The Company Store - Hypoallergenic RDS Certified Down Pillow, #1421. This standard size pillow was too flat for me and provided little neck support. I found myself trying to fluff it up during the night. I think it would be a good pillow for children. Wife review.
My review was I also agree the pillow felt good when I laid down but after 15 minutes the pillow went substantially flat. In the morning when my head was located on the pillow it was about inch thick. Next night it was fluffy again. I agree it would be okay for a child but not an adult.
Pros: Looks Great
Cons: Flimsy Quality, compressed to easily for an adult
Improved fiber technology brings this pillow one step closer to natural down feathers. Before I get too far with my review; a pillow is a highly subjective and very much a personal preference product. What works for me might be horrible for you. With that in mind I tried to evaluate the quality of the product as well as how much it worked for me.
When I first opened the package I did not notice that a good amount of the stuffing (poly fill) was not cleaned off the outside shell. The Chinese factory where it was produced did a poor job cleaning up after manufacturing and preparing it for the consumer. Consequently I left a trail of poly puff balls through the house, up the stairs, and into the bedroom. As I retraced my steps picking up fuzz balls I first thought it had a leak or torn shell. After close inspection I found the shell was not compromised just messy manufacturing. I also noticed the shell is fairly high quality; soft and supple.
I also examined the fill and it seems much finer texture (see photo) than other poly fill pillows I’ve purchased in the past. This gives the pillow a very soft support much more like you would expect from down feathers. The industry still has a way to go to match the feel of natural down feathers but they are getting closer.
For me I found the pillow soft as advertised but too overstuffed for my liking. Firm pillows are often too hard for me and if I side sleep I can awake with a sore ear from the pressure. I did not find this the case with this pillow. It is soft and gently cradles your head. But I am primarily a back sleeper and I found that my head sunk way down into the center of the pillow with the adjacent parts still way puffed up higher than my head…kinda gives you that drowning feeling. So just too much fill for me.
This pillow comes in at $30 which is not cheap but I would say a cut above the standard poly fill pillow. Still I probably would not purchase another.
About my rating:
5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+).
4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)
3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).
2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)
1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)
Perfect addition to our king size bed. This pillow is firm but its not a rock. Its a perfect addition for those that enjoy a variety of pillows like myself. What I enjoy the most is that it contorts to the shape that fits what you need. When you return the next day for a nap or to go back to bed, it is shaped back to its original state. The pillow stays nice and fresh. I would recommend it to anyone.
The pillow gets the job done. I enjoy different types of pillows. The medium down alternative is a nice fit. Its not to soft, its not to hard. I enjoy the fact that the material bounces right back into shape by the time I am ready for a nap or bed the next night. It holds up very well and it helps me maximize my sleeping to its best potential. To add my wife enjoys the pillow as well which is a huge plus because she is definitely picky when it comes to her bedding.
The Hypoallergenic LoftAIRE Firm Down Alternative Standard Pillow is a really good pillow. The build quality of the seams is spot on. The pillow itself is well filled and as advertised fill quality. I am using this for someone with allergies so the down alternative is a must. So far this is working well from them, and there has been no reaction. Overall very happy with this pillow.
What a pleasant surprise this was. Durable seams and stitching. The covering, very plush. The fill seems really high and the pillow seems overly stuffed. After sleeping with it a couple nights, it settled down a bit. We will see how the stuffing holds up six months from now.
Any quality pillow now days is not cheap. The price point of this pillow is in the right ballpark considering the quality.
Pros: Comfortable, Excellent Quality, Functional, High Quality of Material, Looks Great
