Makes a Great Router MatI bought this to use as a large router mat, instead of a rug pad. The design is nicer than the lower quality large checkerboard style of rug pads, and lets it grip a little better. (It should work fine as a rug pad too!)
It's still not quite the holding strength of some router mats though, but should work well for large surface areas like a planer sled. Plus, it's 40% less expensive per square foot than other router mats I could find out there. It also trims easily with scissors, so I can cut it to any size or shape I want for individual jigs.
The one downside is that it had a VERY strong smell for the first week or two, but it eventually dissipated.
