First question I asked was "can I return if they sound cheap? I was told that if i bought them I wouldn't be returning them. These JBL Sengled pulse speaker lamps are fantastic. If you have a couple of table lamps that use a standard bulb base, you just screw in the new lamps then download the the app to your android or Ipad / iphone and voila you have great sound and no additional wiring. Best of all, you can set the mood by dimming the lighting with the same app. This pair of speaker lamps solved a few issues around my home. Koddos to Sengled.

These work great. I have them in two pendant fixtures above my kitchen island. You have to focus on the source to figure out where the sound is coming from. I will admit that you should pair them with a subwoofer to give it more bass. You can purchase the adapter and an inexpensive sub and they work wonderfully. Anyone who has seen these in my kitchen have been impressed. I will buy more satellites as needed in the future.

  • Cool gadget but a buggy app!

The installation of these bulbs does not require anything special. There is an app for both apple and android phones which is used to control these. I really liked the brightness control feature on this and the fact that I can turn the lights off right from my bed (that's priceless). The lights are very bright and do not consume a ton of power like the conventional bulbs. The speakers on this are decent which can be expected from JBL. They are fairly loud and have a satisfactory soundstage. The only thing I did not like about these is that the bulbs do not automatically connect to the phone once you are out of range. This is a great gadget and I hope they improve the app with an update.

Pros Eco-Friendly, Great Sound Quality, Nice Design

  • Love them already

Bought them earlier today and have been listening ever since. Love them already lol. Just bought the starter 2 pack but will be replacing the rest of my recessed lights tomorrow. Easy as screwing in a light bulb, downloading an app and turning Bluetooth on. A lot better sound quality than I was expecting.

  • Interesting Product. Lacking in delivery.

Negatives: The sound output lacks high & lows, resulting in a muffled sound, which only gets worse the further you are from the bulb. So install right above or facing the area you plan to inhabit. The app often needs to reestablish a connection to the bulbs, resulting in a 1-2minutes load time. The bulbs do not remember your favorite brightness setting. After being turned on/off, they reset to 100%. The app does not have geocode triggers. The bulbs can sometimes pick up interference and produce a high pitched whistle. The initial pairing to the master bulb was a little tricky and did not coincide with directions in the box. (The pairing code on bulb didn't work, you need to scan the pairing code from the box) Positives: It is a dimmable 2700k bulb that also happens to be a speaker.

Pros Great Dimming Cons poor sound quality, slow application

  • Terrible Product and Customer Service
  • December 02, 2015

Do not waste your money. We were told 7 satellites could connect to one master bulb. We followed installation instructions and tried many configurations and only three bulbs would connect. I tried to call customer service 8 times during their listed business hours as stated on their phone recording anf no on ever picked up. All 8 went back. They need to work on the product and support to justify the price.

  • Doesn't live up

After finding out about this product online I thought, what a great idea! I mean, plug in a bulb (or a few) and suddenly your room fills with music. Well, not quite. The bulbs are quite large. In fact, of the 10 lamps we have in out home I wasn't able to fit the bulb onto a single one. Well, unless you remove the lamp shade. So, this product will not work on 99% of lamps that have a shade. Second, the range from the master to the satellite is horrible. Not sure what they advertise but I live in a ranch home and couldn't get the range past about 18 feet. Forget about putting one outside on a porch. There is 0 range at that point. Quite shocking. Also, when the signal is lost (happened a few times) the time it takes for your phone to locate the bulbs again is quite annoying. Sometimes your are having to start all over and let the app re-sync the bulbs. Lastly. the sound. Not great but not bad. Just average. I guess what one would expect from a bulb speaker. It's too bad. Great idea but poorly executed design.

These are white-only bulbs. I bought these thinking for $150 they would be full RGB color bulbs. Returned to store, not interested in boring white bulbs with speakers, I can just buy a Bluetooth speaker for the room I wanted to install them in.
