I have wasted the weekend trying to figure how to put the battery in a round tray. There is no place visible to put the battery

We have used this product for a few years now, my husband was telling who knows how many people this is the only product that truly works. However, there has been a change this year. The pads Do Not last 4 hours, not even 3 hours anymore, if you’re lucky, you’ll get 2 hours. We even purchased a new lantern thinking it might be the heating element. Didn’t change the longevity of the pad. Unhappy….

I’ve purchased these in the past and have always been extremely impressed. Unfortunately the last two I purchased will not stay lit. They’ve been properly cleaned and maintained - I thought perhaps it could’ve been old butane? So I purchased a new box , still nothing.

This is the second season that I have used my 300. I always swore by it, and recommended it to anyone that asked about it. Those were usually times when we were on our deck, by the fire ring, or while I was on my tractor during the day. However, last week we were eating outside on our deck , and I had my Thermacell running. Suddenly, my wife laughed, and told me that there were two mosquitoes flying within a foot of the unit. I was extremely skeptical, and had to see this myself. I went back to our table, where the Thermacell was hanging from our umbrella, and watched as mosquitoes were flying around and by it like it wasn't even there. I figured maybe it was a weak pad, as I had used this one for an hour or so earlier in the day. No harm, no foul, things happen. Tonight I had taken the unit with me, into my yard, with a fresh fuel cell, and brand new out of the packet, fresh pad. I hung the Thermacell on the side of my tractor , and went back inside for a few minutes, to give it a chance to build it's zone. I went back out, and began working on the tractor, and sure enough I was being eaten alive, and there were mosquitoes flying merely inches away from the unit, that was actually emitting a faint hint of smoke from the pad! I don't know what has happened, but this product no longer works for me. It ignites, heats the blue pads, and is occasionally hot enough to smoke a bit, so it is functioning, but it is most definitely not doing it's job.

Takes 5 or 6 tries to get started. Very frustrating.

Went up camping and heard about the Thermacell products and thought we would grab one on the way up. The 1st 2 times we used it we had no problem lighting it. As the weekend went on we had to keep trying to light it as it wouldn't always ignight. By the last day it took 10 tries to light it and finally it worked. Then we discovered it didn't work at all!! We watched as the mosquitoes flew all around it and us. I have so many mosquitoe bites its crazy. Yes it was working because the blue pads turned white and we could see the smoke from it. My advice would be save your money!

I have had my thermacell and camo pouch for several years and I love it. I use it to duck hunt in Southwest Louisiana below Interstate 10 in the marsh. Where the mosquitoes are so thick if you just use spray the hover around your face so bad it makes it hard to see. Three or us hunt out of a boat with a pop up blind. Me, my Dad, and my brother in law. I always sit in the middle, my dad on front deck with our dog on a attached platform, and my brother in law in the back by the gatortail. I will get my thermacell started then clip it on the blind in front of me, in what seems like a minute or less the buzzing of mosquitoes in my ears are gone then I notice they are gone period. Then I ask my Dad & Brother in law if they are be bothered or bite by any and they say know. I also have a patio light thermacell as t home for nights around the firepit and such. I absolutely love my Thermacell products and wouldn't trade them for any other type or repellent. I know these work in the toughest mosquito infested hunting area there is, the marshes in south Louisiana!!!

I've used these hand-held models for quite some time, found out many years ago of their effectiveness. If anything could be improved, I know I can unscrew the butane container every time I quit using it but there has to be some sort of switch or a body design that covers the switch that would prevent it from being turned on accidentally in a pack? Other than that, this is a fantastic product and so much better than covering up in bug spray.

Been an avid south alabama swamp deer Hunter for years. There are many factors that determine a hunt. Sat through rain, sleet, and snow. Only thing that ever ran me off was mosquitos. I was given a thermacell as a gift. It sat in my gear for over a year before I used it. First use I popped it awake in a wet hardwood bottom the air was black with those little blood suckers. In 5 minutes it totally cleared them out. Was not expecting that. Now I own several. I always make sure everyone has 1. There is a dedicated pocket in my safety harness for 1. Always have 1 in my truck. And it's my go to gift for anyone I know. Amazing product.

After 10 years my thermacell stopped working, wouldn’t light, so I bought a new one. I would not go in the river bottom without it, Lots of rain during the summer and the mosquito population exploded. I would almost have to run to my deer stand, and hurry and get my thermacell up and running. Two minutes later and no mosquitos! Best thing since sliced bread. The person who invented it should win a Nobel prize!!!

