good at first, but suffers long term
Had this unit for about 5 years now. First year was great, but then performance has been dropping ever since. Waterwall deflection piece loses it's home position and causes errors and needs to be reset. Water jets have hard water build up and aren't as powerful, so dishes on the lower rack no longer get fully clean. Now the flex tray on the top rack has dried out and crumbled, and is $100 to replace.

We all know a working dishwasher is needed to have clean plates, Jaysal. Let's go ahead and provide you with some helpful guides on this. We recommend to prevent hard water build-up, you use the following: •Use a commercial dishwasher cleaner. •Use high-quality, fresh detergent with rinse aid. •Use a water softener additive designed for dishwashers. Please check this link to your user manual for details. Turn to page 33. https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201904/20190418142623338/DW9900M_DD68-00184A-06_EN_MES_R.pdf Since your dishwasher's job is to clean, it's easy to forget it has its own cleaning needs. Exellent so far
I have had this product for over 2 months and so far, I have no complaints. The product was acquired to replace a contractor installed failing dish washer. It was delivered and installed by the delivery guys. Super easy to use, beautiful to look at and enough room for the dishes and other kitchen utensils. Extremely quiet compared to the last one. You only know it is working when the water drains and you are next to it. The mobile application on the other hand is not ready for primetime. It only alerts you when the dish washer is done washing. I love the look and my wife has no complaint as well. I love this machine and would recommend it without any reservation.

Very Quiet but doesn't clean well
We purchased this for our newly built home 3 months ago based on the features it offered and its relatively good reviews. But so far its performance doesn't come close to what we'd expect from a machine at this price point. I've included pictures of some of its "basic" cleaning fails - fails that most of our previous dishwashers (models that were well below the price of this one) would not have had. I don't expect any dishwasher to get baked on cheese or burnt on foods off, but I do expect all machines to have no problem getting light greasy residue off ANY surface - afterall, hot water alone does a decent job on its own doing that. So add in a Finish Powerball Tab and Jet Dry, like I have been using for the past several years in all of my machines, and I easily expected this machine to have no problem with greasy residue and lightly soiled dishes. I've used the "heavy" cycle option, and have added the hi-temperature boost option in an attempt to get it to clean better but to no avail. I'm really surprised this dishwasher has such consistently good reviews for its washing capabilities and am just glad we haven't experienced any of the mechanical failures that seem to be its real shortcoming with most of the consumers that are unhappy with it. I'm beginning to wonder if our machine was somehow not installed correctly or has a defect? It runs just fine and is super quiet - it just doesn't clean that well?

As a family with young kids this dishwasher is a lifesaver. The third rack is the best feature we have ever seen on a dishwasher, and is completely filled on every load. This is the perfect place for bottle nipples, rings, sippy cup lids, medicine cups, syringes, knives, utensils, beaters, and almost everything we ever need to wash. The middle rack is adjustable up or down to give more room to either the lower or middle rack, but we almost always have it adjusted down to allow for tall (pint) cups and bottles to fit. The lowest rack is still able to fit our dinner plates and small frying pans. The wifi feature is easily the second best feature after the third rack, although my wife prefers to use the controls on the dishwasher and has never used the app for control or notifications. However the app makes it simple to set the options exactly how you want them and save combinations as a favorite. It also gives you the exact time remaining and finish time, and also gives status messages about the dishwasher such as rinse agent running out or dishwasher basin needing to be cleaned. Overall the dishwasher looks great, is easy to load and use, and runs even more quietly than our old Bosch model that was one of the quietest available 9 years ago.

