Solved my railing attachment problem
This worked great. I attached a railing elbow onto the Newell post and had fine results. I did have to find a very thin 1/2" crescent wrench to fit into the 1" diameter hole I drilled. The 1/2" oak plug they gave with the item will not work since there is no way to turn the nut and tighten it in that size hole. Check out the picture.

Very solid and well made. I found these to be very easy to work with and they worked perfectly to resolve the issue I was dealing with. Good choice.

Not very easy to tighten that nut in that small hole. There are much better fasteners, such as zipbolt.

Rail bolts are great.. but they don't do much good if Home Depot doesn't carry the appropriate wrenches/tools to install them.

Very hard, almost impossible to tighten the hardware inside of...
Very hard, almost impossible to tighten the hardware inside of a 1" hole. There are special wrenches sold to tighten this hardware and home depot should offer it. Also the directions are kind of confusing and misleading.

Follow the instructions on YouTube and package. There’s no way you can stick your finger in there and turned that nut and then also they showed him stick in a open in wrench size of the nut does not fit.

Hi Decent, these rail bolts will work on angle/miters but it's tricky to get right, but it can be done. We hope you were able to find a workable solution.

So you had to buy the rail bolt kit to get the plug you needed? There should be wood plugs in various sizes in the Millwork aisle, or available online at homedepot.com.

Does the job. I would say that it is pretty difficult to get the nut on the bolt even with the specialty tool. I would think it is impossible without that tool.
