Excellent metal primer
To my great surprise, last week when I got into my metal paint locker I found a can of paint stripper had ate its way through it’s own can and had damaged the locker itself. This metal primer was a easy fix, looking good again.

Absolute garbage. I've used Rustoleum primers before but for some reason this junk just wipes off the painted surface like dust. I wouldn't recommend it for anything except to ruin your project.

Let's see if we can figure this out, Mikey! Please keep in mind that since this is a primer, we do recommend applying a topcoat to Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automotive Primer Spray to ensure full adhesion and durability. If the primer is leaving a dusty residue on the surface, you are most likely experiencing dryspray. This occurs most often when users hold the can too far from the surface when spraying - our recommendation is 10-16" from the surface. Effects of dry spray can also happen when temperatures are too high or too low. You can try using a lint free rag slightly damp, and gently wipe the surface to remove the dusting. If it's still rough after doing that, you'll want to sand the surface with a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper and make sure it's clean and dry before recoating.

I used Rustoleum primer in the restoration of an old book press. After that, I used two Rustoleum Gloss Protective Enamel colors for the finish: black and a new green. I am very please with the way the project turned out. See photos.

I needed a change in the way my car wheels looked so decided to paint them black but I needed to prime them first so I bought a can of primer which did the job wonderfully

The label says that this can be sanded. Not true. It gums up the sandpaper. Un-sandable primer, not good

We may be able to help! In ideal conditions, Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automotive Primer Spray can be dry sand after 4 hours. If heavier coats were applied or the temperatures were cooler, we recommend adding some additional time to ensure the paint skin has formed.

Easy application and looks good, however upon reapplication, despite proper sanding and primer, the paint likes to wrinkle. This happened following the directions on the can. Seems like it can't be re-coated after 48 hours...

Let's see if we can clear things up. While Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Automotive Primer can be recoated after 48 hours, if you sand this will reagitate the paint and essentially restart the recoat window. If the finish has not fully cured for at least 7 days then we do not recommend sanding between coats.

It goes on easy and uniformly. Used on patio furniture, followed by 2 top coats of paint. Just painted, still have to wait and see if it helps with adhesion of the paint and durability of the paint job. Last time the 2 in 1 (primer and paint) did not last.

It does the job secret is to put on light coats and fill in as needed. For me all rustoleum products are good but oil based is a challenge go slow and steady!

the paint is good but the nozzles constantly clog- even after strong agitation. important as it wastes product and makes us have to buy alternatives

The paint was great! However, I also bought what I thought was gloss black from the bin labeled gloss black. And got two cans of grey green that had no indication of color anywhere on the can. When I tried to return them one showed safety recall and the other cans didn’t even scan. I was only paid back for one and had to take the full cab if paint trash home with me.

Would have been better to have a fan type spray instead of just spot.