The quietest dishwasher I’ve ever heard! Sure, you can hear the gently swish-swish of the water during each cycle and then you’ll hear the soft music to let you know that it’s almost done. I tried to make a video to show you just how quiet it is but I had difficulty with other noises from around the house getting in! The only time I could really get a good recording would be at night when every two and four legged beast was asleep, but even then it was too soft to record. At first I wasn’t sure why anyone would get wi-fi on an appliance, but I’m glad that we did. We can monitor and control the dishwasher remotely from a cellphone. We installed the dishwasher ourselves with no problem except that later in the day it beeped at us and we didn’t know why. I had installed the app and it showed that we had a water leak. Yes, indeed we did! Thank goodness we were alerted to this because it could have been a watery mess the next day. We easily reconnected our hose and we were off to clean dishes! The app isn’t the easiest to install but it comes in handy to monitor the dishwasher’s performance, especially when I forget to turn the machine on at night or if I didn’t close the door properly, but I can check on the status anywhere. About five minutes from the end of the cleaning the music goes off and the door soon opens up about four inches on its own to release the moisture and steam to make the dishes dry faster. Our biggest problem is getting used to the new racks and trying to figure out the best placement for our different size cups and bowls. When we have water bottles we can lower the adjustable upper rack or even remove the top flexible “Flextray” that is used to house knives, utensils or small items. We have several washing options to choose from. The Zone Booster targets pots and pans or you can select the water to intensify washing on the left or right side of the washer. We use the Express 60 option most of the time to conserve water. It’s ideal for light loads and cleans the dishes faster. You can always choose the Normal, Heavy or Delicate options, too. This Samsung Top Control Dishwasher has many features that will come in handy in our large household. So far it has proven to be a winner!

This energy and water wise friendly dishwasher is 24 inches wide and depending on how you take the measurement 34 1/4 to 34 3/4 inches in height (it has an adjustable prong on the bottom for balancing). It comes with two traditional loading racks and third smaller flat rack at the top of the machine for awkward items like big utensils, carving knives, etc. All the controls are on the door jam (pull out). This is great if you kids who like to press buttons when the door is closed! Best of all, it is very quiet. It is so quiet I have caught myself a few times going through the kitchen to make sure the blue light was on and it was actually working! And, the way it uses the water, it will not impact taking a shower while doing this dishes. There is no loss in water pressure or heat. The only caveat to set-up, which was incredibly easy -- hook up hose, water and electrical cord -- was the electrical cord. It is short. Like seriously short, short. It is only 2 feet or so and for our kitchen set up and where the dishwasher goes in accordance to our sink and electrical hook up, it was short by about 8 inches. They should move to a 4 foot cord! It comes with some preset loads like china/crystal and pots & pans. i like these when I cook Italian and have sauced pots. It cleaned it with minimal effort on my end. it also has the rinse, wash and sanitize cycles too. I primarily got this for the stainless steel look on the exterior. It cleans easy with a wipe. As for the cleaning, it works like every other dishwasher, but does have a "zone booster." This is supposed to hit certain sections of the washer during the cleaning process more than the other areas. The interior also needs to be cleaned from time to time. I think this is more for water/calcium buildup that may take place over time. The guidebook tells you how to do this. Certain parts need to be removed and washed out. The washer likes pods and does require a rinse/drying aide. The two upper racks are adjustable for height. This comes in handy because the utensil rack (top most rack) is largely unneeded most of the time and kind of takes up space. Thankfully, you can adjust the middle rack to accommodate for it. What makes this dishwasher different is that it does not use a swirling water projectile to clean the dishes. Instead it uses a bar that goes back and forth in the machine to create a wall of sprayed water. This is supposed to clean your dishes better. So far, I can't tell if it is any better or not. But it does get them clean! It also comes with an door that automatically opens itself to help dry your dishes faster and cool them off quick too. This can be tricky. It lets you know the cycle is done. It is also smartphone friendly and you can control it or check in on it with wi-fi. I have not used this though...and unlikely if I ever will. This in my opinion is an unneeded perk. You can set it with all sorts of load times and water usage pre-sets. The buttons though are super sensitive. They act more like a smartphone where just a bare minimum of touch to the button will sound a beep (every button makes some sort of noise). But it is not too bad, since you always have to press "start" too, to begin a cycle. Lastly, you will want to register your product. When you do it online, you will be taken to a page that shows you all the bells and whistles of the machine and how it operates. You might think you know everything your washer does, but until you go over this page, you probably don't. It has a 1 year warranty.

