We ordered this stair tread to use as a shelf for my pot rack. We cut it to size and it works great and looks beautiful!

Requires a lot of sanding to remove planer marks and other imperfections. Once done, it does look really good! Do not expect to be able to finish and install without spending the time to prepare the surfaces properly.

The rest of the house is a vinyl flooring that looks like hickory, so I got these to match -- and it looks beautfiul. Lots of natural variation. Didn't stain any of the retreads, just a few coats of clear polyurethane. To match the retreads I used the vinyl flooring as the stair risers, and they matched so well. The wood retreads are better quality and look far nicer than any vinyl retreads I could find for my flooring, and a more cost effective option too. For anyone curious the vinyl flooring I used was Chattanooga Hickory from WeShipFloors.

Only 1 out of 15 had minor damage. They all stained perfectly.

Great quality. Treads are sturdy and rigid and wood has beautiful grain. Be aware that hickory is a harder wood than what you're probably used to (I learned the hard way) so staining these will take more time and patience than normal. If you want something easier to stain go with the oak version of these.

The product worked perfectly. We cut to size and stained to match our hardwood floors - looks great! So happy to have found this product - our staircase looks brand new!

The stair treads are really nice and very consistent. nice finish and not warping. I recommend using a wood conditioner to raise the grain and sand it really well with a #220 sand paper. Then you can stain and use polyurethane to finish. Sand lightly between every coats. It'll be beautiful.

We trimmed the 11-1/2 width to fit an existing shallow riser to a bathtub, finished with stain and spar varnish with sand added to the final coat. The grain is quite attractive, and the install looks beautiful.

I ordered 16 and had to return 4 because of rough spots, but they picked them up free of charge and sent me replacements. They are turning out beautiful.

Our new stairs look great! We changed our stairs from carpeted to wood during a flooring makeover on the lower level of our house. We decided on unfinished Hickory treads from Stairtek so we could match the new wood floors. The Hickory treads took stain and matte finish nicely. I ordered 15 treads, the exact number I needed. Everyone was perfect. No cracks or flaws in any of them. They cut cleanly with no splintering. My only regret is we decided to go with Oak risers, which I already had, and didn't order Hickory risers along with the treads. Overall we are very pleased with how the project turned out. Would definitely use Stairtek treads again.

These stair retreads are excellent hardwood; absolutely beautiful and extremely durable. They took the stain wonderfully and turned out great! I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to update their stairwell.

We decided to remove the carpet from our stairs and put a wood facing-product over the treads. We looked at several different options but found that this one best met our needs. The product was well finished and smooth; very easy to lightly sand and stain. Once we stained and finished with tung oil, the risers and treads were very easy to put into place with construction adhesive and finish nails. We chose hickory because it is a hard wood. We wanted a product that would stand up to having dogs go up & down the stairs. We are very pleased with the outcome and would definitely recommend this product to others. Note: You do need some carpentry skills to measure, cut and fit the treads and risers to the existing stairs. However, once cut, putting the treads and risers in place is very easy.

These were perfect for the application. A bit of sanding, and they were ready to stain and varnish. This is Hickory, and they are exceptionally hard.

One stair, splinter pulled out from the center, and one stair tack broke.
