  • it's good multi-purpose sand
  • February 15, 2013
  • Recommended Product

The review stating it has "pebbles" and thus isn't good for concrete mix and IS good for play sand is just plain incorrect. Concrete mix can and often does have coarse sand mixed into it -- this causes no problems. Play sand should certainly NOT have pebbles in it and should be of a finer grain. Play sand is, in fact, sold separately at Home Depot. If you're looking for mixing sand or sand for traction on your driveway, etc., this mix is perfect.

  • 60 lb. Multi-Purpose Sand
  • November 03, 2015
  • Verified Purchase & Recommended Product

Apart from the 60 lb. Multi-Purpose Sand being heavy - 60lb the product was great. The only thing I would suggest is being conscious of transporting it. The bags, if handled incorrectly can open on their own.

  • Great for outdoor projects

I use it for planters that need a sandy loam. Also use it outside for areas that need good drainage. We have clay based soil here & hign traffic areas turn into a mucky mess with even moderate amounts of rain.

I used 14 bags for the base and joints in my paver patio. There weren't any stones or pebbles in any of the bags. It worked great for the base. So far so good on the joints.

I used the product to loosen soil prior to laying down a sod lawn. The sand was of consistent granularity and perfect for this landscape application. The bagging was sturdy so that none of them leaked in transit or prior to use.
