  • Samsung brings hi-tech into the laundry room

This dryer is so much more advanced, with many new features, than my old dryer. My dryer was professionally installed when it was delivered so I can't provide much input on the ease of installation. I will point out a couple of things though: The dryer has steam capabilities which means it needs a connection to the water supply. A "Y" connector is provided for this, but you will need to purchase an additional hose to connect off the Y adaptor down to the dryer. You should also replace your exhaust vent tube since there can be built up lint from your older dryer. As with any dryer, keep the exhaust vent clean to prevent a fire danger. The dryer door can be reversed to open either direction so you can move clothes easily from the washer to the dryer without having the door in the way. It has 14 preset dryer settings you can use depending on type of load you are drying. These are: Active wear Delicates Wool Permanente Press Bedding Heavy Duty Normal Eco Normal Quick Dry Time Dry Air Fluff Refresh Wrinkleaway Steam Sanitize Yes - this dryer even has steam functionality to remove wrinkles and sanitize the load. Plus from the keypad you can adjust any of the presets and you can even save your drying profile. The drum is a large 7.5 CU feet to handle large loads. The Samsung dryer is available in both an electric and gas model as well as a matching washer. I like the Wrinkle-away and Steam Sanitize functions. I don't need to iron slacks when using the Wrinkle-away and I like using the Sanitize feature for bedding and towels. It does have a remote diagnostic app you can install on your smart phone, but with Samsung's quality I doubt I will ever need this feature. You'll have to refer to the Use and Care Manual for all the features and functions and which types of settings you should use based on the different loads. I am very impressed with the quality and results of this Samsung dryer and highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade/replace or install new.

Poorly designed. I should have returned it. Issue #1: When washing sheets or blankets, you are limited to a single blanked or no more than 2 sheets as any more than that will result in a tightly rolled wad that just bounces around and doesn't dry. I think the agitators are the issue here. Issue #2: The idler pulley for the drive belt is garbage and is VERY hard to source. The pulley on my dryer went out after about 15 months. It had been squeaking for a while, which I now know is because the bearings failed and the pulley wasn't turning. This caused the belt to just rub against the pulley (instead of the pulley turning as designed), which eventually rubbed one side of the pulley flat. This flat spot eventually wore the belt out. The belts are readily available, but Samsung Parts can't ship the item for 7-10 BUSINESS days, and I had to search for half the day before I found an online reseller with one in stock who could get it to me in a reasonable time. EPIC FAIL, Samsung! See the attached image for all the belt debris on the motor (fire hazard???) and the idler pulley with a hold worn in the side. Issue #3: The moisture sensor is ineffective. When you pay ~$1000 for a dryer, you have certain expectations. One of those expectations for me was that I could use the various cycles for their intended purpose. I'd like to throw a load of jeans in and have the dryer stop when they're dry instead of relying on a timer which allows the cycle to continue to run after the laundry is dry, thereby wasting energy and potentially shrinking/damaging clothes due to overheating them. Don't buy this dryer if you have similar expectations as it has never worked on any cycle that relies on the moisture sensor. You'll open the dryer to find a load of wet clothes every single time.

Dryer was defective (the terminals were cross threaded at the factory and would not tighten). Contacted Samsung and am still waiting for a dryer...scheduled for delivery 4 days from now. I have asked Home Depot's appliance and Samsung reps to contact me 4 days ago and have not heard from anyone. I don't understand why replacement of a defective unit is not a priority.

  • Quick dry time, spacious, great looks

PROS: Tons of space for clothes Super quick drying time - about 1 hour for a very large load Easy to clean filter Easy to switch door around I really love the look of the black stainless steel and how easy it is use the features. Even though I normally dry my clothes outside in the summer, I just had to give this a try as soon as it arrived. It dried a very large load in just about an hour and everything came out dry (no more half-dry clothes while everything else is dry)!! I didn't get the pedestals with my set (although I wish they were included) but even so, it's easy to access everything. Based on my previous experience with other Samsung products, I am really looking forward to getting many good years out of this dryer!

I would never recommend for anyone to ever buy a Samsung dryer. We had ours for just about a year before it broke. Turns out that a LOT of people are having similar issues with their dryers...they just don't last. That's not the worst of it...Samsung's customer service is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced with any product ever. There isn't a tech in the area that they could get to come out and fix it, so had to replace it...it's been almost 3 months and still don't have a dryer. Everyone we've talked to has had a similar experience with these, and I have a family friend who works at Home Depot who says that they are constantly having to deal with upset people because of these washer and dryers breaking. Shame on Home Depot for continuing to sell this crap.

  • DRUM CRCAKS BEFORE 2 YEARS! THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT. VERY POOR QUALITY
  • June 22, 2019

After two years the drum cracked on one edge where is supoorted by the bearing wheels. Have never seen this before in such a short time. A new drum costs 120$. This is so comon that samsung has Recall for it. Extemely poor quakity. Stay away from it. I ve got the gas version but this seem to be happening to all. Check picture. You will start hearing a noise every time it turnes like if you were havin a belt with a metal buckle inside the dryer.

  • July 24, 2018

This is brand new dryer is the worst I have ever had, and I am 65 years old. The sensors do not work at all. The clothes are wet at the end of any cycle. It takes two or three hours to dry a normal load on timed dry. It must be defective. I am getting a replacement on Monday. I hope it works.

Bought in July of 2016. This dryer has been problematic from the start and I should have returned it when I had the chance. The auto sensor never works. You choose a cycle type and the clothing is never dry when the cycle finishes. As others have mentioned, sheets and bedding just get turned into a big soggy knot. On June 23, 2018, the dryer started making a very loud squeaking noise which continued for several minutes before finally making a loud thump and stopping. There was a slight odor of burning rubber when it stopped. Its hard to believe the quality of these 700$ dryers are so bad they don't even run 2 years before failing.

I purchased the dryer about 2 months ago. The look is impressive, very sleek and it looks like "this is going to make my clothes look amazing". Truth is, the dryer is fine, not great. Biggest issues - on a very dry, medium heat setting - jeans take 2 cycles. Without the wrinkle guard, you better get your clothes out within a minute of the song finishing (by the way, that is the longest alert EVER) or you will be ironing. It does handle larger items like a comforter but just barely. Lastly, it is loud. It's upstairs inside the laundry room and it's easily hear downstairs on the other side of the house.
