  • TOTO Ultramax HET TOILET

Reviewing a toilet is not quite the same as reviewing a car, but I will give it my best shot! I bought two of these toilets. They are somewhat pricey, but in my opinion they are worth every penny! Without going any further, I will say I am 100% satisfied with the product. For those that like finer details, I will elaborate. First of all, the lines of this one piece fixture is sleek. Smooth lines. A very stylish 'throne'. The tank is very compact. It does not look like it holds much water. Being a HET model, I found this to be very true. This is not just another pretty toilet. It is quite efficient! When you click the flusher, water comes out from two points on the upper rim of the bowl. The fixture very quickly removes the waste, and 24 seconds later it is refilled and ready to go again! Amazing! It is relatively quiet. A huge plus with this model is it COMES with the soft close seat. MANY models of the TOTO do not come with the seat! Odd. This toilet uses a special treated surface that TOTO calls SANAGLOSS. It is supposed to work sort of like your non-stick frying pan. All I can say is it works. In the fine print of the manual it says to never use bleach or harsh abrasives. My suggestion to TOTO Company is to put that in HUGE PRINT on a sticker attached to the toilet, because the special coating will be ruined if the owner uses COMET. Summary: the toilet is well worth the money!

I waited several months to review this to get some run time on it. Easy to install one piece without a separate tank. I had a plumber install it to make sure wax ring and base sealed without movement on limestone floor. On both installations the fill valve jumped and sputtered and the plumber pulled them out to swap a new fluidmaster ProSeries. He noted he had given feedback to Toto on these. When I called Toto tech support they told me their design is specific to the fill/flush mechanism and it will change the bowl level. I replaced the Toto fill valve 10 minute labor and it works great. I think the units have to equalize and lubricate the rubber parts with water after 5 flushes it works as it should, so give it a chance before meddling with it. I like the patented CeFiontect surface self cleaning flush, makes this the super particle collider of flush toilets. Unlike other water efficient products, this actually works.

Our plumber recommended the Toto brand to replace our current toilet that was beyond repair. We went to several plumbing stores in our area and were so overwhelmed by the numerous amount of toilets to choose from. We decided to research on the Toto website and was visually pleased with the simple lines of this model. No one carried it in their stores. Home Depot could order it for us, and if we shipped it to the store for pickup we wouldn’t be charged a shipping fee. The cost of the toilet was priced higher than Home Depot at all stores that we visited, and would charge us additional shipping charges no matter where we shipped it. We went with Home Depot, buying somewhat sight unseen. Our plumber has installed it and we can’t be happier. We love the simplicity of the toilet, that it uses next to no water, the quietness of the flush, the height of the toilet, actually we love everything about it. Also, kudos to Home Depot for their customer service.

Great product! Worth the cost! No clogs! I tried the Kohler Santa Rosa toilet returned it because of the mis-shaped front mfg defect. Design suggestions for Toto.No top slope lid; this is where you want the air freshener. I would reduce the totals weight from 110 to 100lbs having curve at base.

This is my first low-flow toilet and I am entirely pleased so far (10 days). It flushes fast and with considerable force. It is not particularly quiet but that is not a concern at my house. After one particularly big load it was unable to fill the bowl back up and did not work well until I filled the bowl manually. I decided this is a limitation that results from reducing the amount of water used. I have not had any issues since, and I really like not using so much water. There was a lot of 'getting up' to do with the old toilet; this one is taller which I like in general. At 5'6" though I would be more comfortable if it was about 1/2 inch shorter. The size of the pool is smaller than the old toilet and I thought this might be a problem but it is fine. The water surface is further away too which I like as well. If I had it to do again I would wait for delivery again but I might go for the one with a skirt that makes it easier to clean.

Works great. With adjustment, it will clear pretty much everything. Note: you'll have to adjust the tank fill level a bit higher than factory setting, which was at the lowest. Then it works great.

I really like this toilet, flushes really well and I have tried to clog it up just to see how well it flushes. I think I used nearly a half roll of toilet paper once and it worked like a champ. There are times that it leaves a bit of skid marks but I've read that's a bit common for toilets that are only 1.28 gpf, unfortunately. And as I'm in Texas where all new toilets must be 1.28 gpf..... But even so, extremely easy to clean - just a quick wipe and it was gone. The only real disappointment is the soft-close lid. There is too much wiggle in the joint so when you sit on the seat it moves a bit side-to-side. Not a lot but noticeable. I had a fairly cheap plastic soft-close on my old toilet and it didn't move at all when you sat on it. I called Toto and they sent me a replacement lid, which actually wiggled more than the first one. So I put the first one back on. Thinking about just replacing it with an after-market soft-close lid.
