2 mil thickness makes it a bit harder to install but works well once applied.
I’ve used a number of carpet protection products like this in the past for remodel activities. My favorite is a 3 mil product by protective products. The extra 50% thickness makes it easier to install. Don’t get me wrong any of these stick backed plastic films can be frustrating. It wants to stick to itself and can be hard to get it to leave the roll. This product is even more difficult than others to get it down. But once on the stairs it worked well and held up to workers boots.
This product is significantly cheaper than the thicker stuff so that makes it worth the extra effort.
About my rating:
5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+).
4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)
3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).
2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)
1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

Trimaco's 2 mil Carpet Film did the job protecting our carpet. Suggest having a helper when laying it as it's very clingy and sticks to itself better than it does to carpet. Used it while repainting some walls in the living room. Once down, we used the edge to anchor a standard drop cloth for extra protection (being a messy painter, the 2 foot width didn't give enough of a safety zone). Worked well and the protection didn't move while painting. Nice and durable at 2 mils thick.
The roll is "sticky side out," which actually makes laying it easier. Will use the extra for either more painting or delivery guys tramping through the house; whichever comes first.
I did not try it on laminate or wood flooring; concerned it may damage the finish.

THe blue edge did not peal properly and you know how a roll of platic wrap is when its not peeling right, well this was it in a larger version, its all stuck to itslf and I tossed it out. Instead of the blue edge peeling up it flaked and came off

If you have a remodeling project and need to protect your carpet this product is GREAT! I was remodeling one of my bedrooms and needed to protect the carpet so I took a chance and covered it with this film, all I can say is WOW! I rolled my sheetrock lift all over it, textured the walls, and painted the room over a period of three weeks and this stuff never peeled up and protected the carpet and never ripped or tore. When the project was done it removed easily and left no sticky residue. I highly recommend this stuff for your next remodel!

Super-sticky protective carpet film (for certain carpets, not wool, not wood)
Note: I received the “Easy Mask 24 in. x 50 ft. 2-mil Protective Film for Carpets”, Model # 62450/6, free from Home Depot’s “Seeds” program. Home Depot only asked that I provide an honest review.
This is great for protecting your carpet from paint spills or dirty shoes. It’s perfect for open-house showings, etc…. Once you get it unrolled. It’s REALLY sticky and hard to even find the seam to begin unrolling it. The manufacturer thoughtfully adds a thin strip of blue tape to help you find it, but it’s not exactly on the edge. Be patient, have good light (and good eyesight) and you’ll eventually find it.
Once you do, unroll and it STICKS. No chance of it slipping and sliding like a drop cloth! But be careful - it is NOT recommended for wool carpets (only synthetic) or wood floors. The instructions also recommend against leaving it in place for more than 45 days - they don’t say what could happen (and I didn’t try it) but I suspect it could leave sticky residue that will attract dirt and be impossible to remove.
If you’re looking for something more temporary/removable/reusable, consider one of Trimaco’s other products, the “Trimaco 2 ft. x 50 ft. One Tuff Floor Protector”, Model # 90050.
But if you need something that will absolutely say in place, no matter what, the film is it.
Super sticky, stays in place, will not slip or slide
Really protects the carpet
Difficult to unroll
Not really reusable
Not suitable for all carpets
May leave sticky residue if you’re not careful
Perfect when the carpet has to be protected for a short time, and when it’s not acceptable for the covering to slip or move. But this functionality comes at a price - it’s several times more expensive than the same-sized roll of “One Tuff Floor Protector”, so choose wisely!
This is some great stuff, works well in protecting carpets, protects better than a drop cloth as it wont move away from what its protecting. Now when I paint a room I roll this out around the walls using it as masking and drop cloth, In the middle I still throw a tarp, but this is easier and better than having to worry you pulled the drop cloth away with your feet. Also works great to create a pathway through a customers house keeping all your employee footprints to themselves... it applies easily, Just peel a little off,, flatten it out with your palm, then tautly pull the roll along where you want to protect.. When we got hit with hurricane katrina here in Jersey I used this for several of my customers on their plate glass windows instead of duct tape, one man can cover an entire store, inside and out in a few hours, Fortunately we didnt get hit hard enough here to find out how well it worked.
Be careful when storing your tape, Always peel an 1 1/2 extra off to fold over as a starting tab for next time, and dont bang or nick the edges as that will cause tears when your applying it again..
Great product at a good price,,,definitely worth the money

This product did was it was intended to do. It protected our carpets very well. We had it down for a week and it didn't leave residue and it came up easily. It is very sticky and really is a two man job to get it down. If you do stairs, start at the bottom and work your way up. You can also overlap easily and it will still stick. Overall it was a great product to use and the width covered a nice area.