I got this dishwasher to replace a fairly new, but horribly functioning dishwasher. The old dishwasher did an awful job getting anything clean so I was hoping that this dishwasher would do a much better job and I was not disappointed. This dishwasher is stainless steel inside and out which gives it a nice appearance. The controls are on the top of the door and includes a timer that shows how much time is left in the cycle. The only problem with the appearance is that it tends to show a lot of fingerprints. This dishwasher has three racks on the inside. The bottom and middle racks are for normal sized items and the top rack is for small, lightweight items so they don’t fly around during the wash cycle. The left side of the bottom rack is for heavily soiled items if you select the “zone booster” button when you start the wash. You can select from the following cycles when you run a wash: Auto, normal, heavy, delicate, express 60, rinse only, and self-clean. The self-clean cycle is used if you want to clean the tub of the dishwasher. The following options are available when you run a cycle: speed booster, hi-temp wash, and sanitize. I think hi-temp wash and sanitize are self-explanatory but speed booster is a setting that allows the dishwasher to run a faster cycle. I have found that this dishwasher does an exceptional job of cleaning. I have put pans with baked on grease and other food items without any soaking or scrubbing and it cleans nearly everything off the pans. Although the pans were not perfectly clean, they were much cleaner than they would have been in any of my previous dishwasher. I’ve included photos of the pans I’m referring to. My only complaint of this dishwasher is regarding a feature I think is mostly useless. It has a feature called “smart control” which is supposed to allow you to control the dishwasher with your mobile device if you have the Samsung app. I downloaded the app and followed the instructions to the letter and I have never been able to get the feature to work. The app has recognized the dishwasher but it’s never worked when I’ve tried to control it with my phone. I’m not especially bothered by this feature not working because I don’t really have situations where I need to start the dishwasher remotely but if Samsung is going to offer it, it should work properly. This is an excellent dishwasher and I definitely recommend it but Samsung should work on the “smart control” feature.

Absolutely Fantastic! The first time I ran this dishwasher I had to open the door a few times to be certain it was actually running - it is that quite! My old machine could be heard all over the house, but this machine is nearly silent and I only know it is running when I hear the occasional water draining into the disposal. There is a variety of cycle options with optional features such as Sanitize, Speed Booster and High-temp wash. I frequent the Sanitize and High-temp wash nearly every time, I mean why not? According to the manual the last rinse temperature reaches 163 degrees F vs the 131 to 154 degree range on other cycles. Count me in! Having the internal walls be stainless steel is a huge plus in keeping the internal machine clean (vs plastic). The third rack located at the very top of the dishwasher is something I haven’t seen before and wasn’t sure how I would like it. Short story... I love it! All those little gadgets that use to fall through the racks and end up on the bottom of my old dishwasher now have a dedicated place that even has it’s own spray nozzles from above to get everything clean. Check! The racks - everything is adjustable. The teeth slide up and down. Big pots are no longer being fandangled around, they sit perfectly in the racks. The options are endless but I don’t usually need to mess with them and they stay right where I leave them. The silverware holders are cleverly designed where you slide the handle into the holder so all the silverware isn’t laying on top of each other and not getting clean. For the first three weeks of using the machine I couldn’t figure out why there wasn’t an option to enable/disable drying (like on my old dishwasher). After closer examination of the base of the machine I realized Samsung did away with the nuclear fuel rod used to heat/dry old school dishwashers. I have lost countless plastics to it over the years. Well, no more. While I am still convinced there is some sorcery involved here, I can confirm that all my dishes - every single load - have come out dry. I have it set to the factory default and the door pops opens about 5 inches in the last 5 minutes to vent the steam off the hot dishes. It’s really cool. Sometimes the stars align and I will be there the exact moment the door pops open and I sit in awe as it did it all on it’s own. So proud! All in all this dishwasher is Fantastic! Buy it. You will not be disappointed. Sometimes, I load it with the filthiest dishes and they come back so clean and dry. There is only one detergent cup, but the manual gives you the green light to throw some extra detergent on the stainless steel door for those very dirty, heavy loads. So squirt away! I cannot attest to the use of detergent pods as I have never used them, nor do I plan to. Top Reasons I Love this Dishwasher: 1. Quiet (nearly silent) 2. Sanitize option 3. Cutlery 3rd rack 4. All racks are adjustable 5. The “Water wall” 6. No heating rod Thank you Samsung!!!

