The pipe was well packaged for shipping, including thread caps at each end. The threads were in good shape and threaded readily into the fittings.

useful in the garden
I had purchased some of these in the past to help me secure my Christmas spotlights and keep them above the ground. I hammer them halfway in with a rubber mallet, then slide a piece of pvc pipe over them, and insert the stake of the light into the top of the pvc. It kept them very secure. My recent purchase was to raise my lawn sprinkler heads off the ground so the landscaper could not hit them with the weed whacker and break them. I am very please with my idea, and this item.

    Very solid with excellent threads
This is one very solid pipe. Its 1 1/4 inch diameter. Super clean threads on both ends. The ends were protected with plastic caps and wrap during shipping. I got the pipe for leverage with wrenches, both socket and standard. The extra length provides a great deal of force. The pipe has a large enough opening for my larger wrenches and socket drivers to slide in the end easily with minimal play. This provides a nice long handle to get leverage. With this pipe as a lever I was able to remove a 30 year old awning. All the bolts and nuts came free with little force. The pipe is long so I may cut it in 2 sections of 24 inches and 18 inches. Was able to take the entire awning down in 2 hours. A real back saver.

    Well made
The Plumber’s choice 1.25” x 42” black steel pipe is threaded on each end and comes with end caps to protect the threading prior to use/install. The pipe seems well made and can be used in a variety of applications. I plan to use the 1.25” x 42” steel pipe as a cheater bar to provide additional leverage when removing stuck/rusty nuts and bolts. Overall, I am very happy with the black steel pipe.

    good value
The 42 inch galvanized pipe arrived in good condition. Plastic caps protected the threaded ends from transportation damage. The pipe was free of grease and cutting fluid, both inside and out. The threads are smooth and burr-free. I plan to use this pipe as extra leverage on those hard to loosen bolts. I would recommend the product from this manufacturer.

I picked this up to make a industrial looking shelf like in a home improvement show I watched. The piece is great quality and the threads came well protected. The project got postponed due to some emergency repairs that came up. The outside diameter Is 13/16. I like that they are light weight but feel very strong. I look forward to getting back to making the shelves.

I used these pipes as pipe clamps for my woodworking. I purchased the pipe clamp jaws from Home Depot and assembly was a snap. These clamps are easy to use and make glue-ups really easy. In addition to clamping the work-piece laterally, the pipes provide a good base to ensure the pieces stay flat while the glue sets. Great product and well worth the money. The only negative is that the pipes may rust over time.

I got these to create more long pipe clamps. I am confident they will work fine but I have not gotten around to getting the clamp part. Galvinized pipe is not usually recommended for pipe clamps but that is because of the jaw type used for 1/2 inch pipe clamps. It has jaws that may not bite without a swat. 3/4 pipe clamps use a different plate type stationary jaw that I am pretty sure will work fine with galvinized pipe.

The plumbers choice black pipe is a good pipe. The threads seem to be cut good and clean. I did not purchase the pipe for any kind of plumbing job. I purchased for building a removable railing around my 6x10 flat deck trailer. I cleaned the packing oil and surface rust off and cut to correct size and welded. Then I painted them with several coats of flat paint.

I don't see this pipe as pipe , I see it as a part for a pony pipe clamp. I'm a carpenter and clamping wood component together always is a challenge. Different jobs require different sizes when clamping parts together. I use pony clamps, they use threaded pipe with fittings attached to each end. Photos will explain. The persistent problem is today I only need a clamp That's 5 inches long. But tomorrow I need a clamp 4 foot long. The clamp fittings will close all the way down to 0 inches and open to the full length of the pipe. So if I have a 6 foot length of pipe but I am clamping a 6inch part I have 5 feet plus of pipe too much. My solution, shorter pieces of pipes flitted together.

I need to build a heavy duty stand for my garage, so I thought this steel pipe would be a good starting point. The description was a little confusing at first, since it says black steel pipe and then says galvanized. When it arrived it turned out to be the black steel finish which is what I wanted. The five pack is the way to go if you need that many since it will save you almost $15 over the individual price.

My wife wanted metal pipe shelves with wood so I ordered a bunch of these black metal pipes thinking I could build one for her easily. But I ran into immediate issues with the size. 3/8 is a bad size for finding pieces. I went to the local store, as well as other stores that aren't Home Depot and finding 3/8 was a total pain. Online at Home Depot I ran into the same issues. Some stuff couldn't be shipped and some didn't qualify for ship to store, which I love. So would I recommend this? Not in 3/8. These pipes are really nice, well made and solid and look great as shelving. But it's just too hard to get the pieces. Go with 1/2 instead of you must have black.

The Plumber's Choice black steel pipe is the perfect pipe to choose. the finish is smooth and clean. There tends to be some built up grease to clean off first. The ends are threaded to accept another pipe piece. I got these to make large bar clamps with. The pipes are straight and strong which make them perfect for wood working large material and pieces.

As far as pipes go, all five that I received are strong and straight with no dents. All five are consistent in size and measured out at 48" long. The pipes I got sure don't look like the ad picture. Much rougher finish, no shiny silver on the ends and rust spots. They're also kind of dirty. So okay, they're serviceable but will need work if you're planning on using them for decor projects. I wanted to use the 48" pipes outdoors but looks like that wouldn't be very good idea. My other idea was curtain rods. I have black curtain rings with clips that I wanted to use for sheers, but ring diameter is too small for most of my curtain rods. These pipes are a little long for that use but I can come up with something weird and wonderful to make it work. Only 3 of my pipes came with protective caps and those only one cap each on one end. Also came wrapped super tight in plastic wrap with lots of stickers. It was hard for me to remove all that stuff. The pipes are okay, functional for the most part. But if you're expecting a polished look you'll have to do the polishing.

