Don't buy this model
Don't buy this evaporative cooler. It's a well built product that functions as advertised if you need a fan to blow air around. The issue I have is that I wanted an effective evaporative cooler. As a comparision, I also have a Kuul-Aire evap model that will evaporate about 1 gallon of water in slightly less than 90 minutes on a hot dry day, the result is a nice cool breeze that you can really feel when it's a hundred plus. By comparision, this model will evaporate about a quart of water in the same amount of time! So it does work but not really all that well. (Yeah, I tried the ice thing and the cold water thing, helps a little) This issue was mentioned before by another reviewer, the problem is the mesh curtain design. I read that review before I bought this model and decided to buy it anyway since so many others claimed it worked really well. I don't know what their minimum standards for effectiveness are but they seem to be much lower than mine. It's not a quality issue, it's a design issue. Don't buy this evaporative cooler.

No go for CO
It had good air flow when you are right in front of it but ours made a weird fan sound and it also had a strange smell. We live in southwest CO and it just didn't cut it, we took it back 24 hours later.

Doesn't cool very well.
I have a much bigger evaporative cooler that I use for the living room. I bought this one to use in the bedroom. The problem isn't the size, it's the lack of cool air. On my bigger unit, if I put my hand in front, the air coming out is cool. On this unit, the air coming out doesn't feel cool. It acts as more of a fan than an evaporative cooler. As I fan, I like it. It has great movement and decent power. I also like that you can put a timer on it. But I don't feel it cools very well for an evaporative cooler.

Good purchase
It's may not be as effective as a refrigeration type air conditioner but it does help a lot in a hot Alabama garage, and lot less expensive to purchase and operate.

Love the efficiency and comfort in the bedroom upstairs where it helps main cooler keep cool.
The cooler was easy to set up and get going. The room is cool which makes for a better nights sleep.

    DOESNT WORK!
I bought this for a tiny room: 10x10, and it literally doesn't put out any cool air. Works as a fan.... Kinda. A fan would've been cheaper and more effective. Made the room humid & even using freezing cold water AND ice (in their respective holding parts) in the unit didn't help. I bought thinking it would be fine for such a tiny tiny room to use only 1 hour a day. Wrong! Returning!! Don't waste your money.

      Great!
This cooler is just the trick for cooling my bedroom - and I live in the hot Nevada Desert. I read the negative reviews and am surprised. Seems several bought this item thinking it would cool their entire house! I did not need to add ice or ice wtaer - just regular tap water and it works just fine for me...

Making my enclosed patio into a comfortable work space
It works as advertized, bringing cooled air into a 100 sq ft area. For music and art, enclosed patio does not have the advantage of the household AC, so hot summer afternoons rendered the workspace unusable. With my new evaporative cooler, I can use the patio for my extraneous projects all day. I love having it.

      Not perfect
This cooler does not put out cold air, even with ice. It blows very well and I am using ice packs in front of it to tr to cool the air a little more. I don't have a thermometer, but I would say that the air is only a few degrees cooler. If other factors are not an object, go for air conditioning.

      Good Product for the Price
Very easy to use, it is already assembled from package. Cools small areas such as living room, bedroom, etc. Keep in mind that is a 100 SQ. FT., that is why it is less expensive compared to other portable coolers with a bigger square feet capacity. The quality of the product is good, in fact I buy this item because we were giving this product at work during summertime to cool out work area, which is inside a manufacturing and mold injection machine. I liked it and I decided to buy one for the family. It does helps to reduce electricity cost, sometimes the weather gets a little high and instead of using the AC, we use this product and keep the living room cool.

      It's okay
It works but not for long range and not for long without ice water. Probably works best as a humidifier or an ionizer than a cooler. Still okay but not great.

Little bit better than a fan
Really expected more out of it but works fairly well when faced directly in front of you. Overall a good product!

