This is not a bear can. It does not have...
This is not a bear can. It does not have a lock mechanism and its cheap and flimsy. We have been trying to get them picked up for return for three weeks. You should take them off your website.
It is fraudulent advertising. An actual “ bear can” has a lock mechanism on top to keep bears outs. They are also generally a hard, sturdy plastic. This has nothing to lock anything, and is poorly made of cheap material. Pls come pick up this return.
I have had to go through several hours with your return dept and nothing gets done. It has been a nightmare.
And you charged $303 per can, a real rip off and disappointment.

You clearly did not receive a Toter "Bear Tough" two-wheel cart. As described and pictured on this page, Toter Bear Tough carts feature a steel-reinforced rim and a double-walled lid, as well as 1/4-inch steel U-bolt hinges and a locking mechanism for the lid. Our bear carts have a bottom wear strip and rugged wheels. All Toter two-wheel cart bodies are a single-piece design (i.e., no seams that can separate or be ripped apart) thanks to a technology Toter pioneered called "Advanced Rotational Molding." This also allows the use of a flexible material (MDPE) that is highly impact resistant. We're sorry you did not receive the correct product. Leaks but works
As a review by Anna mentioned, the lid does leak. Thinking I needed a better seal, I used some foam weather stripping, but it didn't help. Contrary to the mfg comment (by the way, I contacted their tech service, but they never returned my call), mine also leaked, and it wasn't because of a deluge. This is a weekly occurrence, since I must leave the can out. The can is also a lot heavier than the regular 64 gal can, so I just take the bag out and leave it for the garbage people. I use a rubber band and a piece of plastic, which helps limit the water intrusion. It seems the mfg could come up with an elastic band or cover for the opening, which should fix the problem.

Our Bear Tough two-wheel (trash can) cart is designed to protect trash from bears and other animals such as raccoons. By design, for trash collection, there is a small opening that's just large enough for a human index finger to get in to trigger the latch. Nobody has ever before complained about maggots and this cart. One review mentioned rain water penetration after leaving the cart out in thunderstorms for three days.

Going on 6 yrs without a breach
Bought one of these in late 2014 as my main trash can, as the area I live in has lots of bears. Can is still going strong in late 2020 despite having suffered numerous bear attacks. Most recent involved a bear that pushed the can down my long driveway into a neighbor’s property. Bear clawed it, stomped on it, and flipped it over a few times but couldnt get in. Latch still functions well so I’ve been quite pleased. Probably jinxed myself now with this review though.

Bear chews right through defective handle rod - allowing bear to access trash directly within minutes. Toter does not stand behind their product. Less than a few weeks of use.
Handle should have been metal reinforced like the hatch. No brainer - systemic defect.

If you have have a defective latch, please contact Toter customer service at (800) 424-0422 and select option "2" for retail customers. Toter's Bear Tough trash cans carry a 3-year warranty. Clearly a secure latch is essential to the solution this cart is designed to provide, so you must have one that works.