        Fantastic machine...with a few quirks.
With all the talk of this new "WaterWall" wash system being THE greatest change in dishwasher technology, I was interested in knowing and seeing if it made a difference. My conclusion, it works incredibly well on even the dirtiest and muckiest dishes. The machine itself is BEAUTIFUL. Sleek lines, pretty lights, and quiet like I've never experienced before - the machine is literally unheard even in it's loudest cycle. Without a doubt my favorite perk is that it opens the door automatically when it is finished washing to enhance the drying time and use less energy. It's a really great way to let you know "hey the cycle is finished, time to put away your dishes". While I love so many things about the machine there are a couple of negative caveats. Most of them have to do with the top rack and the upper utility rack. The top rack itself is hard to pull out smoothly. For whatever reason, it doesn't want to slide out easily, and tends to get hung up. The top rack is also supposed to be adjustable. There are two levers for setting the rack up higher or lower on either the left or the right sides. Unfortunately no matter how many times we tried to adjust one side higher than the other, we could not get the spray arm attachment to align correctly with the back connection, when only one side was up. When this happened we could not shut the front door of the dishwasher. The rack finally had to either be up or down on BOTH sides no matter what we tried to do to get it to accept the angled adjustment. Unfortunately, this made it difficult for taller (30oz) YETI mugs to be washed at the same time when we also needed to wash our bigger Pottery Barn (12") dinner dishes. If the angled setting of the top rack would work, it looks like the items would fit, but my machine just could not adjust on an angle. If we wanted to wash both items at the same time, we had to put the YETI mugs on the bottom rack with the top rack at it's highest setting. If we left the top rack in it's low setting, our very 12" large plates, absolutely would not fit. If the rack was left unadjusted, the spinning water arm on the bottom of the rack would not spin because it hit the plate. While I initially liked the upper 'utility rack', the more I use the machine the more I feel that it just takes up a lot of room, and I can't help but wonder if the Dishwasher would be better suited without the top utility rack altogether. I more often have much more to wash on the regular top rack, than I ever do with the utility rack. Having an option to simply take this rack out, might be a good idea. My honest opinion is perhaps the folks at Samsung should totally rethink this top utility rack. It really isn't doing that much good to be taking up that much space away from the much need room for the items in the regular top rack. Other than the top rack issues, the only other things I can point out are the fingerprint issues on the stainless steel front. Perhaps the Black Stainless steel shows up less fingerprints? I don't know. The power buttons are a bit complex. You must hit the power button to start any cycle - our old GE Profile machine had raised buttons, that we simply had to press "start" when we were ready to start the wash cycle. With this machine, the buttons are completely flat with very light colored writing - it's virtually impossible to start the machine without having an overhead light on. It would be VERY nice if the entire panel would light up when you press the Power button, so that you could easily SEE what button you want or need to press. Instead the power button lights up, and I need to get my glasses to see what/where the start button is. I can imagine that this will become old hat at some point and muscle memory will train me properly to just hit the buttons that I need to. Unfortunately until then, I will continue to need both a light and my glasses. It's a beautiful machine. It washes and cleans dishes like no other machine I've used before - the WaterWall technology really is the way of the future for dishwashers!

Great Quiet Washer, Smart Capabilities Didn't Work
I would recommend this product to a friend, but not if the friend was predominately interested in the Smart Technology of the appliance. The energy efficiency and quiet performance is such a huge improvement from the old model I had before. You can barely hear this model running while the old dishwasher could be heard from the other side of the house. The appliance was packaged well and arrived without any damage. The unit was professionally installed very quickly, after I had to have my valve replaced because it had been open for so long it had gotten stuck. The unit could not be installed initially until I had the valve replaced by a plumber, which delayed the professional installation by a few days. Pros: Very sleek looking appliance, with all the controls on the top of the door. The interior racks appear to be well constructed and maneuver easily. Good load capacity also; I am able to get a few more pieces into this unit than I could in my old washer. Be careful not to put large items too close to the detergent dispenser though, it will prevent the dispenser door from opening. I learned that lesson the hard way. Installers were super professional, on time, and efficient. They hauled away the old appliance. Cons: At the end of the wash cycle, the door opens automatically. After blaming the kids a few times for leaving the dishwasher open, I finally figured it out - not a significant issue. It doesn't open wide or anything it was just weird for it be open after washing dishes. I was really excited to try the Smart Technology and operate the dishwasher from my cellphone. Unfortunately, after 45minutes of trying, I gave up. Here is a synopsis of my struggles. First, I had to download the App. After I did that, I had to establish an account. Then, I was ready to select the device on the App. Then, I had to find the appliance in my phone’s Wi-Fi settings and select it. After the App acknowledged the device there was some additional steps I had to do with accessing my home’s Wi-Fi. Finally, when it seemed the appliance, the router, and the App were in unison, I still could not run the dishwasher. All of the wash settings did not appear on the App as options. When I tried to operate the rinse cycle (which was the only option it gave me) I kept getting an error message. I tried numerous times with negative results. Needless to say, the whole thing was a big exercise in frustration. I’ll try again eventually, but that was very disappointing. All in all it's a very beautiful, energy efficient dishwasher. All features work wonderfully with the exception of the wifi technology.