I had 6 of these that i bought them for Christmas gifts for family who hunt and fish as they were the best for keeping mosquitoes and sand nats off from biting you . we all loved them and I now 2 older models and 4 that are only around 5 years old. this is one product that i will own and use as long as i am able to hunt and fish as i am 74 now and still love hunting and fishing and working outside , best thing i have found to keep bugs away from you .

This product is worth the money.It definitely works.Only wish it had some way to hang this one in my deer stands.

Purchased the MR300 as a second one to use for deer hunting as I keep the older one in my turkey vest. First time with it in the woods and it won’t light. I can hear the gas flowing when switching it on ( and it’s a new full cartridge), and pushing the ignite button lights the gas, but it won’t stay lit (no glowing from flame in the viewing window). Quality of these new versions is no where near that of the unit I’ve owned for almost 15 years. Very disappointing.

I have been using these products for years in the woods and have been very effective. My original handheld device went inoperable and purchased a new one. Not sure if the design was changed or the materials changed but it just isn’t effective in Florida hunting conditions. I am writing this in the tree stand getting destroyed by Florida mosquitos.

I had the old unit with the turn knob to turn on the fuel and the small button to light it. It worked great for many years. When it finally quit working I immediately bought another only it was this “new and improved” unit. Well the little switch for the gas gets turned on all the time when not in use and empties the fuel cartridge. The bigger ignition button requires multiple clicks before the gas lights. If I ever find the old model I’ll buy as many as I can find cause you can’t be in the woods in South Georgia without one of these. If it worked why change it.

I received this product as a gift from a friend . It worked great in New Jersey but its real test was Cape Cod this year . The outer cape including Wellfleet where we stay had the worst mosquito problem in over 40 years. They just swarmed you when you went out side. The first time we went there this summer we did not have the thermacell and we were bitten constantly. The second week we went up we we had the Mr300 and it was incredible. We could sit out in the evening without one mosquito bothering us. It actually was incredible the difference. To show you how bad the mosquitos were this year a company called Mosquito Squad based in Wellfleet had 55 employees and they worked 6 days a week to try and control the problem. The thermacell solved the problem for us and we will never go up to the cape again without it.

I bought this product a year ago, used it last summer and it worked pretty good. Bring it out this summer, would not start. I had an extra battery, I installed that, it wouldn’t start. I bought a package of fresh batteries, installed one and it wouldn’t work. Totally frustrated!

We have had ours a couple years refills don’t last long enough and too expensive but they work great

Purchased about 13-16 months ago and now out of warranty. It Quit Working. I just bought a new box of fuel & repellent pads and have only used a couple. There is no fuel flow to heat the pads. It kept the mosquitos of of my back porch and away from the front of my camper when it worked. so I suppose I need to buy another one because the fuel cells are proprietary. Frustrating!!!

I purchased the MR300 model with 15 ft of protection, and I cannot say enough good things about this product. I use it to water my plants daily, and I attach it with a clip to my shorts and walk around with it. The clip doesn't come with the product, but it would be good to include one. I was getting anywhere from 4 to 6 mosquito bites daily before using this product. I have been using it for 2 weeks daily, and I have not had even 1 bug bite. I am completely sold on this product and I ordered more refills. Make sure you get the correct version of this product for what you need, there are different ranges of protection. I am using it to walk around or sit on a small covered patio. You will need a larger range of protection for a big deck or yard.

I purchased this to help with mosquitos around the campsite instead of constantly using sprays. Unfortunately it was completely ineffective. I tried both a new fuel cell and a new pad and it was still ineffective.

This, for me doesnt work! Ive tried 2 different portable units and a few different pad/fuel kits! Ive gotten eat up everytime! Had it under my chair just now and got bit for 10 min then decided to calli quits!

You have to put this on and let it run for about 20 minutes for it to take effect. I used 2 of them 5 FT apart and it worked great.

Love the product, helps keep the little buggers away. But the fuel cells are a huge waste. They need to be refillable.

I work in the woods doing habitat restoration so this is invaluable to keep mosquitoes away. I think Thermacell needs to work on a way to be able to refill the butane cartridges as who wants more plastic in out environment

I’ve had mine for years I bring it everywhere I go outdoors I live and swear by this mosquito repeller the best period!!

I have used this for 10 years or somewhere around that time frame. The only drawback is the short life span of the pad vs fuel cell life.