These pipe packages would be best used for decorative purposes and projects. The price is a bit high for justification in any type of plumbing or prefabricated projects when compared to the price of standard pipe and preparations that would include. I would suggest using these for shelving, table legs, hanger bars or other things of that nature. Store availability seems to be an issue with these pre-threaded pipe lengths making them more attractive to hobby projects instead of commercial use.

I got these pipes to build things for our yard. I haven't built anything yet, but these pipes are very nice. The threads are smooth, with no rough edges, so no worries of cutting anyone. The size is nice as they are not as heavy as the larger diameter pipes. This will make the resulting creations easier to move. The length gives me plenty to work with, so I can make something tall if desired.

The Plumber's Choice 3/4 inch x 72 inch black steel pipe, galvanized. The Plumber's Choice steel pipes are made of the best quality steel material. These pipes are available in various sizes to fit all gas and air applications. In addition to all plumbing uses, these pipes are also great for DIY projects to build industrial furniture industrial shelves etc. You can use these for table legs, industrial retro wall mount iron pipe shelf. Give the rustic look for indoor and outdoor applications. For my purposes the expression, "You cannot have too many clamps" is why I acquired these. Every so often the need arises for clamping large carcasses and these are the answer!

The Plumber’s choice 3/8 inch x 60 inch black steel pipe is fairly heavy duty and manufactured mainly for pumping and air gas applications. The size of this pipe makes it a good size and durable for various projects in addition to plumbing. It is my intent to make a coat/hat rack by welding three of these pipes crossing, but vertical and to then add additional pegs for hats and coats for which I will affix end caps to the threaded ends of the pipe.

Excellent set of pipe - These pipes are my go-to clamping method in my custom cabinet woodshop and the 72" length gives me more flexibility without having to couple lengths together. The threads work well for the clamps I have (Bessey, Irwin, and Yost) and the pipes hold pressure very well. I've noticed some bend over the length of the pipe, but I'm not surprised with half inch and this has not been an issue for me; especially with offsetting clamping directions Very economical choice for clamping - hold great pressure, are durable, and work great

If you do a lot of plumbing and well work you must carry galvanized pipe. The 1” is perfect on the shallow well pump discharge side. Pumps run hot and plastic pipe can actually become too soft and must be replaced if you run it right from the pump. We use cast iron shallow well pumps and this pipe is perfect for the discharge. Additionally, we run hose bibs at various locations and plastic pipe will crack and break with a bad freeze. We run galvanized pipe, where exposed to the elements, which can freeze and thaw. We are in central to northern Florida where we actually get temps below freezing. This is a great buy!

Pipe around here is used for many things from clamps, shelves to gas lines. I previously purchased some 12” pieces for shelves in my office. Got this pipe to run gas to my hunting room behind my office in the shop. This is quality made pipe with a good galvanized coating. The threads are usually where I have trouble but these threads are cut well and my fittings went together easily. I also purchased complimentary fittings, they have worked great. Whether making shelves or running gas line, this is good pipe

The Plumbers Choice, 2 in. x 72 in. black steel pipe is a convenient and cost effective way to get an exact dimensional pipe for any plumbing or home project. They are available in standard sizes from 1/4 inch up to 2 inches in diameter and in lengths 18, 24, 30, 36, 48, 60 and 72 inches long. This is a heavy and thick schedule 40 pipe. The pipes are shipped with plastic end caps to protect the threads from damage. These different sizes and lengths make it easier to do an instillation without having to pay for a plumber to cut and thread the pipes. I do not like to use black pipe for water but I have used it to make household projects, gas hookups and an air feed line from my compressor to the shop. This pipe will be used to finish a new fuel oil tank install in my garage and with a few couplers and elbows the job should be fairly easy. There is a one year warranty on the pipe.

This The Plumber's Choice 2 in. x 72 in. Black Steel Pipe is a serious hunk of pipe! I suppose the most common use for it would be in commercial gas applications. For that, I would imagine it would be perfect. However, I needed it to use as a breaker-bar and pry-bar, and for those purposes, it is also great! It is very heavy duty steel, so its not going to bend or break for almost anything you can imagine. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I wished that I had a breaker bar like this! At 6 feet long, it will give you some serious leverage. Because of what it is, it doesn't ship boxed, just wrapped in clear plastic wrapping, as you can see in my photos. So, if you are going to use it for gas pipe, I would suggest having it shipped to your nearest Home Depot store, where you can inspect the threaded ends before taking it home, because I could see the threads getting damaged in shipping. Mine arrived just fine, so its just a suggestion. Thanks The Plumber's Choice, and Home Depot!

Just wanted to write a review on how i use the 3/4" black pipe. Its a little different than normal. I use them as clamps. By adding clamp heads i can have a very strong clamp of different sizes for the project i am working on. And by adding a union the sizes can be as big as i need. The quality os very good and strong. They stay straight even under clamping pressure. I added a short video to show how i add the clamp heads. You can use the galvanized pipe too.

I'm a real estate investor and I live in a very rural area of upstate New York. Finding competent companies to complete the assorted tasks that arise is difficult so we end up doing most of the work ourselves. I ordered an assortment of sizes of these black pipes to supplement the stock that I keep on hand. These schedule 40 pipes, (the schedule number denotes the wall thickness which will vary with the outside diameter of the pipe), work well for all residential and commercial gas and air applications. They're also useful for DIY projects like building industrial furniture, shelving etc. These arrived well package with nicely cut threads, thread protector caps and a light oil coating. The Plumber’s Choice honors all warranties for one year on all of their products and as with most products Home Depot sells there is a 90 day return policy.
