee. The floor of my shop had accumulated 20 years of oil leaks from old cars, paint spills, and blood from deer carcasses hung prior to butchering and freezing, so there was a lot of preparation to be done (the blood caused the most damage to the concrete). A newer concrete floor would be much easier. The paint comes as a resin and a catalyst that must be mixed then the pigment mixed in and the paint used promptly. I found that by mixing one kit and painting the recommended 100 to 125 square feet at a time, I could apply all the mixed paint well before it began to set up. The paint cured to a hard glossy surface, but with some small bubbles. In spite of taking extra pains to mix the pigment in thoroughly, the finished surface showed streaks and swirls. That may be more related to the effect of the roller than the mixing of the paint, since some of the streaks seemed to show up where the edge of the roller tracked. I would definitely choose a lighter, brighter color if I could do this again, as there is only one window in the shop and this color paint comes out very dark. Also, in thinking about the way I use this shop, I may decide to leave part of the floor unpainted because I expect that sparks from the welder or rolling the hard steel wheels of the creeper or some other tools (engine hoist, engine stand) would likely mar the paint. This type of surface is probably more appropriate for simply parking or displaying cars or other uses that don't involve hot sparks or equipment with hard steel wheels, but it does make a nice looking surface that will be much easier to clean than bare concrete, and would probably be very durable.

We received this kit and had to wait a couple of months for the weather but it got warm enough so we decreased the garage floor, then we etched it and then 24 hours later we applied the floor coating. It took about 5 hours to apply and was ok to apply. It turns out to be a little slick when wet so we are going to put a top coat on with abrasive in it and that should help. It is very beautiful.

The end result looks great and I expect the garage floor finish to last well beyond me. The effort, time and elbow grease to finish this project is substantial and directly impacts the quality of the finished floor. The floor prep is the critical step and will determine success or failure. If I were to do this again, I would rent a floor sander to get the floor as smooth and blemish free as possible. You must follow the instructions by first cleaning with a degreaser, followed by thoroughly rinsing (I used a pressure washer), then an etching acid wash, a final rinse, drying for at least 24 hours and finally applying the coating. I have a few bubbles in one small area but they are hardly noticeable. I got close to 125 sqft coverage per kit. Notice the color and high-gloss sheen in the pictures. Overall, we’re very pleased with the result and appearance. Recommended.

Metallic Brilliant Blue Garage Floor Kit (Case of 2) Rust-Oleum makes great products and I liked the idea that this coating was 20 times stronger thank epoxy. It is a bit more expensive but should protect for a long time. I got the 70 oz. Metallic Brilliant Blue Garage Floor Kit, comes with 2 of everything, Polycuramine pouches, color, rollers, stir stick, etching powder and instructions. WARNING: It takes a lot of effort to apply this correctly and you really need to read up on the short cuts and tips that are offered. For example, spreading the coating is faster if you use a slotted trowel and finished with the roller. Believe me you really want to use a squeegee or a trowel to spread the coating. I also found out that if you have a broom finished texture on your concrete, you will not get the smooth finish shown in the pictures. That is because of the peaks and valleys created by the broom during finishing of the concrete. See photo. Otherwise it works great on all other finished surfaces. The claim is that it will cover up to 125 sq/ft, that is if you have a smooth finished surface, otherwise you will get about 100 sq/ft. If you have porous or very rough surface, it will be even less. GREAT FEATURES - Virtually VOC and odor free - Self-leveling, buildable - 20X stronger than epoxy, resists chemicals, cracking, peeling and hot-tire pick up - Extreme high-gloss shimmery metallic color provides a showroom-quality floor in just 1 coat - Strongly adheres to concrete for lasting durability - Offers quick return to use: 8-hour to 10-hour walk-on time; vehicle-ready in 24 hours - Clean up with mineral spirits WHERE TO GET HELP: For instructional videos, FAQs and Tips & Techniques RUSTOLEUM.COM/ROCKSOLID Rust-Oleum.com 1-800-765-4474 Rust-Oleum Corporation 1-800-481-4785 Support 1-866-765-4474

I have a 2 car garage and to get the thickness and shine that you want I would tell anyone to get 6 boxes or 3 (2 case kits). I have used this product and the key is to make sure that the area is cool and that you etch the concrete at least 2 times in my opinion. The product will take better. Also if you use a 1/4 inch nap roller it tends to spread better. Try and only apply the product in or 6x6 section. Lastly if you have a garage door try and cover the door with plastic or something as wind will blow dirt in on your floor.

I was excited to try this product. I have used Rustoleum Epoxy Shield before and had good results. This product promised to be better, stronger than epoxy and better looking My plan was to apply to the garage floor, but after some thought I applied it to the Basement floor. After a "lively" discussion about the color we consulted Rustoleum's customer support (which was excellent!) and found out we could easily change the color or use it as a clear top coat. We applied as a clear top coat. I read a lot of reviews and thought I was prepared. The prep work was extensive, clean and etching was a long time consuming process. To speed things along and make it a little easier, i rented a hard floor scrubber from Home Depot, that easily saved 30-50% of the time, compared to doing it manually. I found application to be really difficult. The product is thick and sticky, imagine old wood glue. I used the roller covers included with the kits, and did not have any quality problems with them. It was just really difficult to get the product to spread evenly. After drying, the coverage looking shiny, really shiny, but uneven, really uneven. I had seen recommendation online about using a notched epoxy squeegee and wished I had, because spreading the stuff with a roller was frustrating. It dried quickly, and the coating appears strong. It was advertised as low odor, it was STINKY as it dried. I wouldn't recommend this product, the results are uneven, it's not inexpensive and disappointing.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. For the best results with Rust-Oleum RockSolid Metallic Garage Floor Kit, it is essential to apply the coating in 5x5 sections at a time and use the roller to apply it in a circular motion after pouring it out onto the surface. We also recommend mixing the product thoroughly before use to ensure that the metallic pigment is mixing in properly.

This RockSolid Brilliant Blue Metallic Garage floor epoxy by Rust-Oleum was well worth the effort to apply. Surface prep is the key to a successful result. I used the recommended Rust-Oleum degreaser and a stiff brush to scrub the floor thoroughly before using the wet vac to ensure the floor was thoroughly clean and dry with no residue of any kind before applying the product. I was quite liberal with the product using twice as much as recommended to ensure proper coverage. It really depends on the porosity of the concrete that you are finishing as to what coverage you will get. obviously the more porous the floor the more kits you will need. Application is simple with a brush, roller, bucket, and tape if you want clean edges and easier clean up. An extra hand is also nice as it makes the job go much faster. Overall though the floor has survived for a few months now with no hot tire pickup, cracks, or wear. Much easier to clean than before. A bit slippery when wet though obviously compared to the bare concrete before but aside from cleaning it it is hardly wet. Overall I am satisfied with the product.
