Bought these because the smaller ones would twist off every time. These twist off every time too. I’m drilling the appropriate diameter hole at least a half inch deeper than the screw is long. I tried reeming out the hole too but didn’t make a difference. As soon as the threads catch, these screws shear off. I switched to the hammer-in expansion anchors and those produced a solid anchoring effect. Was putting these in old concrete floor from 1975, trying to anchor base plate for a wall.

Easy to install, recomend purchase

Wanted to make sure the hose reel would be secure and these anchors were perfect.

Very easy to install after drilling with proper masonry bit to secure the 4x4 tie. Hasn't budged and is working well.

Worked great securing my pergola hardware to our concrete pad. Very heavy duty. Time will tell but we are currently happy with the product.

That I can sheer cement anchors with my bare hands! Hulk smash. How the heck am I gonna get these out? This should be real fun. Pure garbage. All sheered at same spot. 3/8 are good...somehow 16th of an inch makes all the difference.

I didn’t get to use them so I give them 4 stars because they look strong solid. Made in the US.

These tapcons worked perfectly for my project! I used them to mount a baseboard for a 200lbs barn door.

These bolts, as well as every other Tapcon product I’ve used, aren’t worth your time. They will let you down! These particular anchors snapped off at the head and stripped the threads. Installed them exactly as specified by pre-drilling/cleaning the hole 1/2” deeper than anchor length. For an anchor that is suppose to have a 2700 pullout rating, I wouldn’t trust them to hold much more than their own weight

I like the ease of use for Tapcon masonry screws. A properly drilled hole and the screw not over tightened provides a secure bond. The only drawback is over tightening the anchor then you have a hole that is useless.

I purchase the Tapcon 3/8 in. x. 4in. Hex-washer because I used there product before for tie down anchors in concrete block. So when I needed to anchor the 3 in x 8in. angle iron for my new outdoor kitchen I knew this product would be reliable to finish the job!

Excellent product works well as rail anchors for porch railing .

See pic. Followed instructions and used the Tapcon masonry bit. Two sheared off while hand tightening. Left 2/3 of the screws in two of the holes in the concrete, which is near impossible to fix. Added hours to the work having to remove everything and redrill new position holes. Use this at your own risk.

Save time. A positive anchor to fasten our 4 x 4 posts to the cinder block wall, in order to hang our new gate.

These huge concrete anchors can hold virtually anything! Perfect for most masonry applications. I like these because it is easier to install than other types of anchors. They are rated for indoor and outdoor. If you need to install some wood framing on concrete, this is definitely the way to go. It gives you the confidence to mount anything on your walls when you use a high quality, durable anchor like this.

Tapcon 1/2 in. x 6 in. Hex-Washer-Head Large Diameter Concrete Anchors (2-Pack) review: Tapcon makes GREAT products for securing anything to concrete! I have used them before and they always get the job done. This set is, IMHO, BIG concrete screws! Wow, I have never seen a concrete screw this large. You will need a rotary hammer drill to drill a pilot hole into concrete. Then, you will be best served by am impact driver to slam these puppies in! Be sure to drill the pilot holes about a half inch deeper so that concrete residue falling into the hole does not prevent full insertion of the screw. Also, BE SURE to vacuum out the hole in the concrete after you drill the pilot hole - VERY important. Love Tapcon products! There ya go!

Tapcon 3/8 in. x 4 in. Hex-Washer-Head Large Diameter Concrete Anchors (2-Pack) review: Tapcon concrete screws are THE definitive screw to turn to when you are installing objects into concrete, brick or stone. You drill a hole a bit smaller than the width of the screw (be sure to drill at least one half inch more on your pilot hole for brick residue that will fall down when you screw) and then BE SURE to vacuum out the hole. Then, use an impact driver to drive the screw through your object and into the concrete. So easy if you follow those steps. There ya go!