Extremely quiet, pointless bells and whistles
This unit is advertised as the "quietest in it's class", I don't think they're kidding - this thing barely produces a whisper when it's running. It has a thick foam/rubber coating on the hidden parts of the machine, which I suspect plays a huge roll in the noise suppression. Even the kick plate cover has a thick rubber backing and flap. This uses a unique cleaning mechanism that I have not seen before. Instead of the rotating water arm this unit has vertical sprayers that sweep back and forth. I found a video of it on their YouTube channel and it looks like a vertical wall of water moving backwards and forwards. I'm not sure if this was done for cleaning purposes or noise purposes... but either way it excels at both. The dishes have been crystal clean and as mentioned above it's barely audible the whole time. Like all of the "energy star" certified washers they take 2+ hours for a full cycle, compared to my old unit's 80 minute run time. There is a 60 minute quick wash option, but we've just been using the long wash and it does a great job. It has an option to automatically pop the door open when the cycle is done, they claim it's to speed up drying - and maybe it is, I can't tell. That said, it's a silly feature and I LOVE it. It's a visual indicator that the stuff inside is clean. Door closed = dirty dishes, door popped = clean dishes. Installation was a little worse than most, not as bad as some. The rear legs cannot be adjusted from underneath - they can only be adjusted from the back wall... which makes leveling the unit a huge pain. Slide it in, measure, slide it out, adjust... repeat ten times. Also for stone counter top owners, I'm going to save you HOURS of frustration: This unit can be screwed into the side cabinets instead of the countertop. You have to take the little metal brackets they give you and slide them into some slits on the side of the unit. Then inside the door is a small plastic plug, remove it and you can screw through the bracket into the cabinet. Good luck finding that documented anywhere in the owners manual though. I did remove one star for some useless bells and whistles though. This washer is WiFi enabled and has an Androis/iOS app... totally pointless. The Android app has a downright awful user experience, and the only feature I found useful was the ability to shut off the "I'm Done" song that Samsung insists on adding to all of their appliances. When I went to sign up for the app I kept getting a cryptic error message. After much frustration and tinkering around I discovered I already had an account (it uses the same accounts as their website and I must have signed up at some point). After I got in I was instantly annoyed... the washer takes an abnormally long time to connect to the app, there are grammar and translation mistakes all over the place, and it doesn't really offer any interesting features. It shows me that the washer is still washing, great... that provides zero useful or beneficial information. The other useless feature is the "flex tray", or third rack, thankfully it is removable. If you leave it in place, the middle (or top) rack becomes so short it's almost worthless - dessert plates and water glasses couldn't fit in our washer. We left it in for a few days but didn't find ourselves using it at all so we pulled it out and have a normal sized top rack now. Speaking of that top rack, it has a cool feature that allows you to raise/lower it which we found awesome. 90% of the time we leave it at one height, but every now and then you get a tall pot or a weird shaped pan and it's really useful to move that top rack up and give yourself some breathing room. All around, an excellent unit. If for no other reason, it's worth it for the silence.

