Was surprised with how easy and well the product performed!! I did one bathroom vanity with the small kit and could have done another - plenty of product included! Original color of cabinets was a blonde oak. (Color selected: Shoreline)

    if you can follow directions
there are many steps but if you follow them this will turn out great. EXCEPT do not use their cheesecloth from the box, it will shed lots of lint all over your beautiful project. They obviously did not think that one through. either wash it, or use another similar cloth.

If you’re on the fence on whether or not to do this..do it!
This product is fantastic! Super easy to follow instructions. I am so happy with the final product. I didn’t use the optional glaze bc I loved the way it looked already. I did this dresser and have enough for a second one. This is the castle color.

        Easy project
I love the way this turned out!!! I'm not going to lie, I have no patience so I didn't wait the full time to dry in between coats. I also didn't do the last 2 step after reading reviews I was scared to attempt them and I like the matted look. I think it turned out beautiful.

I have used various paints, primers and sanding for previous paint projects and every time paint would wear off. I have used Rustoleum Transformations and redid my bathroom and kitchen cabinets as well as spindle rails on my staircase -- this product is OUTSTANDING!!! It really works, paint stays, no peeling or chipping. Thank you for this product.

Mixed reviews. I liked that everything I needed except the brushes were in a kit. However, I didn't use the glaze and I didn't use the polyurethane that came with the kit after reading numerous negative reviews (I bought a separate polyurethane). In the end I needed just a small amount of glaze to finish the project so I ended up having to purchase another entire kit. It came out beautiful but don't think it was worth the price for basically the deglosser, glaze, and a couple stir sticks. They need to offer the glaze as a separate standalone product or I'll probably go with something else on my next project. The store was already suggesting preferred options because of complaints for the same reason.

The greatest find for furniture restoration
We've refurbished a table and a buffet; stripping, sanding, lacquer, and painted, diy'er projects took us roughly a month for the buffet and at least two weeks on the table. But, this time around we just so happen to come across the Rust-Oleum Furniture transformation kit and it took us literally 3 days to color a 72 inch long couch table. BeaUUUUUUtiful

The product was complete and the instructions were detailed enough to insure a good outcome. The piece of furniture I refinished was approximately 14 square feet, & there was plenty of material left for a second small piece, so the claim that the kit is sufficient for 35 square feet appears accurate, except for the amount of cheesecloth provided; I nearly used all of it on my small chest, so will need to buy more, but no big deal. What was of some concern was there was corrosion/contamination inside the can of Protective Top Coat which tended to flake off into the contents of the can so I had to proceed with caution to prevent this from getting onto the finished piece. If it weren't for this small issue I would have rated the product 5 stars.

              easy to use
read reviews before purchasing kit. took everyone's advice to use a different polyurethane satin kit. Took a day and a half only because of the wait for drying. I tried uploading the before picture... but the site won't let me. The original dresser was corn or golden in color. Chose espresso for transformation kit product. Didn't use the optional glaze.

Used the kit to darken an oak hutch. Liked the results and after reading several reviews, also found this process takes some effort to get the results you want. Didn't use the glaze like many others and also found that the top coat dries quickly. Brushes on milky white but dries clear. I will use this product again.

I was looking to use GF Milk Paint for my project, but since I did not have a local vendor nearby and it was a holiday weekend, I decided to go with the Rust-Oleum Transformations Furniture Coating System. Just be sure to spend an extra few minutes deglossing and lightly sanding your work before staring and you'll be happy with the results. The base coat goes on smoothly and leaves no brush marks. It also can be sprayed on, with minimal thinning and dries fast. The supplied finish coat gives it a light satin sheen, but not too shiny. Later on I finally did purchase a quart of the GF Milk Paint, but was disappointed with how much more thick it was than the Rust-oleum. Perhaps it's because it doesn't require a finish coat, but I wish Rust-Oluem sold the finish coat on its own since it's so easy to work with.

                  Very Easy
Bought a $30 laminate dresser at a thrift store. Refinished using this product as recomended by a friend. We chose Bayleaf for a color. It came out amazing. The protective coat was a little hard to use but since i have refinished furniture before i knew to lightky sand and apply another coat. I ended up using Minwax Polycrylic for the top since it went on a little smoother but over all the kit was great. Already planning my next project.

Please save yourself the hassle and heartache and avoid this product. I was having wonderful results until the protective top coat, step 4. I am an experienced painter. After a terrible result from the recommended technique, I tried several other techniques and different tools including what the Home Depot “paint expert” recommended and the results are no better. I’m left with streaky, awful looking cabinets, a bathroom in shambles and trying to figure out how I’m going to correct it all. I can’t imagine how this product has received 4 stars and anyone is satisfied with the end result.

Yikes, that's not what we like to hear, Nicole! It is important to keep in mind that the Protective Topcoat found in Rust-Oleum Furniture Transformations Kit is a fast drying and it is important to avoid over-brushing areas that have started to dry. It is also essential to use a synthetic brush and apply in the direction of the grain.

After reading the reiviews I decided to use this kit, I read and viewed the online video. So I gave myself lots of time ( even allowing more time between applications to get good results, so everything went well with the deglosser, all seemed good with the base coat and all seemed correct up until the finish coat dried - the clear coat dried in an uneven fashion Table dried with streaks Chairs we’re worse with dull finish on the back A disappointing end result so I call restoleum and asked for assistance on correcting they suggested redo the furniture again and I mentioned there was not enough material left in the kit to redo, they offered no solution. So my advise beware this kit is hit or miss. Took a nice kitchen and chair ser and ruined them.

