Hi Gigi, we suggest testing stains on scrap or extra pieces of millwork, if possible. If your stairs were made using a factory finish (like pre-finished flooring), there is a lot of trail and error required to get that color and finish to match. The folks in the Paint Department can share their expertise in how best to do that. If you have questions or need more information, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.