        Queitest dishwasher I've ever heard
This dishwasher is sooo incredibly quiet. I honestly cannot get over how quite this machine is. It is without a doubt the quietest dishwasher I have ever (not?) heard. Our previous dishwasher was a cheap builder grade model that came with our house when we bought it seven or eight years ago. When it was doing a load of dishes you had to turn the TV in the living room way up in order to hear anything. A few days ado I swapped it out in favor of this dishwasher from Samsung and the difference is just incredible. I have pretty good hearing but I find it difficult to hear the dishwasher running when there is any other noise in the room. Even when my wife was taking a shower upstairs it drowned out most of the noise the dishwasher was making. When the air conditioning kicks on I can't hear it at all unless I put my ear up to it. I didn't post a video of the dishwasher actually running a cleaning cycle because it would be useless. The microphone on my camera isn't sensitive enough to pick up the sound it makes. The loudest noise it ever makes is when it is discharging water into the garbage disposal and when the alarm goes off to let you know it has finished. It makes lots of pleasant little sounds to let you know when it is done. The unit is really solidly built and uses just about every square inch of available space under the counter-top. The tub is wrapped in a heavy sound deadening material along with a gray padding. There are rubber gaskets running along the top and sides to help seal in the noise. You can tell Samsung went to a lot of trouble to get this dishwasher down to its 38 dba rating. I elected to install the unit myself instead of having the delivery company do it. I prefer to do stuff like that myself and it helped familiarize me with the unit. Plus, I feel like they are always in a rush and don't pay attention to details. The instructions definitely need some work. Samsung probably assumes most people will have a professional plumber, electrician, or delivery company install it. The pictures are not very descriptive. For example, at the bottom front of the unit there is a heavy duty black rubber flap that hangs down. I don't know what purpose it serves other than getting in your way when you are trying to wire up the electrical connection. I found out after installing the kick plate that I believe this flap is supposed to be tucked behind it. The instructions don't show the flap nor say what to do with it. The instruction manual says the dishwasher needs to be within one degree of level or it could leak. Now that's just frankly impossible to accomplish without some sort of specialized leveling tools. You'll never know if you're within one degree of level by using a bubble level. I managed to get the unit level from left to right but front to back was difficult. I couldn't find a suitable flat spot to place the level. I ended up using the drawer slides and giving it just a slight tilt backwards. That way the water is going toward the back of the unit and not the front. If you're having someone else install it for you most of this will not be of concern to you. I had a real heck of a time actually getting the dishwasher under the counter. We have granite counter-tops and the granite installers put a metal plate on the bottom side of the counter-top in order for the screws that hold the dishwasher in place to have something to thread in to. This plate only adds maybe 3/16" of an inch of thickness to the counter-tops but it was enough to keep me from being able to slide the unit in on the left side. I hate to this, but I ended up removing the leveling foot on the left side and grinding it down using my bench grinder. I hated to do it but I had no choice. Samsung should look at making the feet just a bit shorter or allowing them to be threaded up into the base to create more vertical clearance. If I had thick hardwood floors I never would have gotten the dishwasher in. There are three trays inside the dishwasher, and it looks like Samsung tried to maximize every square inch of space inside it for your dishes. The top tray is very shallow and has a removable rubber mat. This would be a great spot to put lids for sippy cups, bottle nipples, etc. This tray won't get as much direct spray from the spray nozzles so I wouldn't put anything really dirty up here. The middle tray has its own rotating sprayer and it does a great job of cleaning glasses and coffee mugs. Compared to the other trays it's a little wobbly side-to-side when you pull it all the way out of the dishwasher to load it but I think that's because there's no way for it to have more support. The lower tray is supported by the door and the top tray is one solid piece of plastic. The lower tray is where we put the really grimy stuff since it has the best cleaning mechanism that is able to hit everything down there. I like the utensil holder as well. You can open the top to drop in your knives, forks, and spoons or leave it closed and use the holes to hold them up high to get them nice and clean. Thanks to all of the insulation this really holds in the heat. When it has finished a cleaning cycle the door pops open so that the latent heat can help dry everything. After emptying the dishwasher and closing it I found that it was still holding quite a bit of heat a while later. Its so good at holding the heat in our counter-top no longer gets warm to the touch. This unit has to be a lot more efficient than our old one was. While the dishwasher is running it glows a light blue underneath the handle so you can tell at a glance if it has finished. There is also a countdown timer alongside the controls. One thing that has me very confused is, just how much power this dishwasher needs. At the time I write this review the Home Depot website says it needs 40 amps. Is there such a thing as a 40 amp 120v in today's homes? My house is only eight years old and the dishwasher circuit is a dedicated 20 amp circuit. So, according to the Home Depot website I am 20 amps under the current rating for this dishwasher. But we've used the dishwasher quite a bit and the 20 amp breaker hasn't tripped once. After digging through the user manual I found that it only requires a dedicated 15 amp 120v circuit. So, if you're hesitant about buying this dishwasher because of the "40 amp" requirement it looks like the Home Depot website is just wrong. No idea where the 40 amp rating came from. For what it's worth, the bottom door is pretty tough. My 30+ pound two-year-old likes to help us unload the dishwasher and for some reason he thinks it's okay to climb up and stand ON the door when it is open. Twice I have caught him doing it, but luckily the door seems to be tough enough to withstand his weight even at the very edge. Unfortunately, the most disappointing thing about this dishwasher for me is that it has Wifi capability but I can't use it. You can ONLY control the dishwasher with the Samsung Smart Home App. The Smart Home App will NOT run on rooted devices. This is just ridiculous so I'm deducting one star from my review. Do I need a Wifi controlled dishwasher? In reality, I don't. But it's ridiculous that I can't use it on my rooted phone. If you don't know what "rooting" an Android phone is then this issue won't affect you and you can disregard my frustration and consider this a five star review. One other very minor thing I don't like about the dishwasher is that you can't close the door without latching it. This is a result of the door auto opening at the end of a cycle to dry the dishes. The door is spring loaded so it opens just by unlatching itself. Because it's so water/air tight it seems to be holding the smell of the dishes and you get a big whiff when you open it. If you leave the door unlatched it sticks out 5 inches or so. I'd like if there were a way to just kind of slightly close it but not have to let it latch closed. Maybe leave it open just a quarter to a half inch. I'm not marking any deductions for this. It's more of a personal preference. Aside from the Wifi disappoint this dishwasher performs awesomely. I'm just hoping the stainless finish can stand up to my two-year-old hitting it with matchbox cars and other assorted toys.

