This is the second swanstone shower base I purchased. Its high quality and the finish does not wear off like cheaper brands, but it costs $$$. You get what you pay for.

If I had seen the shower pan prior to purchasing I probably would not have bought it. The 40 lb weight should have been a clue it is not very heavy duty the thickness is not what I want. That said it is a good looking well made pan it fit properly and was easy to install.

So far so good. Base looks solid. Hope it lasts. Just an fyi. While the picture shows a chrome drain cover the description states the drain is "of the same color"...i.e. bisque in this case. I wish this was clearer, which is why I am deducting 1 star. Hope the picture is updated to reflect what is truly in the box. There are inexpensive drain covers of the finish of your choice though I have not tried these yet.

Do not buy the thin foam backed shower floor since they do not last. This product was built to last and looks great.

Pros Durable, High Quality, Looks Great, Good Size & Weight

  • Shower base
  • November 22, 2012

It's basically a solid plastic shower base. I received an acrylic one before this but it was cracked so I got this one since the other was out of stock. When I compare the two, the other one was over 100 more but felt like it was a much higher quality. This one is light weight which makes me question its durability but it's probably fine. It's like those plastic shower walls they sell here and comes with a cheap plastic drain cover (not the metal one shown in the picture). I think I'll keep it but if you're doing a quality bathroom, this one might not be the best. The major pro is that you don't have to worry about the surface like you have to with the acrylic ones. Also, the floor has a raised pattern that looks cheap up close (from 4 ft away, the entire base looks okay but up close, you can tell it's average quality at best).

Good quality pan. We would have used it if it had been whiter to match our Kohler Choreograph shower panels.

It was perfect. Nice and solid, and just what we wanted. Nothing fancy. But not one of those cheap shower pans that feel flimsy.

I'm a do-it-yourselfer and didn't have any problems installing this. I choose this one even though it was more expensive and I'm happy I did. I used this to replace a shower that cracked in my pre-manufactured home. If you use swan walls, they have to be cut to fit inside the flange.

This product is very sturdy and works great in our master shower. We previously had one that was partially styrofoam and it cracked in just 2 years. This is solid construction and does not feel like it's going to move at all.

Pros Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Use, Sturdy, Easy to Install, Looks Great, Nice Design
