I used 20 of these to mount two large metal corbels to support a beam extending out from a post on our porch.
I painted the heads black so they would blend in better with the finish on the corbels. The paint stuck O.K., though leaving them out in the sun for a couple days before use may have helped with that.
They're advertised as no-drilling needed, but I had no desire to possibly split the old wood I was working with, so I drilled 3/16" where I placed the bolts.
SIZING NOTE: These 1/4" bolts actually have a diameter of .280" at the the threads. I ended up needing to open-up the 1/4" holes in the corbels so the bolt's thread portion would pass through. Mentioning this in case you're using these for metal brackets.

Used it to attach a 2x4 onto an exterior wall(where I hit a wood stud) to hold up a bracket that holds a 10 ft, 6 inch, type B vent. It does add up, but typically you only need a handful at a time, hopefully. I did predrill with a tiny drill bit since my wood was pretty dry and I didn't have any left. Didn't want it to split.

Durable, good grip strength. You can hammer on these with an impact drill without breaking them.

These are really great. Assorted sizes available. I use them in 4 1/2 and 6 inch for cedar fencing repairs along with the Simpson fence post mender. These drive very well with small battery impact wrench. Hex head holds up well to the drive and the screw design requires no pre drill. I do drill thr post mender (steel) first with 1/4 in bit so the lags fit easy. Bottom line these are great

Connected two by two’s together making furniture and I was really pleased. I drilled a small pilot hole in the top piece to insure a good glue fit and had no screw breakage or screw stripping out in the wood. Worth the expense. I used a lock and a small flat washer and I don’t feel they will loosen.

Great lag screw - I like these better than a traditional lag screw with a washer because I don't have to worry about losing the washer. I used a bunch of these to attach the outer posts of a large interior dog gate to the wall. These hold with a great amount of strength and are very sturdy.
