As far as I can tell, it's working as intended. The installation was very simple, and they're very flexible. When my cousin (a professional plumber) came to install a water softener yesterday, I asked him about them, and he said he likes them, as long as they are well-seated.

I had one of those nightmare weekends where I had an unplanned water heater installation. I hate to sweat solder and these SharkBite connectors make water connections a breeze. The person that invented the ShartBite connectors is a genius! The braided stainless steel water heater connector is the way to go as it gives you a lot of flexibility in making the connections. I have 3/4" copper pipe and cut the pipe to the old water heater. I set the new water in place and made the water line connections using the ShartBite connectors. It was so simple. No leaks. I had hot water in no time. Thank you SharkBite and also to Home Depot for carrying their product.

Same as several other reviewers. Installed 24” flex braided sharkbite on hot side of water heater about 2 yrs ago. For past 6 months been seeing black rubber soft oily particles in tub, sink, new washer. Been chasing all faucets and possible sources and then remebered this item. Replaced today with solid version and inspected inside of old hose. Filled with black residue we were seeing. Rest of source to that spot is pex so no rubber and its before the heater. Hate to think we have been drinking this stuff!!!

I'm a regular homeowner and have installed many of these Sharkbite push-to-connect plumbing products over several years and they are great. They work flawlessly when used with a standard pipe cutter tool on supply pipes and are super-easy to install, requiring no other tools. Never had a leak, whereas with sweating & soldering pipes, or using flared piping with screw nuts, leaks were almost expected on the first pass. Also, if there's an issue (like you goofed a pipe cut length), it's easy to uninstall these and reinstall them after fixing the problem and they still don't leak. These will put common plumbing jobs back in the hands of homeownwers rather than over-priced plumbers.

When my water heater broke so did everything else associated with it. With almost no prior plumbing experience I headed down to my local store for help with the project. The sharkbite connectors and hoses the plumbing expert suggested were worth every penny making my job easier and more secure. I'm not worried about my welds and I know that these will last for a long while and when it comes time to replace them the job will be quick and painless. I will use these with confidence for every future project I can.

This is one slick product, it saved me from calling a plumber to solder a new connection for the hotwater valve. I simply cut the coper pipe that did not match the new hot water heater, pressed on this push fit connector and DONE.

  • I just called Sharkbite and Customer Service was as expected ... lousy
  • July 25, 2016

I have the these lines on a water heater installed in Jan 2013. Thankfully I read these reviews, otherwise, I would never have figured out the cause of this problem. Who would expect these lines that are only 2.5 years old to start disintegrating in Delray Beach, FL. I just replaced them over the weekend and called customer service this morning. They did exactly what I anticipated which is to tell me that it is my problem to address. Evidently, they don't stand behind their overpriced and inferior products, but that should not come as a surprise in this day and age. Simple install but very poor quality!!

Pros Easy to Install Cons very poor quality, expensive
