I have been using these 3/4 in. Shark bite push to connect hot water heater connectors for quite some time. Several years! These connectors make the project of replacing a hot water heater an extremely easy task. You have to make sure that you get the correct length for your connector because if it is to long it will be hard to connect without crimping the line. Very good product.

I'm busy replacing the PVC pipes that connect to my water heater with PEX piping. These SharkBite hose assemblies make for a quick and easy connection to my new PEX ready water distribution manifold. Water heaters come standard with 3/4 inch MIP fittings so the FIP connector on the SharkBite screws on with no problems. The other end of the SharkBite hose has a Push-Fit connector for my PEX pipe. It will also accept copper or PVC pipe.

Like many others, i started getting black rubber flecks in the bath tubs. Quick searched online all pointed to shark bite flexable supply line. I replced it immediately, and the flecks stopped immediately too. Waste of time and money!

Hello, thanks for the feedback on the SharkBite Water Heater Connector. We understand your frustration with the black particles breaking down in your system. We have reengineered the rubber inside the connectors and any connectors made after 2014 should not have this issue. We have also come out with connectors that do not have rubber on the inside (The Home Depot # 205545583). Please let our Customer Service Team know if there is anything we can do for you to improve your experience. They can be reached Monday through Friday at 1-877-700-4242. SharkBiteCashAcme

AS SHARKBITE SAYS, DO NOT USE ON WATER WITH CHLORINE OR CHLORIDES. IF YOU HAVE MUNICIPAL WATER, YOU HAVE CHLORIDES IN YOUR WATER, PERIOD. RUBBER DEGRADES OVER TIME, PERIOD. MUCH, MUCH FASTER WITH CHLORIDES. HOT WATER TURNS THE RUBBER LINER INTO BLACK SPECKS AND GOO IN YOUR HOT WATER EVEN FASTER!!! NOT SUITABLE FOR DRINKING WATER SUPPLIES UNLESS REPLACED EVERY TWO YEARS OR LESS. NEARLY LOST THE SALE OF OUR HOUSE DUE TO THE BLACK 'stuff' IN OUR WATER DURING THE INSPECTION. CHANGED TO (SHARKBITE UNFORTUNATELY AS WELL) CORRUGATED STAINLESS STEEL AND NO MORE PROBLEMS. AVOID RUBBER LINED HOSES OF ANY KIND IN YOUR MUNICIPAL WATER - ESPECIALLY HOT WATER OR IF YOU DON'T MIND REPLACING EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS MIN.

Hello, we are sorry for the poor experience you have had with the SharkBite Water Heater Connector. We are aware of the issue with the rubber breaking down in Water Heater Connectors in areas with hard water. In 2014, we redesigned the rubber in the Water Heater Connectors as well as came out with the corrugated connecters that do not contain rubber, as you mentioned. Newer connectors should not have this issue. We would be happy to talk to you regarding your situation and help provide a solution. Please reach out to our Customer Service Team at 1-877-700-4242 so we can assist. SharkBiteCashAcme

Still amazed how these connectors work and don’t leak! Kudos to the inventor or SharkBite... wish I would have thought of that great idea. Made replacement of water heater a breeze.
