Looks great
I mixed ebony and kona togther to get the look i wanted. Came out slightly darker than i wamted but thats on me and not the product. Stair treads do look amazing. I used the staining pads which made it very easy to apply.

Went on beautifully. I didn't know what to expect on this project. The floors are over 100 years old and hadn't been cared for. Sanding only helped with some of the marks, so I wasn't expecting much other than protecting the floors (adding 3 layers of poly also) from now on. I have received so many compliments on the floor! The color is beautiful!

Love, love, love this color. I have used this on a heirloom rocking horse I was restoring which came out beautiful, and I also used that same color on a window seat that I just refinished and am very happy with the color. I used a water base satin poly to seal it. Excellent !

Ruined my project
I built a barn door and was getting ready to finish it up. I purchased this premium stain and it completely ruined my barn door. It applied dark like paint. It took much longer than an hour to dry and didn’t even show the grain of the wood. I had to sand it all down and paint the door white, which was not part of the plan. Going back to the store to get the standard stain.

Oh no, we can help. When applying the Rust-Oleum Varathane Fast Dry Wood Stain, it is important to wipe away the excess wood stain so the wood grain can show through and the stain can dry properly. With soft woods, excessive absorption of the stain can occur too. In this case, you would need to make sure to condition the wood with the Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Conditioner first so that the stain will apply evenly.

Perfect for a beginner!
This was my first ever stain and it worked perfectly. Even though it doesn't need a conditioner I still used one. Either way looked great when I tested it but when using a prestain it helped not make it darker. My thinking was I can go light to dark but not reverse. I used briarsmoke and it was gorgeous! Highly recommend it's a cool tone brown in my opinion and really pops off white accents.

very pretty!
I used this on sanded wood floors. I used a throw away brush to put on, let sit a couple minutes then wiped off excess with a soft rag. The sanded floors really soaked it up so I figured out to not wipe too much off. The picture is one coat and no finish coat yet.

Applied easily with soft cloth, excellent penetration. Dried to tack quickly, fully dry in 8 his. No reapplication needed for my project. Had a nice sheen with out poly, covered with poly for durability.

The stain was easy to apply, provided the expected results to the top of the dresser and night stands. I then sealed it with varathane triple thick polyurethane and it again looked great. I would recommend the varathane stain and polyurethane for refinishing furniture.

Color was a LIE
This was not Gray. I had the wood properly sanded and conditioner applied even though the product says there isnt any need for it. Was a weathered burnt color. Now ill be spending my time stripping this mistake

I LOVE THIS STAIN!!
I wiped the cupboards with a damp cloth then applied. New kitchen in a few hours with one can!! Definitely recommend this stain!! I did purchase a second time to do my dad's cupboards and my front door.