        WaterWall Wash System
This Samsung Dishwasher utilizes a new technology for the washing mechanism. Instead of a circular water spray, this unit has lines of water spray which form a pattern that Samsung calls WaterWall Wash. A normal wash cycle for us with this unit is about 2 and one half hours. We never timed the old dishwasher so we don’t have a clue how long it took to finish. There is supposed to be an Express 60 cycle that’s supposed to speed things up. We haven’t tried this yet. There are features we like and consider special. We love the narrower third drawer at the top of the machine. It is designed to hold cutlery and serving utensils. We make use of it every time. Not sure how they added this and still have all the room the rest of the dishwasher has but it is my favorite thing about this machine. It makes a place for all those things that never fit anywhere without falling through or taking up valuable real estate where the gasses should have gone. We like the digital readout at the top, which among other things it tells you how much time is left until the cycle is complete. The box for the detergent is a nice size so that we can easily use it to put prepacked detergent squares in the box. The dishes are well cleaned at the end of the cycle, but they are not completely dry. The auto-release door function is supposed to help dry the dishes faster but, so far, we still have water on the same things we did with the old dishwasher. The recommended way to load the plates and bowls is well designed. There are a number adjustable rack parts that help you place unusual sized bowls and pots. One area can completely collapse to provide an open flat space as big a 15” x 10”. This is great when you have several pots and pans. Using the grids on the utensil rack and putting the silverware handles in through those holes, with the eating part above the holes, keeps them from nesting and helps at unloading time because you can put same things together. You can control the functions of the dishwasher and obtain status of the cycle on your smartphone using the WIFI and the Smart Control features of the unit. We haven’t taken advantage of this yet but we were able to get connected. The ease with which the racks roll in and out is not as good as we would like. The racks hang up at times and it is hard to decide quickly how to overcome this. It would seem that there could be a smooth way to get over the door crack. This dishwasher is quiet and the “on” light can be seen from across the room. We’ve had this a short time so have not had the time to really experiment with all the super features – like zone booster. It also has a leak sensor and will turn the machine off if it senses a leak. This is a great looking machine that functions as great as it looks.

        Don't invest in this
Not worth it. Never worked great - had some issues after the warranty expired and the fix was about the same as replacing the entire unit. Replaced with GE. Samsung designs nice-looking appliances but I regret having put all Samsung products in our remodeled kitchen. One by one they are all dying.

