No Truck? No Problem! I ordered this wood online and had it delivered to my house. It looks as good as the pictures. I also wondered if it would be in good shape after going from CA to MD. All packages were double wrapped in stretch wrap and double wrapped in cardboard. My project needed 8 footers of 1x2, 1x3, and 1x8. So this same review is on the other items. I don’t have a planer, or table saw, just a miter saw to cut to length, I was able to build a great mantle thanks to the nice folks at Swaner providing great material.

No Truck? No Problem! I ordered this wood online and had it delivered to my house. It looks as good as the pictures. I also wondered if it would be in good shape after going from CA to MD. The boards in the picture are far darker.
This wood is actually NOT Mahogany, but from considered to be a substitute for Honduran Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), otherwise known as “Genuine Mahogany.”
Also these boards are 11.25" and NOT the 12" advertised.
$100 a board for NOT mahogany and NOT the 12" advertised.
Not happy.

We are sorry you are not pleased with your purchase. Since this is a natural product the color will vary from board to board. It is Khaya Ivorensis, commonly referred to as African Mahogany which is what we put in the description. The nominal size is 1x12 but under the specs the actual size of .75” x 11.25” is listed. We are sorry for the confusion.

In general not bad, I was able to complete my project. One of the two boards was much better than the other, the first being straight and clear, the other had an annoying minor twist mid-board luckily my project required shorter length parts so I was able to work around it. Allways order more than you need just for such occasions. Both boards had a considerable amount of snipe from the planer and non uniform width rips, neither of which was a show stopper but at the price I guess I expected better.
Very pleased with the product. It was well packaged and ready for use.

3 of 4 boards were good. 4th had surface planer or sander chatter at both ends that rendered them unusable beyond 6’.
