It works as intended. I got it for a light maple blem baseball bat and it darkened it a lot. I would say it came out lighter than the color example shown, but it was expected since the blem bat was almost white in color. I did many, many coats and it finally got that classic barn red look. This was more than twice what I needed for the bat (about 12 coats).

We tried to match as close to your kitchen cabinets as we could with our Kitchen Island project. This stain was easy to apply. Quick cleanup and matched beautifully. We applied a satin finish coating to top it off.

We ordered nesting side tables from a picture on the Internet to match our dinette set, but when we received them, the tabletops were a lot lighter than appeared on my monitor. We bought this Kona stain because of the deep brown color, plus it said fast drying. The first coat didn't darken the table as much as I wanted, so my husband added two more coats. The end result is beautiful and now the tables match the dinette perfectly. I've enclosed a before and after picture. We let the stain dry overnight just to be safe so I can't say if it dried in an hour. I would definitely buy this again.

Varathane 8 oz. Ebony Premium Fast Dry Interior Wood Stain worked perfectly on my wood sign projects and on my stairwell. It was way to apply to the surfaces. I love the color of this product.

Applied with a brush and removed with shop towel. I wasn’t sure if I would like the dark color because I couldn’t find a lighter cherry stain. I’m glad I kept it. Couldn’t be happier.

I sanded and pre-conditioned the butcher block countertops. I stained with 2 coats, then stained the lighter spots only to get the exact color finish. With each stain coat I laid the stain on thick and left it to soak for about 4-5 minutes I would say. The longer you leave it, the darker the wood will get. A couple of other tips: Use cheese cloth to wipe away the stain once you waited the few minutes for it to soak in. When you apply the polyurethane, sand between coats, but dont sand after your last coat! I mixed 3 parts polyurethane with 1 part Mineral Spirits. This is recommended by various professionals for a better application.

Can makes color look like a pickled brown. It’s really blueish/green

I was looking for a rustic brown and I got a weathered grey instead. It matches the Rustoleum Carbon Grey I used on my kids’ custom-made beds to a T! I honestly think Varathane mislabeled the can. It’s pretty, but not what I was going for and may clash with my blue-gray wall.

I purchased this stain for an outdoor bench that I built. The stain is not intended for outdoor use. I thought it work for this project since the bench would not be exposed to the elements on my covered porch. One coat of this stain is very transparent which allows the wood grain to show through. The direction's say to apply with a brush or rag and wipe off. I applied several coats to achieve a more solid look. It was easy to use. It would also be great used in layers of different colors for a aged worn look. Lots of possibilities.

This product claims to dry in 1 hour. I let mine dry for over 2 hours and although it was dry to the touch, it turned out to be a mess. Ended up costing me over $500 in additional labor and paint.

Perfect gray color for this rustic table I built.

If you are looking for a quick drying oil based stain this is it for you. I bought it to make my own custom colored stain and it worked amazingly. I purchased from an art supply store oil paint to use as my pigment and it mixed perfectly. I now have a perfect purple colored oil based stained.

Dries almost as fast as they say!

Worked as advertised. Gave the wood a nice, rustic look and a cool tone. Picture used is of a light, pine wood.

Was darker and more purple then I had expected. But with a second wipe it came out good.

The stain covered well with one coat and dried even quicker than advertised. I wiped stain with a rag immediately after applying to give my project more of a weathered look and it was perfect!