Simple and well designed. These anchor bolts mean business. They are not just scaled up version of smaller ones, but have been carefully designed to anchor themselves into concrete. First thing to notice is the tip is not designed to drill its way into concrete, you have to drill a hole first and the packet tells you exactly what size masonry bit to use. For these ⅜” bolts one needs to use a ⅜” drill bit. The packaging goes on to also tell you that one will need a 9/16” driver to screw the bolt into the hole you drilled and the maximum torque of 50 ft. lbs. The threads on the end are slightly tapered so that the bolt can be started in the correctly sized hole. The underside of the head has small ‘flutes’ to prevent it from unscrewing. The 4” length is from the tip to the underside of the head. They suggest drilling the hole ½” deeper than the end will end up, i.e. 4 ½” less the thickness of whatever you are bolting down.

Love these anchors. Second time using them. This time I anchor gazebo to concrete patio. Holds very well. Only wished they came in black. Will paint top later

I gave this product four stars only because they are expensive. I bought a Tapcon bit, which worked well & has a hexagon shaft so my hammer drill worked well with it. I also have a DeWalt impact wrench, which also worked well. The only problem I had was in using a 12 point socket, which stripped a couple of the screw heads. Go with a six point socket. Finally, make sure you ream out the hole well or the screw will get stuck half way in. The 5/16 inch screw worked perfectly for mounting against bricks in the mortar joint.

We bought these to install a hose hanger on the side of our brick house..with a water filled hose is a bit of a heavy load. The anchors went through the mortar with no cracking. We have coiled and uncoiled the hose a number of times with the hanger staying put.

I used these screws to attach an aluminum-framed gazebo kit to my paver patio. The instructions on the package call for a 1/4" masonry drill bit; I used a DeWalt bit which worked just fine. I originally had some trouble getting these screws to drive all the way in - even with a 200 ft/lb. torque impact wrench (yeah you can break off the heads) - until I realized I needed to vacuum out the drilling dust from the holes first! I like that these can be removed later if we want to re-position our gazebo. Inside the package is a card with details of the screw's ratings. I was surprised by the very large numbers! 2,785 lbs. pullout and 3,045 lbs. shear strength! Yep! Three of these per leg should hold our little gazebo down just fine!

We got these Tapcons to fix a problem with a 2x4 wooden mudsill that had been pushed in by a tree that grew outside the garage and eventually got so big that the trunk started to push the garage wall inwards. After we removed the tree we still had a problem of the mudsill being out of alignment by about 1 1/4" so we needed something long and strong that would re-anchor it in place. After using a hydraulic bottle jack wedged with a 4x4 against our tractor's rear tire to get the mudsill pushed back into alignment, we installed the Tapcon to keep it securely back in place. Reading the Tapcon instructions, they recommend using an 3/8" ANSI drill bit however when I measured the tip on our 3/8" masonry drill bit, it was wider than the 3/8" diameter of the Tapcon bolt and I was concerned that the bolt would not grip if I used a 3/8" masonry bit. As an alternative, I used a 3/8" Lip & Spur wood bit to drill into the wood so I could get at the concrete pad below. I then used a 9/32" masonry bit to get to the necessary depth in the concrete and followed this up with a 5/16" masonry bit. If you're doing something like this, I also recommend having something available to blow the concrete dust out of the bottom of the hole otherwise the bolt won't go all the way in as the dust gets compressed in the bottom of the hole. We used a drinking straw on the end of our compressed air fitting however a can of compressed air would also do as long as you can get the air down to the bottom of the hole in the concrete with some type of directional nozzle. With the holes drilled and the concrete dust blown out, the Tapcon bolt was reasonably easy to screw in using a 1/2" socket and ratchet. I cinched it down snug with little effort and there was no sign that the grip in the hole wasn't strong. We also put some Tapcons in a dividing wall in the garage that only had nails into the concrete and after I mastered installing the first one, the next one took about 10 mins to drill and install from start to finish. According to the Tapcon brochure, at 2 1/2" of depth (about what you end up with when installing into concrete through a 2 x 4 wooden mudsill), the bolt has around 6,000 lbs of shear strength so it should be fine here in earthquake country.

The first box of ten only had eight. I had to go back for 2 more. But they worked fine
