Improved fiber technology brings this pillow one step closer to natural down feathers. Before I get too far with my review; a pillow is a highly subjective and very much a personal preference product. What works for me might be horrible for you. With that in mind I tried to evaluate the quality of the product as well as how much it worked for me.
When I first opened the package I did not notice that a good amount of the stuffing (poly fill) was not cleaned off the outside shell. The Chinese factory where it was produced did a poor job cleaning up after manufacturing and preparing it for the consumer. Consequently I left a trail of poly puff balls through the house, up the stairs, and into the bedroom. As I retraced my steps picking up fuzz balls I first thought it had a leak or torn shell. After close inspection I found the shell was not compromised just messy manufacturing. I also noticed the shell is fairly high quality; soft and supple.
I also examined the fill and it seems much finer texture (see photo) than other poly fill pillows I’ve purchased in the past. This gives the pillow a very soft support much more like you would expect from down feathers. The industry still has a way to go to match the feel of natural down feathers but they are getting closer.
For me I found the pillow soft as advertised but too overstuffed for my liking. Firm pillows are often too hard for me and if I side sleep I can awake with a sore ear from the pressure. I did not find this the case with this pillow. It is soft and gently cradles your head. But I am primarily a back sleeper and I found that my head sunk way down into the center of the pillow with the adjacent parts still way puffed up higher than my head…kinda gives you that drowning feeling. So just too much fill for me.
This pillow comes in at $30 which is not cheap but I would say a cut above the standard poly fill pillow. Still I probably would not purchase another.
About my rating:
5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+).
4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)
3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).
2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)
1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)
Pros: fine fiber, quality shell
Cons: manufacture debris, too much fill