I started using the Kona color kit, to fix the legs of the leather couch and the chair, both had quite a few scratches on the wooden surface after a few years of use. After realizing how easy the whole process was, I moved on to the bigger project. I decided to re-stain this rather expensive Ethan Allen cabinet and a matching wine cabinet, that no longer matched the colors of the new condo we moved in. I had a lot of fun with the decorative gloss and different techniques of its application, I found on rust-oleum website, and was pretty impressed with the final look.

I have an old ugly desk I was going to toss. I happened to see the Furniture Transformations kit at Home Depot and thought "What have I got to lose?" and gave it a try. I followed the steps to the letter and was more and more impressed with the results with each step. It was easy, the coating is kind of a cross between stain and paint (a little thicker coverage than stain but you can still see the grain of the wood). I chose Cabernet as it seemed to be the closest to the dark cherry that the rest of my furniture is. The color is deep and rich, exactly what I wanted. The only problem I had was the top coat. It went on streaky and some spots dried so quickly that I couldn't fix the brush strokes. I called Rustoleum and they advised waiting about 12 hours then adding a second coat. This did the trick, the finish is flawless. The desk looks like a new piece of furniture, not a do-it-yourself project. With the kit and some new hardware, I spent just over $50, considerably less than what a new desk would cost. ****One bit of advice, the Home Depot employee suggested buying 1 good-quality brush rather than the 3 brushes suggested on the box. I'm glad I did, the better brush made application easier and smoother and the color coating and top coat wash out easily with soap and water.

                          So much fun!!!
This was my first "restoration" and I have to say it turned out great. The directions are easy to follow. I restored an old dresser for my 7 year old daughter. She even helped with the color painting. I stenciled the pics over the paint and then put the top coat over it. There were no smudges or smearing. The smell isn't bad either and was able to do the whole project in the house. I have to say I'm not a fan of the decorative coat as it changed the color (you can see the mirror is darker). As this was for my daughter's room we wanted the brighter color. The top coat dries rather quickly so that was a huge plus. There were also some gouges on the top of the dresser that I did not sand out. They're hardly noticeable after painting.

                          Transformations by Rust-oleum
Transformations is truly one of the most incredible products out there!!! I wanted a new bedroom set because mine felt outdated... it is the honey oak...After pricing furniture...which is garbage compare to the solid wood 30 year old furniture I have.... I turned to Transformations made by Rust-oleum. Within a weekend I updated a 6 foot armoire, 6 foot long dresser, 2 nightstands and a headboard. Because the honey oak had such a lovely design, I made it 2 toned to I could have the light and the dark. Not for everyone's taste but I sure like it! OMgosh!!! I have a new bedroom set!!! I bought 2 kits for cupboards and had left over. The Cabernet is warm and elegant!! 3 years later today I resurfaced a end table top that was cracking from Colorado dryness. OMgosh again..the Cabernet covered the blemishes and the piece looks brand new. HIGHLY recommend this product!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact I HAVE recommended this product to another friend who wants to update her bedroom set. A little sweat equity and its done. I'm happy!!!

This kit is worth every penny. I redid a dresser and two nightstands with the one kit. I did follow the advise of the other reviewers and got a can of satin finish polyurithain instead of what came in the box. I couldnt be happier and have recommended it to everyone I know.

                            Great buy
I purchased this to liven up two "antique" pieces of furniture that my parents "off loaded" on me when they move to a new house. They are very old, and really quite beat up looking (one piece appears to have received several repairs). I chose to sand them, going the extra effort, and used an HVLP set up to paint. I used the glazing, even though they say it won't work if you spray, but there are enough dents, nicks, groves edges and cracks for the glazing to go and add character. This project went so well, it has inspired me to start hitting up garage sales and buying old furniture to fix up a resell. For this project I used the espresso color, which basically looked like Hershey chocolate until the glazing was applied. I applied the glazing twice, which worked out nicely for the dark results I wanted

                            Worth it
We decided to transform an old dresser using this product. The process does take a while and is not something you want to rush but if you have the time and are willing to do it than i highly recommend this kit. It was nice not having to sand down or prime the furniture first. I would say it is probably not JUST a one weekend project. We started on our dresser on Saturday afternoon and got thru the first 2 steps. We applied the Glaze yesterday afternoon and will go back this coming weekend to put the protective finish on. The color matching seems to be pretty spot on (the lid of the box has the options) and then the paint department dyes it your requested color. The Toasted Almond looks just like it did on the box. I cant wait to 'transform' more furniture!

Used on stairs not furniture- still AMAZING!
I used this product on my stair case instead of furniture. It turned out great. I only did the top of the stairs with the product, the rest of the stair I painted white with paint from Home Depot. This would probably be better for furniture not stairs because the top protective coat is slick. However, I also have a similar product for wood floors, and I will use that top coat on the stairs so they will be protected and not slick. I am going to do the railing the same way I did the stairs. I love how it turned out. I had to use 4 or 5 coats of the glaze included in the kit to get the color I wanted. So don't be discouraged if it is not the right color right away, if you keep glazing it (if that is how you wanted it) it will work.
