Living in a farm, we always need gas and gas containers of various sizes and especially 5 gallon. Whereas this one definitely fits the bill I found the nozzle faulty in design. You have to use both hands to release the gas and fill while keeping stabilized. It was a but more difficult to use for me. Hubby wasn't impressed either. I'm not sure I'd recommend. I am very happy with the Scepter 5 gallon smart control gasoline container. It's so easy to fill and pour. I have definitely noticed less spills versus a standard gas can. The nozzle is excellent and easy to control. This is perfect for filling lawn mowers with gasoline and just to have on hand for any gasoline needs. I highly recommend it! This 5 gallon gas can took me a few minutes to figure out, even after thoroughly reading the instructions. Removing the cap was slightly difficult, mostly because I find hard to get a good grip near the "teeth" of the spout. Once open, I did have to fill the can a bit more slowly due to the flame mitigation device. I do wish the can had a handle on the side opposite the nozzle, but I am able to prop it against my leg while pouring. The buttons were not difficult for me to push or to hold, but it took me a while to figure out what exactly I needed to do to get the fuel to be dispensed. For a large can like this, I wish it were easier to maneuver. On the other hand, I appreciate the safety features on a can that will have more fuel in it while in storage. This fuel tanks lets me control the flow amount of fuel I need and has lots of safety features. It has a flame mitigation in the opening of the can which helps reduce the chance of a fire or explosion. Inside the tank it looks like a white mesh plastic item. To prevent spills it has a press down tab which removes the fuel tanks cap and it has a fuel tank lid at the tip of the nozzle. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was very excited to get this gas can in hopes that it was going to be one of the best gas cans I have ever owned. Unfortunately this is not the case with this one, the concept is awesome; however, the design is awful. there are so many steps to try to get the gas to pour out and I have yet to find a way to not have it spill. The lever you have to pull and push is so hard to actually move and it doesn't have a vent so the flow is super slow; which makes this can almost impossible to use if you are not superman and have three hands. This gas can is actually more work than the normal gas cans. I honestly would not recommend this gas can, unless you are purchasing one for its looks and not functionality. Gas cans always make me a bit uncomfortable. When I first got the Scepter SmartControl gas container, I had no idea how to use it. Thankfully, they supply several videos on their website to help answer all questions, so you can use the gas container safely! I feel completely safe using this gas container. After watching the supplied videos I am totally confident. The container is a great size, easy to use handle. The nozzle works great, and the flame mitigation device is the absolute best part! Scepter not only brought convenience, but also added safety with this gasoline container. First of all, the large 5 gallon volume is super convenient. Secondly, the child-safety and fire mitigating features are an added bonus. Takes a few minutes to get accustomed to the safety features, but well worth it! It is made of a durable plastic which allows for an easy lightweight grip and mess-free filling. This scepter red 5 gallon smart control gas can is a heavy duty very durable plastic gas can. Easy to open easy to use. The spout is spill proof. No gas leaks out of this can. My husband is a property manager and does some of the landscaping. This gas can holds plenty of gas for all of his equipment like the leaf blower and portable power equipment and the lawnmower. It has the safety feature where it is near impossible to spill the gas. It fits great in his bed of his truck and is very durable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Unless you like your hands smelling like gas all day and spilling gas both on filling it up and pouring it out, do not buy.
First of all, the mesh cover on the inside of the tank doesn't work well with gas nozzles at the pump. The pump's out shut off will trigger, causing a start and stop and splash out when you fill it up -- even when you push the nozzle all the way to bottom of the mesh as the instructions state.
But the real fun happens when you try to pour the gas. The push system is difficult to use, but the o-ring after just 4-5 uses has already failed. See the picture of the twisted, worthless part, after trying to reseat it, I just gave up.
Now I have to figure out how to pour out the 4.5 gallons left then I can throw this thing away.

Hello - Sorry to hear you have had difficulty with the SMART CONTROL fuel can. There is a screen in the opening of the fuel can which is a flame mitigation device (FMD) for consumer protection. Their inclusion in fuel containers is about to become law. Unfortunately, there are people who misuse fuel and can end up severely injured. Our goal is the safety of our customers, so we’ve added one ahead of the pending regulations. We understand that filling the containers can take a bit longer, but this does add an extra layer of protection for consumers who don’t handle fuel responsibly. . Gas and diesel pumps are different. The FMD contains two internal ledges that the pump must rest on when filling depending on your fuel type. Diesel pumps rest on the first ledge, and gasoline pumps must be inserted to reach the second ledge.