What did you expect for the price you paid? I love this little cooler!
Beforehand, i read the reviews, it does have poor cooling media, yet for another 5 bucks i also bought a cheep bag of aspen cooling media!. I'm smarter than most apes and i do have the ability of identifying and using a phillips screwdriver, removing the back panel, and inserting such aspen material between the factory installed (poor) media. Outperforms the $450 Honeywell cooler! Honest, i just bought it for the CFM ( because i know what it means) the remote, and the price. Instead of getting my feet rubbed by honeywell, i bought a good product, with a remote, (in china humidity levels might not be a concern, therefore, the cheep net they put in this machine to hold whatever cooling media you choose!) I don't know! maybe they pack the net with Potpourri! it smells nice! Different country, different traditions, and Different Intelligence and creativity! I knew i would not get an instant reward after the purchase, something obvious, it's missing the cooling media. I bought $5 bucks of aspen, performs one million times better than the honeywell. I saved some money, like $250 on this purchase just for having some basic knowledge of how evap coolers work, and how to use my hands to use a basic tool, called a screwdriver. the electronics were done for me by the Manufacturer. Maybe they didn't include the cooling media as a way to mock you? I'm just guessing. Mine works awesome! (after placing aspen between their cooing net they provided with the machine). Good Luck!

          Disappointed in product
The evap cooler looks very nice but does not cool well. It functions as a fan and does not cool.

          Zero star
No cooling at all!!!I give it 0 star My little fan for $10 doing better job compare next to each other. It was my second order because the first one was lost as UPS left the item @ front door at the apartment I live without notification of delivery. I cancel this order to get refund. The second order arrived @ HomeDepot location for pickup. I return it the next day as absolutely bad. Never buy it again.

            SAD PANDA
This product works great on nights that are cool. I live in a townhouse and my a/c does not reach the upstairs. So I got this cooler to help cool my bedroom. On nights when it is about 80 degrees or higher outside, my bedroom is around 90 degrees and higher, this cooler does not cool the bedroom, in fact the fan part works better then the cooler does on it. I now have to go buy another item to try and cool my room down

            Poor cooling media
This is my 2nd evaporative cooler. When I received this cooler I placed it side by side my other swamp cooler to compare. I let them both run for about 10 minutes to let the cooling pads saturated. This one does not blow any cool air. I'm pretty sure it's due to it using a thin cloth-like curtain as the cooling media, verse my other cooler that uses a thick honeycomb material (which is about 2 inches thick). The difference is day and night. I had to return this.

It did not cool my bedroom as i expected, it's just as good as a Fan.

              Nothing special
Does a "fair" job of cooling. Instructions were poor at best. NOWHERE in the accompanying pamphlet does it say how much water it holds! Consequently I wound up with water all over the garage floor.

              Don't waste your money!
I live in Barstow CA which has very low humidity, so I thought that this portable evaporative cooler would work to cool down my bedroom. It didn't.. No matter what I did it only blew hot air. I tried ice and ice cold water .. still warm air. I had it in front of an open window , then in front of the open door.. Nothing worked, it never once blew cold air, not even cool air. It did however put a lot of moisture in the air, which just made it hot and soupy feeling. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that it uses a mesh curtain that the water trickles down.. perhaps if it had a honeycomb pad it might have worked. I suggest though, to save your money for a window unit or a more expensive portable cooler. On the bright side customer service was pleasant and helpful.

                not bad for the price
If you are looking for something to cool a whole room/apartment, this might not be for you. It does cool down a small area though! I keep it right next to my bed and it lowers the temp 5-10 degrees. The remote comes in handy for sure! I will warn you it is fairly loud! Overall worth the cheap cost

                Good Product
I wrote an earlier review... but it is worth a second one. It is now cooling well. and has reduced the feeling of warmth to cool in the bedroom when I moved it there. One thing to note. 1. It is a swamp cooler, not an AC 2. It really cools you 3. ICE and ICED water makes it work much better (especially in humid climates or humid periods) 4. Have some ventilation 5. let the louvers swing 6. dont close it up in a small room without ventilation 7. can really assist a window AC, as a window AC evaporates humidity and this produces it to cool 8. On Humid Days, add lots of icewater and ICE (I am in the south and swamp coolers has to be managed different that dry climates)