Not Happy With This Dishwasher or Samsung
since we purchased this dishwasher in march of 2019 we have had to replace the waterwall assembly, vanes for the waterwall, drain pump, door opener actuator (twice). the latest issue is the dishwasher trips the circuit breaker, even for the rinse cycle. not sure what the issue is yet. fortunately we purchased the 5 year extended warranty and it's a good thing we did! on average we have had to have a significant repair every 7 months. this has been happening since 01/2020. additionally, the flex rack is falling about rubber is rotting. this is not covered and it's not cheap to replace. when it works, it cleans dishes just okay, not great and not bad - just okay... i would stay away from samsung dishwashers.

              HORRIBLE product
bought a house with this dishwasher and can't wait for it to break so i can get a bosch. racks do not slide smoothly, get hung on side. door stays open unless you completely close it and is in the way when working on the countertop above the dishwasher. the silverware baskets wobble and come out. the pins on the rack are poorly spaced. the bottom rack is shallow so dinner plates won't allow the spray arm to spin unless they are slanted. upper rack is so small that insulated tall drink cup (yeti) won't fit. the flextray is 100% useless making the machine hard to load. there is no top sprayer so upside of items don't get clean. i hate it and would never ever buy it. i like that the door at the end of the cycle. again, i hate this machine and hope it breaks soon so i can dump it.

                Junk - Didn't even last 2 years.
purchased and installed in 07/19. noticed top rack wire part rusted 03/19 water wall belt broke 12/19. belt broke again, belt motor died, water pump died 12/22. can not find replacement parts. having to purchase another dishwasher 5/22 after having to hand wash for 6 months. another irritating thing about this washer is the rack tines do not line up with each other and trying to find ways to load it without bowls flipping over and filling with water is impossible.

Unreliable Not Worth it, Stay Away from Samsung
this was an amazing dishwasher for the first six months that it worked. it started having very odd control issues, sometimes the buttons would stop working, sometimes it would not start properly, sometimes it would show error codes that are not real error codes so the technicians could not diagnose the machine. it then stopped working into one year, out of the warranty, this is a dishwasher, it should last atleast five years so the warranty period is too short.

Worst quality appliance I have ever seen
I have owned many appliances in my life which have lasted me many years, this is the fourth dishwasher that I have purchased. The unit with in the first year was experiencing problems with internal components breaking off on their own. Many days I would open up the dishwasher to find pieces of its internal components in my plates and cups. Clearly the materials used were not designed to be water resistent and corrosion proof. First it was the top rack that started disintegrating, then the soap door (feel off on its own), followed by several other small components, the drain came loose on its own and today the spray arms was lying on the lower tray (fell off on its own). Here we are less than two years into the product life and the unit is not functioning. Spare yourself, Samsung generally makes good products, appliances ARE NOT ONE OF THEM.

                        DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK
bought this dishwasher along with fridge, stove and microwave in jan 2019. dishwasher does not work 18 months after purchase, of course after the warranties that cover these things expired. lower rack "waterfall" device does not work and does not clean anything on the lower rack. now the repair is going to cost more than 1/2 the cost of a new one. no way.. not going to fix this junk just to have it break down again. we had a different dishwasher for 15 years and it worked without any issues, but remodeled our kitchen and went with all the same brand appliances because we thought they had good quality products.. nope.. so we are going back to my old brand dishwasher. do not buy.

i purchased in may 2018 within 3 months i started getting a lc leak detection code. best buy scheduled a warranty fix with samsung to come out and fix it, fast forward to january 2021 and the code is back. there is no leak nor has their ever been one. samsung puts be in touch with company that tells me it will be $100 for them to diagnosis the system, then a labor and parts charge. for a $1000 dishwasher shouldn’t have the same issue twice in less than 3 years then be exoected to service if for 20% of what it cost.

this worked well for first 12 months. from that point onwards it has been a downhill disappointing experience. at first the dishes in the lower rack won't clean sporadically. eventually it stopped cleaning lower rack dishes completely. it looks like the lower water wall arm is not functioning at all. given the covid situation i am refraining from getting any service help and was trying to make the best out of what's functioning. however; from last several days the cycle would abruptly come to a stop. it was sporadic again for last several days. since last couple of days its happening with every cycle. the concept and idea is great. when this dishwasher was functioning it worked well. however; this is not built for the long haul. extremely poor quality
